I held onto some select cards from my youth so that it wouldn't bite me in the ass like it did my Dad. I didn't even look at them for years, but with sports card becoming en vogue again, I decided to see if I owned anything valuable.

I have a few cards that seem like they could be valuable, but much of their value is tied to a PSA rating (?). For example, this Michael Jordan Hologram I own could be $1250 or $95. This Shaq rookie card could be $500 or $45. I don't know enough about collectibles to understand why there is such a drastic difference between the two prices

I kind of want to sell while the bubble's hot as I don't have a lot of sentimental attachment to these things. Is it worth getting them appraised? If it's impossible to get that high PSA rating, should I save the money and try to sell for the lower value?
I heard PSA has a months long backlog. So, if you think the bubble is short lived, sell ungraded. I have a friend who sold an extensive basketball collection on ebay and didn't wait to grade what wasn't already graded.

If you think the Jordan will grade high - 9 or 10, I'd get it graded. I think they'll always be a strong Jordan market.

Bought a bunch of old boxes to take home to open with my brother (whenever I can...who knows)...

- 1990 Topps box
- 1991 Upper Deck (my personal favorite cards I ever collected - even though their value is shit)
- 1991 O Pee Cee Premiere (Baseball set - dirt cheap - but always liked these and it has the Mo Vaughn which I like)

About to get an 88-89 OPC Hockey Box with another 1990 Topps baseball box that I'm going to split with my friend.

Oh - and the Rickey Henderson I bought my brother did find its way to the Congo. So that's good to know.

No idea if it'll ever make its way back.

Donruss '92 or '93, Series one and two, 10's of thousands opened but most touched but once at opening, all mint, stored vertical in card boxes... Beuller? Anyone?

I might give them up for shipping cost alone. Any proceeds in excess of shipping 50% to the Jimmy Fund. Hello? Hello?

Was looking for something last night and came across one of my favorite Pedro’s

Also, came across this Skybox rubies Valentin #’d to 50. Funny when you forget you even have certain cards.

Also, received my Frederic redemption from UD:w00t:

Because my brothers Henderson is still in the Congo, I found another one on Facebook for 60 bucks. Condition is great just off center but it’s a sharp card. So I went over to get it (now I will send my brother mine because this new one was 1/3 the price but twice as nice).

Anyway when I was there this old man (in his 80s) showed me his collection. Awesome stuff. Doesn’t do Venmo or anything unfortunately or I would have bought a lot more. Tom Brady cards (no rookie), Michael Jordan baseball stuff, tons of old baseball cards. 70s to 80s.

I’m going back soon to buy a bunch. His prices are like a third of eBay. And the condition of some of these cards is amazing.

Happy to post, I’ve been helped out here too!

Seems like maybe Target is going to keep getting these in stock. They’ve got some kind of exclusive die cut card in some of the packs too, only at Target.

I only knew about this because I signed up for the in stock alert on the Target site which might help folks find these.

Missed this time. I have to say, even though the Donruss cards aren’t licensed they are more fun to open.

My WalMart was stocked with Donruss today so I picked up a few hangers, a couple blasters and a fat pack. I wish they had a license, because their product is stellar. Still got 2 hangers and 3 blasters to open tomorrow.

I have not been able to find anything in a while as far as retail goes - and the prices on hobby boxes are just insane, based on the horrific luck I seem to have with opening packs 90% of the time, plus since I have no hobby shop local to me I cannot get that instant satisfaction.

Is the market for memorabilia as strong as the market for cards now? I'm curious about the value of a couple items that have been sitting in totes, but I'm not motivated enough to take them into a shop for appraisal.

The first is an old-timer's photograph autographed by Mantle, Mays, Dimaggio, and Snider. I've seen the photo and printed autographs on eBay, but I have no clue what the original autographs go for. This one is interesting because it was previously owned by Clete Boyer; he framed it and signed the back (it also looks like it was used to polish shoes or bludgeon someone -- maybe both).

The second is a pair of commemorative interleague tickets from the inaugural 1997 season. The first is autographed by Tim Salmon, Darin Erstad, and Barry Bonds; the second is autographed by Salmon, Erstad, Jim Edmonds, Greg Vaughn, Ken Caminiti, and Tony Gwynn.

I've checked eBay completed listings and came up empty, but I could be doing it wrong.

I have to imagine that the Yankee autographed picture is worth a buttload. Especially with the cool Clete Boyer connection. I have no idea how you get an estimated price on that (or the others), but you could think about sending in to one of the autograph authenticators for authentication as proper authentication would substantially increase the value. I think James Spence, or JSA, is the big one out there.

Went back to this guy's house to pick up a bunch more...got the following. What's hard to really show is how good the quality of these are. The Puckett and Mattingly are amazing. I still need to get more one-touch's for them as I ran out.

40173
40174

That '94 Flair A-Rod was always his most attractive Rookie Card. 89/90 Hoops were cards I collected as a kid. Condition is awesome just slightly OC. I know the Tiger isn't his best rookie card, but it's still a nice one and seemed like a good one to buy with him likely being done.

Grabbed a bunch of 2002-2004 Brady cards because I have none of him. The Carlton Fisk was only $2 which was a no-brainer. Grabbed all of the baseball Jordan's, unfortunately there wasn't any 1991 Upper Deck ones. That's a card I want a lot.

How much did the Jordan card cost you? I just remembered I've got two of them.

I was able to pickup a couple of cool cards at auction recently:

1955 Topps Ted Williams (my first Teddy Ballgame card)
1960 Topps Willie McCovey rookie card

I was also able to get Bowman rookie cards of Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna for a pretty good deal, but they aren't graded.

Oh god that Ted card is amazing.

The Jordan was $40 from a card shop. I checked eBay and they go for about the same (plus shipping) so I came out a littleahead.

$160, plus auction fees. Something like $185 total, I believe. I just got my taxes back and that card was screaming at me. Hope I didn't pay too much!
Unless you’re aiming to make a profit - it doesn’t matter what you paid. It is worth more to you than you would ever get for it.

1) have supply prices come down at all from 3-6 months ago when I looked for them?

2) Where do people get stickers (for pricing)?

Yeah, the vendors have been having a hard time with people being real fucking tools about this stuff. Like fist fights breaking out over them. I'm not surprised at that sign at all.

NHL must feel bad about being displaced by Pokémon.

Really, not sure why Pokémon is even on the list, they just sit around at my retailers. Magic seems to sell more, depending on the product.

I don't go to the stores much these days but I found a few packs of 2021 Heritage in the wild the other day. We're getting closer to a complete set of 400 over here, with 401-500 looking decent.

We did find this though in one of the boxes, 8/10:

1. No, if anything, the prices are still going up. A case of top loads is easily double what it was 18 months ago.

2. I get mine at Staples

Yes, to the point where the vendors are getting robbed in parking lots before they can get in the store.

Okay, somebody put me on the path to where I can have some idea what this NFT thing is.

Or don't, because it might be bad for me.

Anyone have a Football Beckett from around 2011 and so? +/- 2 years or so would work. I need to look up one TB12 card.
