1. No, if anything, the prices are still going up. A case of top loads is easily double what it was 18 months ago.

2. I get mine at Staples

Yes, to the point where the vendors are getting robbed in parking lots before they can get in the store.
Manufacturers should be having direct sales, with lotteries, I think. Then again, shipping would kind of kill the deal for one back customers.

That box of Bowman was... not good.

Only number products were #/75 Freddy Zamora, #/499 Yankee of some sort and a #/399 Jose Tena (non-Chrome). Got a few different Blaze Jordan's and the auto was some 2019 Reds draft pick named Ivan Johnson, who I've never heard of.

The product is stellar, though.

Earlier in the thread, there was some discussion about doing a SoSH group break. If there's enough interest, I'd be willing to run the live break, ship, etc. Obviously, everything would be at cost. I'm just gauging how many people might be interested, so reply or PM me if you might be in. I'm thinking something in the $50-60/team range (including shipping and supplies). We can figure out what to break if there's enough general interest.

I've got a root canal this week, so working through the details will happen after my mouth starts functioning properly again.

How does a break work when you have the majority being Red Sox fans and many would in theory want the Red Sox? Don’t breaks work by team? (Never been in one that’s my understanding)

Many are random team breaks - you have 30 slots and then use random.org to assign slots to teams. Definitely not a preferred setup for people who only want a specific team, but if you collect across MLB, it works. There are other types - draft of the hits (after opened), player drafts/auctions, etc. I'd probably want to do a random team break for simplicity's sake at least for the first one.

I miss when you could pick up some autos of prospects for a few bucks - went online to grab a few Blaze Jordan autos, and they are all hundreds or thousands of dollars each, depending on the parallel, which is beyond ridiculous.

Count me in for a break though.

What would be the product break for the $50-$60 random team? Topps case? Bowman half case? Tough to line up this particular price point. I would be interested depending on the product.

I'd probably be in depending on timing, etc.

Edit: If we couldn't fill it, I'd probably buy more than one spot if need be.

TBD. Assuming there's enough interest, I'll come up with a couple of options and put a poll together. But your thinking is in line with mine, something like a half case of Bowman or similar. But I'm open to ideas.

I've never done a break but if its in the $50-60 range I'm down to learn what it's like.

If we needed extras, I would be fine with chipping in for a few slots as well, depending on what we needed in order to fill the break.

Please loop me in. And good luck with the root canal.

For my birthday, Mrs Mugsy kindly got me a box of 2021 Topps Series 1 — 24 packs. I’ve been disciplined about opening one/day to stretch it out. Very nice 52 Redux cards and 1986 35th anniversary cards in most packs, and have pulled a couple of nice 70 Years of Topps inserts (though Judge and Glayber, damnit). A couple of gold/silver versions, but of scrubs so no value there.

Anyway, about 17 packs in I’ve reached the point where just about every single card that’s regular issue is a double. Reminder of how frustrating that can be.

If anyone wants to swap 2021s, give a holler.

I have never been that disciplined about anything in my entire life.
I have packs that I put away at least 15 years ago that I still haven't opened.
Started buying Red Sox team sets on ebay and random packs here and there immediately after Hurricane Katrina. Helped with my PTSD.

Não fala Portuguese, brother. Just some swear words and I can cook you some nice Shrimp Mozambique or Kale soup or fry you up some malassadas.

Somehow that is different. I think I have old packs that I bought to save at my dad’s house. It’s the “I’m going to open these but I’m going to do it over time” that I struggle with. I’m generally impulsive so I’m impressed by your delayed gratification.

Don't be. They got stuck in a bin with other relics from my past life New Orleans and pushed to the back of a closet. I take the bin out ever now and then to re-live my youth. Mrs. nolasoxfan rolls her eyes as she walks by.

Got a Bobby dalbec and a Mountcastle OD rookie. Kind of lazy that the Mount castle is the same photo as the Series 1.

Based on the replies, it looks like there's enough interest in a break. I'll start a separate thread, so we can stop cluttering up this one with break talk.

In other news, I finally found the Papi rookie card I was searching for at a (somewhat) reasonable price on eBay.

LOL, whatever you do, don't look around at the prices and number of cards in a briefcase of Flawless or a box of National Treasures, etc.

So sad that it has come to this. I have been wanting to buy some 2021 bowman but the MSRP on a blaster is bad enough, but now they’re $80 on ebay. Local stores here in PA have been out of any sports cards for months now. If anyone has any access to retail, I would be interested in buying. There are no options for hobby stores locally for me.

I opened a Diamond Kings hobby box and a Bowman blaster tonight. Both sets are absolutely beautiful. The DK had some beautiful hits including my first 1 of 1 (below) and an Evan White auto/bat/jersey card and a Buster Posey jersey card.

In related news, I'm spending way too much money on cards.
