I’m now officially on team Vegas. The Panthers are a bunch of undisciplined thugs in this game and series. Tkachuk in the box for 25% of the first two games sure is helping his team.
Except Tkachuk shouldn't have been penalized for the hit. And I'd argue that's he's extremely disciplined and knows exactly what he's doing...guys like Lomberg and Gudas on the other hand certainly fit your description.

Yeah that was a clean hit. Eichel had like 8 steps heading up the ice, was looking up ice, and somehow just didn't see Tkachuk despite literally skating in the exact direction he was coming from. It's on Eichel.

He wasn’t penalized for the hit though. He was penalized for being an asshole in the scrum after.

(And yes it was a clean hit, Eichel even agreed. He just toe picked at the wrong time)

I had no problem with the hit. As TFP says, Eichel himself called the hit clean.

Watch the first minute of this video. No single element of what Tkachuk does - the slash, the sucker punch - is particularly egregious. That stuff happens all the time in those scrums. But collectively, in total, the guy's off the rails and the refs are increasing eager to send him away for 2+10. That's not helping the team.

I think the nonsense would stop if the league gave Bennett or Tkachuk a game off.

So, fun little fact that Dom Luszczszyn put out on Twitter today: in the advanced stat era, the 2010-11 Bruins had the highest playoff PDO at 104.8%. Second place belonged to the 2008-09 Bruins at 104.6 (boy, Thomas had a couple of heaters).

Vegas is on pace to shatter that at 106.9%

This kind of matches the eye test too. If you believe that goalkeeping is streaky -- that is that distribution of goalkeeping proficiency is lumpy not smooth -- then it certainly seems like Vegas has been catching goalkeepers at the trough not crest of their waves.

That said, I don't think I buy into a lucky narrative that much. Knights have won all of their series early. Five, six, six, and now 2-0. So, they've left games on the table.

Edit -- they are also +25 in goal difference.

Bob is finding his rhythm. Feels like if the Panthers could generate any offense and get a few chances, Bob could carry them out of this funk.

Panthers need some luck. A weird bounce or something. If they can find a goal here they can maybe get some space to get right, but if the Knights get the next goal this series could be done.

Key to stopping the Panthers offense seems maybe to be as simple as size. They can’t get that greasy digging corner stuff going against Vegas. They are just too big. Too strong.

If Gudas doesnt get a penalty for engaging with a player while not wearing a helmet....just WTF.

Between the nets being more shallow and the default set-up having multiple cameras in them, I’m surprised that doesn’t happen more often.

If memory serves, FL has not yet lost in OT. There's always a first time.

I am not a fan of FL, but they were under a minute from being eliminated vs the Bs and now, for all intents and purposes, 2 min away from elimination (absent them turning into the '42 Maple Leafs), yet they live on. From a pure sports perspective, it's quite a story. The horseshoe lives on.

Moving the Line
7-0 in OT, single postseason:

2022-23 Panthers
2002-03 Mighty Ducks

Is it possible in a week these teams are 0-2 in the Cup Final? Would be neat.

Love the announcers raving about late hits where guys jump into the air to hit their target.

I wish I had copied Moneypuck’s goalie stats, because now I have to go by memory.

That said, while neither goalie has been doing as well as they had the previous 2-3 rounds, Bobrovskiy has seen his GSAE/60 drop by 0.4 per 60 or so.

If thats what breathes life into them and they get back into this...just hand them the trophy tonight.
