They get G Michael DiPietro and RHD Jonathan Myrenberg.

DiPietro seems like filler. 23 year old G who has some
NHL experience.

Myrenberg is a 2021 5th round pick playing in Sweden.

Does the acquisition of an NHL goaltender mean they are thinking of making a move with Swayman or Ullmark? Or was he acquired to be waived?

I can't imagine they'd mess with that tandem. While it's going to eventually suck to lose someone due to salary cap stuff, the step down, for both F and D, is soooo much smaller than replacing either of those guys with a G like DiPietro

Myrenberg is probably the *prize* and DiPietro is probably in the balance contracts but I don’t think he is a complete after thought. He’s young and has a decent AHL track record.

I’m just not sure where he is going to play. Maine maybe? They have Kinkaid and Keyser in Providence and Bussi at Maine. I suppose they could also loan him out to a non-affiliate.

I suspect he'll be loaned out.

Gotta be a loaner, he's not better than either option in Prov and they need Bussi to keep getting time in Maine. He just seems like organizational filler to me.

Agreed Myrenberg is who they wanted, they took Dipietro as filler. I hate losing Stud, but roster crunch and his ceiling was probably a bottom 6 center, so at least they got something for him before they ended up just losing him to waivers. Kept hoping he'd finally flash, but the center logjam killed that

Disappointing that Stud never fulfilled the promise he showed after he was drafted but this seems much more idea than the Senyshyn path of wallowing for years as value is stripped away one AHL game after another.

Good move to recycle some value here. As long as this team is trucking, any young guy is going to have a tough time cracking the lineup.

I hate to see the potential traded away, particularly from a position of organizational need. But I guess I'll have to trust the Bruins' evaluation. And the reality is that as long as Montgomery likes what he sees from Nosek then Studnicka was not going to force his way into the lineup at center (at least not this year). So @Jed Zeppelin I agree that it was good to extract value.

I hope they have a solid plan to fill the gap moving forward. They have drafted centers so they're in the pipeline but the ones that have 2C potential are still pretty green. They'll need to have answers for the nearer term. We'll see what Zacha might bring in this (hopefully brief) cameo while Krejci recuperates.
