Rafael has left Manchester United for Lyon.  Its hard to believe he has been at the club for 8 years and I'm actually really disappointed he never fulfilled his potential.

Word is West Ham are trying to bring in the Mexican National team front line.
Raul Jimenez on loan from Athletico
And they supposedly made a £12m offer for Chicharito today.

Both those guys are clowns.

There is so much smoke around this transfer, however, that there must be a little fire.  I think we're clearly in for him and willing to spend the money.  Benzema's place in the starting XI is also pretty clearly in question, with Perez and Benitez intent on playing Bale as a second striker and questions about whether you can really fit him, CR7, and Benzema into the team that way. Whether Madrid is willing to sell seems like the big issue and it probably hinges on whether or not they can bring in a new galactico or a few other good players.  Especially after Barca winning the treble, there is no way that they just sell us Benzema without having some kind of new shiny toy to dangle in front of the supporters.

Real Madrid signs Croatian CM Kovacic from Inter Milan to a 6 year deal.

Willing to wager that Kovacic goes the Robben-VDV-Sneijder route, barely getting games at Madrid for 2-3 years before moving to a new club and becoming a superstar.

Otamendi to City is apparently very close.  They are also still in for De Bruyne and rumored to be rivallng United for Pedro.

All told, they'll probably spend 2-3 million barrels of oil (at current prices) this summer.

And Mangala is going to remain? That's a really expensive bench.

Alex Sandro close to moving from Porto to Juventus for at least 22 EUR.

There were initially some murmurs about Mangala swapping on loan but it seems they've been put off.  Given Kompany's injury history, it probably isn't the dumbest thing to have another CB at City but I wouldn't want to be the manager trying to keep everyone content.  I have no idea who the first choice XI will be.

In 18 months, Porto's former backline of Danilo - Otamendi - Mangala - Alex Sandro will be involved in transfers totaling more than 150 million Euros.

A few german sources reporting that Bayer Leverkusens Heu-Ming Son (23), left wing, is in London for the medical check with Tottenham. A transfer sum of 30mil.€ is reported.

Let´s see, if there´s anything to it. If he is in the 18-men squad tonight vs. Lazio, there´s nothing to it.
OTOH, they have 19yo Julian Brandt who should get more regular playing time than last season, so this could absolutely be possible.

Edit: Sport1.de now reporting there´s nothing about the Son-to-Tottenham rumor. He´ll be in tonight´s 18-man-lineup.

This rumor's been picking up steam today, apparently Son is in London - not in the 18-man squad tonight for what it's worth.

Bayern Leverkusen and Rudi Völler said that Son was in London today and that they should finalize this on thursday or friday.

On a funny note, their player Hakan Calhanoglu said that it was sad that Son isn´t with the team in such an important match. He tried to contact Son per SMS and called him without success. Calhanoglu said that Son is a good guy, but sadly has poor advisors in his dad and his agent.
That´s funny, because Calhanoglu basically forced his way from Hamburg to Leverkusen, when he got a medical certificate saying he had physical problems and couldn´t play. After his sale to Leverkusen, he was instantly free of his health problems.

That was last season. He renewed his contract in January/February 2014 until 2018 and then said he wanted out in summer 14.
Of course i can understand he wants out because HSV sucks, but he just signed a new contract five months earlier that shows how dumb these guys (and dependant from their agents) are.

[Yes, he saw the fast money "I´m set for life with a new contract with 3 added years and 10+mil. in wage, so sign it and i can leave whenever a big club comes up..." Or he could have stood firm, left the club for less money, chose between more clubs that summer 14 and could have offered more wage, instead of paying a bigger transfer sum. And he is just hated for being such a dumb, spoiled ass, besides being from Mannheim and having played for Karlsruhe :) )

Additionally, the KdB / ManCity / PSG saga seems to never end. I wonder why nobody from Wolfsburg just comes up and says We keep him / sell him. This is just a mess, as this hovers around the entire team and the longer this takes for him to leave, the less time they have to buy 1-3 new guys. Obviously, for 80 mil.€, you have to let him go, but then set a deadline and press the suitors to make a move.

Whoops, my b. I was honestly excited for you Bosox and was looking forward to your analysis. At least your UCL draw looks favorable.

Llorente is pure class as a person, and let's face it, handsome as hell.  I was hoping he would end up at a mid-table English club that could actually afford to pay Juve a transfer fee, but I wish him all the best at Sevilla when he's not facing Juventus in Champions League.

Growing optimism Juventus signs Draxler from Schalke, which would be pretty cool.

1) FC Bayern loans Kingley Coman(19yo) from Juve.
http://www.fcbayern.de/de/news/news/2015/presseerklaerung-300815-fc-bayern-leiht-kingsley-coman-von-juventus-turin-aus.php
Striker, french, 2 year loan (sport1 said 7mil loan) with a buying option (sport1: 21mil.€).

2) Seems about Wolfsburg is getting Dante(Bayern for 4mil, but about 7mil € wage @Bayern) and Draxler(Schalke) for the De Bruyne money. No statements on their homepage or their twitter accounts yet. Several Bayern players already tweeting their goodbyes to Dante.

3) Schalke loans Bayern player Pierre Hojbjerg until the end of the season.

Dante was originally purchased by Bayern for €4.5m IIRC - and hasn't been incredible by any means in the past couple of seasons. That, and Bayern for whatever reason don't seem to get great fees back for their players - €30m for Kroos notwithstanding (and even that's on the low side for me):

Mandžukić - €22m
Luis Gustavo - €16m
Podolski (in '09) - €10m
Schweinsteiger - €9m
Can - €5m
Hummels - €4.2m

Lots of rumors about a 37m pound bid from United for Anthony Martial and then a transfer of Chicharito to Leverkusen.  Martial is a big talent and I'll be a little annoyed if he goes there.  But I don't see him stepping into the Premier League as a 19-year-old (and one who has never really played a full season of top level football as a starter, even in France) and succeeding right away.

Its the wages. Players will not leave unless offered top dollar. If im a team and i value a player at x dollars, then ideally transfer FEE + wages equals x. As wages go up, FEE Góes down.

I understand we have money to throw around (we've just broke about even with transfer dealings this summer) but spending it on a very raw 19 year old without having an established scorer coming in makes me uneasy.

Window shuts at 1 PM EST today. Early action:

- Martial looks done, price was rumored to be £36m (also seen €60m + Marcos Rojo mentioned, which seems ludicrous)
- Januzaj on loan to Borussia Dortmund
- Javier Hernandez to Bayer Leverkeusen
- Spurs are lodging a reported €26m bid for Axel Witsel
- Liverpool have accepted a £8m + £2m add-ons from Sunderland for Borini (please for the love of god just leave)
- Chelsea are after Papy Djilobodji from Nantes as it looks like Stones won't move. £2.7m rumored.
- Anders Lindegaard undergoing medical at West Brom
- Kevin Großkreutz to Galatasaray
- Fellow former Dortmunder Jakub Blaszczykowski is on his way to Fiorentina
- Inter close to landing Felipe Melo

In other news, I won't be getting any work done today

The window for Premier League transfers shuts tomorrow at 6 PM GMT.  The window shuts today for several other major continental leagues in terms of buying and registering players (they can still sell).

So you might still be able to get some work done.

Or you get to get nothing done for two days.  Januzaj to Dortmund is quite a good move for him if he can get on the pitch.  Liverpool also getting quite a good fee for Borini all things considered.  I don't think Witsel gets done at that price, the team seems to be holding out for quite a bit more than that.

It's sort of crazy how much talent has come into the PL these past few seasons.  There's been a ton of consolidation post WC.
