That poor man. He has to stay away from work and stay at home with that woman for the next three weeks. Solzhenitsyn never had it so bad.

This is the equivalent of skipping school and being punished with a suspension. So you miss school.

So, does anyone think Tom Brady lost his mind, and called into the Toucher and Rich Show under an assumed name. It didn't sound like him, except his laugh and a little bit at the end. I'd like it to be true, because it shows you that he is losing his mind not playing.

The first half of the call didn't sound like him at all. But the second half sounded just like him. I assume it was a bit or just a person who happened to sound like him. But the second half of the call was so dead on, it did make me wonder.

Care to share what you're referring to with the multitude of folks here that don't listen to Toucher and Rich?

Well, there's fortuna and virtu, and if the Pats come out of this 3-1 or 4-0 with a rested and pissed Brady, a great trade chip in JG or the knowledge they have their QB of the future and no need to spend any more draft picks searching, you could say this was the best thing to happen to the Pats, or at least that they worked it to their advantage.

Just thinking about the play JG got hurt on. My guess is that Brady would have thrown that one away before Alonzo would ever have a chance to bring him down.

There was a "Brady would have gotten sacked" comment in the game thread. Although JG often got out of trouble that Brady would not have, just turtling up & taking a sack (or throw the ball away) may be a smarter play.

Yeah, even as the play was unfolding, I thought to myself Brady woulda just absorbed the blow from whoever first broke through the line. Of course, at the time it seemed like a great thing that Jimmy got free

Jimmy G did what some criticize Romo for doing which is going too far not giving up on a play, which exposes you to injury. Maybe it's an Eastern Illinois thing. He showed really good ability to escape pass rush though.

"Discredited company attempts PR salvaging. News at 11."

Nice of the Times to give them the free publicity.

Would have been nice of the Times to provide a bit of context on Exponent itself. But I can't find "second-hand smoke/cancer" anywhere in the piece...

Here
But it was here, in the temperature-controlled silence of a desert bunker, that Pye oversaw months of experiments to try to determine if air was intentionally removed from the footballs, or if the recorded levels could be explained by science.
Riiiight. Get paid for "months of experiments" on something that should take a day at most and really about 2 minutes if you're not looking at the impact of rain water (since the IGL's impact is a simple formula.)

On the Toucher and Rich audio, at first blush I thought this story was funny and somewhat plausible -- considering the history of callers on WEEI like "Curt in the car" -- but after listening to the call I am completely convinced: that is definitely not Tom Brady. And I don't even understand how anyone thinks it is.
Yeah, I read that part of it didn't sound like him at all but part of it was scary good. I kept waiting for the scary good part.

NY Times story on Exponent: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/25/sports/football/deflategate-new-england-patriots-nfl-science.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0

Nice PR for them.
Exponent still receives emails from adamant critics, and its role in Deflategate has cost it several prospective clients, the company said. At least one in the Northeast told Exponent that it could not risk its own credibility by being associated with the company behind the controversial Deflategate science.

But there are no regrets. Brady is sitting out his suspension, and Exponent has moved on. The thermal chamber still has its artificial turf, but it now is testing lithium-ion batteries, not footballs.

“The thing that I wanted to make sure came out when we were no longer quiet was that there’s real science here,” Pye said. “There’s real engineering. We didn’t start from feelings. We started from facts — the facts that we had, which were complete to the degree that they were complete. And we took those as far as we thought science and engineering could take them. And then presented that.”

Deep inside Muppet Labs
And they presented them wrong, and lied in the report (particularly in the deliberate misrepresentation of the two gauges that Andersen used to measure the PSI of the footballs) and delivered exactly the hit the client demanded.

Burn them down.
