Waiting for our resident Docs to weigh in, but from my searching the numbness is normal and nothing to worry about for him or anyone else. But I'm no doc, just married to a NICU nurse who's way smarter than me. Haha
I will obviously defer to our resident (no pun intended) doctors, many of whom are excellent, but my understanding is that that which causes numbness is often more than just qualitatively different from that which causes just pain. Or can be. But I am certainly welcome to correction here—and hope for the best for Mac, obviously.

Trying to remember medicinal types who are into the medical shit like this. @McBride11 @radsoxfan @doc @fiskful of dollars ? I might be off on some of these…

OR 12
I assume he knew that.
Well OBVIOUSLY…

The numbness he’s having is probably from stretching of the superficial peroneal nerve due to the original injury- the good news is that’s just going to cause a weird sensation, not any motor deficit so while it might feel strange it shouldn’t affect his function in any way.

Numb toes would be a peripheral nerve damage from the ankle/leg injury, but can also be from a lower back problem
