Just watched turning point, they had some additional footage. Lots of this is on Suggs, running around clueless.

The ref is clearly handling it right but looked a bit stressed during the calls. We were throwing stuff at him pretty fast. Edelman says during a break. "You getting your money's worth with all these formations?" One ref laughs, the head referee roll his eyes like he wishes it would stop. Classic.

Listening to the Ravens radio guys being completely dejected every time the Pats make a play is pretty fucking great.
My favorite part - aside from the Harmon pick - is when the color guy, unable to shutter his not-so-quiet desperation in the face of the double-pass TD, frantically blurts out, "W-w-was it backwards?!" A little bit I want to make it my ring-tone.

Edit: typos and autocorrect

Ravens announcers calling Steve Smith "Smith Sr." is fucking obnoxious.

It was interesting to see him talking to the ref about how no one poked Brady in the eye and "12 is always looking for that flag" and the ref said "oh I know".

I love Tom Brady unconditionally, but he does look for flags after every hit.  I think he does it in the hopes that at some point in the game, they'll get a free 15 yards, but most opposing fans and players just assume he's soft and a pretty boy.

Of course in this instance, he has the spot on his eye to prove it.....

Brady clearly complained about getting poked in the eye. Which, seeing the photos of his red eye later on, proved to be a true claim on his part.  Interesting to see Suggs say to the refs not to buy all that flopping that #12 does.  Heh.

EDIT:  Dang, I typed this before refreshing the page so the point was made two posts above here.

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the eye poke/the league has fined anyone. You can clearly see the guy extend his finger into Brady's face mask, you can see the blood in Brady's eye. So where is the fine?

And at 6:40 minutes in the ref is bragging to the Ravens that he called the flop and goes into the Ravens defensive huddle?

Anyone have a link to any of the Edelman stuff?  I missed Turning Point last night.

Did they include anything from after Flacco threw the pick to Harmon?  You can clearly see Edelman running out on the field and yelling something in Flacco's direction.

Meh.  If the tape had shown the ref talking to Brady, it still would have ended with him saying 'oh I know'.  As a ref you're not there to debate the finer nuances of players or plays that are already over.  Just give a little generic agreement and move on to what you're supposed to be paying attention to.

Right before that play Edelman was on the sideline alone and clearly said "Hey Flacco, throw us on... throw us one."  Then he threw us one. At 7:45 or so on the link in post 384.

So the running down the sideline was Edelman celebrating his prediction and I don't recall if he had anything to say at that point, but the "throw us one" line was sweet.

Suggs was miked for the game also, and in the post game shake with Brady, Suggs says "You're awesome", Brady replies "You're a great player", Suggs "Thanks Bro"

Thanks for this. I actually gained some respect for Suggs watching this. Good leader.

He was genuinely shocked and pleasantly surprised when he heard before the game that Brady had been heaping praise on him.  I imagine they have, uh, choice words during the games against each other, but like his boss, Brady has appreciation for great players and will gladly say so.

It's hard to respect Suggs as a person, given the bleach thing, but as a player and competitor, he's got a lot going for him.

Him teaching Elam (a 1st round pick) the fundamentals of tackling on the sideline of a Division Round playoff game is high comedy.  And necessary.

On Inside the NFL, they show a clip of Harbaugh after some of those plays talking to the defense. As best I can recall he says this....

Edit: This video has more than they showed on Inside the NFL. Start at about 11:03 when Ngata starts talking to Suggs, then Harbaugh explains it.

This is spectacular, I just watched the whole thing.  Very well-edited and produced.  At 5:45, you can see the play where Brady gets kicked in the face, and hear him screaming his head off at the refs.  Love it.

The play at 7:15 where Suggs makes a tackle and then, at the bottom of the pile, asks "was that necessary?"... classic.

That was just some random, run of the mill running play that happens 50 times a game.  And if I were Bolden, I wouldn't be able to walk after a week after just one hit like that. This really shows you how violent the game is.

The two of them have some history, obviously.  There was this classic exchange that SoSH got a kick out of in 2010.

At one point in the game, Brady and Suggs were seen jawing after a hit on Brady.  Suggs was asked what the two men talked about:

“He was trying to tell me how to bag a Hollywood actress,” Suggs said via the Boston Herald. “He
said, ‘If you want to get a Hollywood actress, take my seminar on
Saturday.’ …He was going over the Dow and the economy and politics. He
doesn’t really talk football that much.”

For the record this thread was split out and I did not choose the thread title.  Terrell Suggs is a piece of shit human being regardless of how he came across on Saturday night.

Suggs: "That defense is waiting for 12 to bail them out"

Then later in the game, he is calling for Flacco to bail his defense out.

Loved that too.

Suggs also said to the ref that Brady is coached up to try to bait the defense into penalties.

Maybe instead of getting after his own secondary he should focus on the fact that he didn't do much of anything.

He must have wanted to absolutely throttle Elam and Melvin. Pats offense really exposed their piss poor tackling.

Cousin's arrest
On August 14, 2014 Phoenix police arrested Jalani Dehnay "John" Suggs the cousin of Terrell Suggs, charging him with aggravated assault and kidnapping. Reports state that on August 13 Phoenix police were called to a hospital regarding a woman who was seeking medical treatment and said she had been held against her will. The woman told police that Suggs and another man attempted to persuade her to become involved in prostitution and when she refused, she was physically assaulted. The victim said she was held at Suggs' house. Sgt. Steve Martos said the suspects also took her vehicle without her consent and refused to return any of her personal property. The victim told police that she was placed in the trunk of a Maserati parked in Suggs' garage. When she was let out of the trunk, she was held in a bathroom and beaten by Suggs until she lost consciousness three separate times, according to Martos. Suggs ultimately took her to the hospital, dropped her off and drove away. Martos said Suggs is a cousin of NFL player Terrell Suggs.

Yeah, those guys are crazy. I don't enjoy when weekend warriors yell at the guys at the bottom of the lineup.

Brady has spent his whole adult working life dedicated to becoming the best football player possible. In my book he gets to be angry when he's not playing well.

Re: Suggs, that lecture he gave Elam was the height of eyerollable verbiage. Elam knew he missed the tackle and Suggs told him three times to tackle better. Great, man. Did he then tell the punter to punt better, the OL to block better and Flacco to throw better?

Maybe its just me, but guys who give that kind of useless unsolicited advice on a team quickly get tuned out. They're not leaders. Elam was trying to walk away. The only thing that made me think Suggs might be respected was the fact that Elam heard him out and didn't totally blow him off.

No. They just clearly want to make it known that the ref getting paid $50/game blew a call that had zero importance in the outcome of the game.

Yeah that's less unsolicited when the person you're giving advice to doesn't adhere by it. You're taking that at face value with zero background knowledge of how Elam pretty much blows in coverage and presumably being able to tackle people out of bounds. To say Suggs is a shitty leader from that clip is basically you fitting an event into your narrative. Suggs is a shitty person but that's a complete nothing play/event in regards to your hatred of him.

Edit: It would be dandy of Suggs to show him the technique and everything but it's in the middle of the game. How do you want him, arguably the D's leader, to handle Elam's suck?

And then they go home, have a beer, and forget about it for six days.  Brady.....doesn't.  It's less that he's batshit crazier than a guy like Suggs and more that he just managed to dodge any public perception of it.

Ok folks here's the deal.

People can be both absolute monsters who pour bleach on their babies and also be good at their jobs. You can be a terrible person but also function at a high level.  Just because he looks stupid and does evil things and talks shit doesn't mean he's going to be a mouth breathing imbecile when he talks to another football player about football.
