I'm gonna miss his hair, and that sweet, JD Drew-esque left-handed stroke.

That catch near the wall in WS Game 2 is etched in my mind forever. And there's also a cool canvas still of it on my Dad's office wall that I sent him a few weeks later for his birthday.

Overall, I thought he'd be more for the Sox, and for longer. But looking at just 2018 - well, he did a bunch of really awesome things that year. So tip of the cap, and enjoy the BBQ, Benny.

I miss Benny-JBJ-Mookie, left to right. It was my favorite.

His game winner vs Houston is the most well known positive defensive play in Sox history right?

Miami (oh, Miami!)
‘But,’ said Sam, and tears started in his eyes, ‘I thought you were going to enjoy the Shire, too, for years and years, after all you have done.’

‘So I thought too, once. But I have been too deeply hurt, Sam. I tried to save the Shire, and it has been saved, but not for me. It must often be so, Sam, when things are in danger: some one has to give them up, lose them, so that others may keep them. But you are my heir: all that I had and might have had I leave to you.

No doubt in my mind you're gonna have 50 doubles and 10 triples next year, Andrew. Thank you for the great memories in the first post and elsewhere, Andrew.

I think there is real potential for him to be an All-Star this year; he'll hit a lot of doubles at Kauffman and is the exact kind of player that Dayton Moore targets. He might steal a decent amount of bases too.

Who will fill the void of Boston heartthrob?

I don’t know if AB is happy about this deal, but I think he will be in time. He’s more likely to get his groove back in a city with a generally positive fan base that will think of him as “the guy we got for Franchy Cordero” than he would’ve been playing in Boston, where he would’ve always been measured against his 2018 self.

Thanks for all you did here, Beni. Hope you get that groove back and enjoy another decade of making Major League Baseball look easy.

That catch. You'd spend the first round pick all over again as long as you got that catch, even if it was all you got. Glad he's going somewhere with lots of open grass for him to run around.

With the Royals roster he has a good chance to be their all star representative

I bought a Benintendi T back in 2017 when I visited Fenway with my kids (one of them got a Mookie T). Kind of sad to think about, now.

When I go see the Royals play the Twins, I'll probably be the only person in the stadium cheering a little extra hard for him.

Part of me thinks this played more of a role in holding on to him than it needed to. Some women I work with are already distraught about the trade, and I think more than a few older fans saw a bit more Fred Lynn in him than was really there.

Regardless, he's a good player with a high floor who came up and more than adequately filled a need after the Hanley-in-left plan fell apart. I hope he rebounds and I hope he's not a Yankee in three years.

Thank you, 10D, for some exciting and fun years that really were a pleasure to watch. Hope you kill it in KC, just not against us.

First player my oldest and I watched get drafted. I wanted him from the beginning and he went nuts when he was drafted. A few years later when he had his cup of coffee with Greenville, his family and ours were some of the only people in the stands (that's what happens when you have a game on the same day as Clemson's opening game here in SC). His family was super nice, they spent all their time ripping on his haircut and choice of music. His dad and uncle spent half the game talking and explaining stuff to my then 10 year old son. We had been to the previous game and they spent a lot of time talking with @Detts , so having a ten year old to talk to was likely an improvement :)

Thanks Beni, I hope you find your stroke again in KC
The defense was awesome and I wish you had never cut your hair

Can't believe the entire '18 outfield is already gone*

Driving somewhere most likely
My boys are big Benintendi fans, beginning with the fact that their names (Andrew and Ben) are contained within his.
During the Summer of 2016 we went to a couple SeaDogs games while visiting the in-laws. They hung on his every move, getting a kick every time he was announced. He had some great games, hit a HR or two and was flying on the bases and in the field. He even out performed Moncada during that SSS. You could tell he wouldn't be in Portland long. Once he was on the Sox, they always would ask me how he was doing during the games they weren't watching.
Last night my oldest actually let out an "Oh No!" when I told him. Thanks for "the catch," but more importantly creating a connection to the game for my boys.

Thx for the great catches, esp the one in 2018 WS Gm 2 (only Sox playoff game I’ve ever attended!). Sadly, the WS Champs jersey my son wanted after 2018 was a Beni one, so now time for a replacement.
