Killing some time before the NFL games today, I was watching this video of Gronk and Edelman talking about Dont'a Hightower.

While I've always known what a winner he was, I never realized how his injuries possibly prevented even more championships. If he doesn't get hurt in 2015 and 2017, I wonder how close the Pats could have gotten to a 5-peat. Those two losses were close enough that one big Hightower play could have changed the team's fortunes.

2011 National Champion at Bama
2012 rookie year, lost AFCCG
2013 lost AFCCG
2014 made one of biggest plays in SB win
2015 injured MCL, missed playoffs (loss in AFCCG)
2016 made one of biggest plays in SB win
2017 injured pectoral, missed playoffs (loss in SB)
2018 made multiple big plays in SB win

I never noticed it before, but check out Sammy Morris on the field-level replay. He starts out 10 yards behind Connolly when he gets the ball, then stops moving at one point because he figures Connolly's gonna go down, then still ends up being a lead blocker down the field. The double-take by Gronk is subtle but funny too. "Oh, you're really doing this?"

I have no idea where to put this trivia piece.

The New York Jets are 5th all time for AFC East championships.

Pats
Bills
Dolphins
Colts
Jets

Happy Pats over Titans Ice Bowl 2003 and Double Pass / Formations over Ravens 2014 day!
My top ten non-Super Bowl playoff wins for NE (the years are for the season; the games were played in Jan of the following calendar year):

1. 1985 AFC Championship Game over Miami - the "squish the fish" game
2. 2018 AFC Championship Game over Kansas City - Brady leads them in OT
3. 2014 AFC Divisional Game over Baltimore - the game T4W references above
4. 2001 AFC Divisional Game over the Raiders - tuck rule game in the blizzard; best FG ever kicked
5. 2004 AFC Divisional Game over Indianapolis - just a complete destruction of Peyton Manning
5. 2004 AFC Championship Game over Pittsburgh - Steelers talked so much trash before that game and NE stomped them
6. 2005 AFC Divisional Game over San Diego - amazing win when NE wasn't at their best
7. 2003 AFC Championship Game over Indianapolis - taking it to Peyton and the Colts
8. 2011 AFC Championship Game over Baltimore - the game where the Pats had a bunch of nobodies in the secondary
9. 2016 AFC Championship Game over Pittsburgh - another blowout win over Roethlisberger and the Steelers
10. 2011 AFC Divisional Game over Denver - blowout of the Tim Tebow Broncos

#6 was the 2006 season

I'd pick fog bowl 1996 over the Tebow destruction

2004 divisional over Peyton was great, but the 2003 AFCCG was better IMO

I'd also probably pick the 1996 AFCCG over the 2016 AFCCG

The ‘01 AFCCG (Bledsoe relieves Brady) is up there for me.
Agreed, I think the San Diego and 2016 AFCCG would be dropped from my list in favor of the 96 fog bowl and the 01 AFCCG. I also was only like 4 and a half for squish the fish so that would come off my list in favor of the 96 AFCCG

Edit the Tebow game would also not be on my list
