Still not in midseason form. But it's early, the first month is really to work things out, once we get rolling there will be less Zo...

My thought as well. Not sure what was going through Jackson’s mind there
Yeah, that was weird, and the outcome was bad. But aren't there penalties (and/or 'unwritten laws') against targeted a QB with a block during an interception return?

Good question. But if the QB is racing headlong to tackle a guy who has the ball after an interception, he should be fair game to be blocked just like any other player. But I don't know what the exact rules are there. @CFB_Rules ???

The funniest thing is JCJ is motioning for DMC to come back across the field and follow him... but he doesn't even bother looking for anyone to block

Edit: that has a great chance of going for six if JCJ can get to Wilson. But then we wouldn't have seen the Harris rumble.

A blindside or low block to a QB will indeed be flagged, but Jackson had the chance to land a frontal block based on the angle in the film. Of course, it happens in real time and seems like a mental error that should result in a teachable moment.

If the QB is legitimately trying to make a tackle, then the restrictions are similar to those on a wide receiver coming across the middle. The QB is considered "defenseless" after a change of possession. Meaning you can hit them, but you can't go high, can't spear them, etc.

If the QB is NOT trying to actively make the tackle, then you can't even touch them.

I think blindside/low on anybody will draw a flag - I thought QBs had some additional protection (since it used to be standard to target them after INTs).

EDIT - thanks, @CFB_Rules! That last line is the one I was trying to recollect.

I think JCJ just got fooled by:
1. Wilson coming up field aggressively to tackle, since most QBs either do nothing, or play it like a kicker and make themselves the last guy
2. Wilson's speed, he's quick for a QB and he came full speed

Should we take BB spending half of the recap on a couple of special teams plays (not the block) as a meta-commentary from BB on his offensive and defensive units?
No. He has always done this. And TBH ST has sucked this year for the most part until Sunday.

Kind of a reverse-breakdown on Belichick. Seriously cracked me up. The punchline is at the end when he asks a question.

It's almost like he's disappointed there was only one punt. Like he had wanted to work on something and didn't get a chance.

There was an extended clip scene in one of the Do Your Job versions or one of the other recap things from a super bowl season where it’s just a series of people going crazy on the sidelines for great plays while Bill just stands there looking stoic. Everyone is throwing their hands in the air or jumping and there is BB, arms crossed, looking like he’s already planning for what is next.

Man, this guy.
When he leaves, we're going to wander the desert for generations, and will not know where our father's bones are buried.

This reminds me of when I was in Japan I watched high school baseball. I won't go through the whole narrative, but in a huge rivalry game, a kid made a sequence of exceptional plays that for all practical purposes won the game, ending a 4-year losing streak to the hated rival. When he returned to the dugout, there were no high fives, no cheers even. His coach made eye contact from the other end of the dugout and gave him a nod. For that coach that was like turning cartwheels. I think Bill's "only punted once" was praise of the highest order for Josh.
