Total robbery. Wow. Why would the Bears do this? They couldn't get better compensation for Bennett? Arguably a top-5 TE in the league?! Wow.

90 catches, almost 1000 yards 2 seasons ago. Missed last 5 games last year with fractured ribs.

Talk about sending an FU to the league before the draft!

Edit: If Cooper lives up to his potential, Long returns to form, and they find a solid power running back, this team is STACKED.

I can't wait to check Gang Green in an hour or so...the hurt will be so strong.

Between here and everywhere.
Helllllllllo two legit pass catching TE's.

Remember how unstoppable the Patriots offense looked with Sweetleaf and Gronk?

How about with Bennett, Gronk, Edelman, Amendola, and Hogan?

This is totally anecdotal but I remember that Bennett was like the only Bear who played hard for 60 minutes during the 2014 massacre game and I immediately loved the dude.

I wonder if they're looking at the Jets and Broncos, teams with solid tandem CBs, and are looking for ways to work the middle of the field again next season?

He's a really good player. I don't know salary but excited to have a guy if his caliber on the team added to the offense.

Nice upgrade? How about a massive upgrade.
Yeah, someome could legitimately argue that we just picked up a guy that's as good or better than guys like Thomas, Cameron, Witten, Olsen, etc...as the SECOND TE!

This is a borderline elite talent the Pats just added.

Edelman or Hogan might drop a ton of balls next year when they make their cuts and realize they are totally wide open.

I wasn't gonna go to the third helping of whiskey, but now I feel like I must.

I love this. If they can add a legitimate RB, their red zone offense will be absurd.

Bennett has had 55, 65, 90!!!!, and 53 catches with Jay Cutler and Eli Manning throwing to him over the last 4 years.

He's going to be insane in this offense.

These moves are borderline GFIN moves, aren't they? Is BB pushing all his chips into the middle of the table for the next couple of years?

Remember - we also get Lewis back next season. Imagine passing plays with Gronk, Bennett, Edelman, Hogan, and Lewis on the field next year?

Holy shit.

Assuming everyone stays moderately healthy and the oline improves, this offense could make 07 look average. Gronk and Bennett in the red zone? Good luck!

I'm seriously sitting here in disbelief.

Assuming no decline from Brady and just moderate health throughout the year, this offense is going to be an absolute freakin' w-a-g-o-n.

I don't think so. Most objective opinions of the jones for cooper and long move suggest it's a net downgrade for '16 Pats.

I had heard Chi was shopping Bennett recently or allowing him to find teams that want to pay his salary.

It depends how much he was paid but probably not much less then the 4th rounder they are getting now.
But that means they would be $5M poorer.

If Bennett had left the Bears as a FA after '16 what type of compensation might the Bears received in '18?
You have to predict what he will sign for. Unless he has a terrible 2016, it's hard to see him fetching less than a 4th. If he ends up signing a contract above $7.5m per year or so, it could be a third.
