Morikawa has had three non-negative strokes gained putting stats this year:

• 1.345 @ The Memorial (2nd)
• .988 @ WGC Workday (1st)
• .812 @ Sony Open (T7)

There are no stats yet for The Open, but suspect it'll be his fourth non-negative tournament. He has 2 wins and 8 top 10s and had made the cut 16 of 19 tournaments. He's basically been a dominant player with shit putting all year outside of 4 tournaments.

He has shown he can contend without the putter, but has proven he's a winner when he putts well.

In other words, his week to week variance is not that high as you suspect.
