I'm less than three innings into it, and it's a major upgrade. I think we're going to get more baseball, less stupid on a nightly basis and it will be refreshing. I liked Donny O, it's not a knock on him, but Dave is much more of a pros pro, and I think it will be great for Jerry, too.

Let's wait until they are 4 hours into a 14-2 game in late August to fully judge. That is when the insanity normally kicked in..

That's may be where it started, but as the years went on the actual game situation had little to do with when the broadcast team would opt to indulge themselves in bouts of silliness.

Note: I am excluding last season when things sharpened up in the broadcast, especially Remy.

shouldn't the blame go to the production team and not Don? probably Don's humor didn't mesh with the producer's sense of goofiness

I am not interested in doling out blame pie on this one. I do hope the "silliness quotient" this year is along the lines of last season.

Which is why you bring a guy like Lou in occasionally to easily transition Castig off O'Brien. Which they did. Chad, will EEI give Neverett multiple years to mesh or will Lou get another shot?

I listen to a lot of radio games and will miss the team of O'Brian and Castiglione. They synced so well together IMO.
I'm in the same boat, I listen more than watch. O'Brien was great and meshed well with Castig. Big shoes to fill

No, I think he will still be doing the Women's NCAA Tournament during March.
If he does his normal schedule he might miss opening day. He's been doing the women's final four and that is 4/3 & 4/5. Though he could hop on a plane and go back and forth between Indy & Cleveland.

I watched a couple innings tonight and thought Dave did a great job and meshed well with Remy. I liked Orsillo, but this is at worst an even swap for the listener.

My only complaint with the O'Brien era last night was that they were really trying to push the nicknames. Other than that, O'Brien's a pro who calls a good game.
