Pretty much sums it up...

"So far Sources say Durant is down to Thunder or Warriors AND he's seriously considering the Celtics. Shout out to Sources"

"Shout out to sources" = "This is what people I know are seeing on Twitter."

I always hate this stage of the game where no one knows shit, but they can't be left behind in the inside scoop game.

I think you might have missed the sarcasm in the tweet

Really? This has made for a fun weekend for me. I think its awesome theater and one of the reasons I think the NBA, at present, is the best sports league going. One guy's decision can literally change the face of the entire Association.
While I've been quasi following the Durant decision this weekend myself, I couldn't disagree more about the nba being the "best league going." The fact that only a handful of teams have a shot at the championship each year, and even worse, only a handful of teams have the chance to join/replace this group in the next few years is beyond problematic.

Parity is good for sports, and the nba had the least by a wide margin.

Parity being good for sports is an open question.

No matter whether there are super teams or not in any given year, taking the top 16 teams regardless of conference to the playoffs and seeding them 1-16 would make the league so much better, just one easy change (schedules can stay exactly the same, still not fair but much more so).

Just going off of that. Could certainly be wrong, but I'm not seeing where.

Here. To be fair, that Yahoo piece is five months old when the cap information wasn't as clear.

–Renounce all or almost all of the free agents and dump Bogut. That’s the price, right there, to get max space, and the Warriors have known this for more than a year.

Schilling with a thoughtful and passionate recruiting pitch to KD. Here's some of it.

In the winter of 2003 I was ‘sort of’ in that same boat. I had options. The first? I could go to NY, and become a Yankee, and possibly win the 28th? 29th? World Championship in their storied history.

Or?

I could go to Boston and do something no one had seen in their lifetimes, help break an 86 year old curse.

Now there’s no Celtic curse, far from it. Some of your sports greatest players have donned the Irish Green and Clover leaf of the Celts.

Bill Russell? Bird? Havlicek? Bob Cousy? Pretty sure you know them as well or better than I ever could.

Why does that matter? For this reason. Tradition. People here in NE aren’t transplants, they aren’t bandwagon folks. You are born, and raised here, and the Celtic, Sox, Bruins and Pats are not ‘your teams’ they are part of your life. I had NO IDEA it was what it was until I came here.I know passion, I lived for the game, but I never took the ball in front of people who loved their players and their teams more than these folks.

As I learned in the winter of ’03, when I was informed families were actually PRAYING for me to come here over their thanksgiving table, this place is a different world.

And that’s not bad different.

Okay. The only difference im seeing in those scenarios is keeping Ezeli (in the Yahoo scenario) vs keeping Iggy (in the blogs scenario). The slight raise the cap ended up taking since then doesn't change that math. I see your point about Iggy being on the recruiting team and having a relationship with KD (which I was t aware of), but if they keep him and me Ezeli go, they have no bi men and almost no money to sign anyone. You're right, they don't *have to get rid of Iggy, but in all practicality, how are they filling out the roster if they don't?

espn: Chris Broussard reports the latest on Kevin Durant, who is expected to make his free-agency decision Monday morning. "It's down to four teams officially."

Not really surprised. Your average Boston fan, across all sports, is kind of a shitbag; SoSH is cool because it only puts up with that from DH3 and a couple others.

But Royce is a good dude, he shouldn't have to put up with that.

My math, fwiw (feel free to make any corrections...)

$94.14M Salary Cap 2016

$16.66 Thompson
$15.30 Green
$12.11 Curry
$11.13 Iguodala
$5.78 Livingston
$5.01 Ezeli (cap hold, 250% of current salary)
$1.18 Looney
$0.98 Jones (rookie scale, #30 pick)
$0.95 Jason Thompson (stretched)
$0.54 McCaw (league min.)
$1.62 Three unused roster spots (league min. x 3)
====
$71.26M committed

(Assumption: Bogut's expiring $12.6M will be extremely easy to offload in this crazy offseason.)

If Durant is willing to take a slight haircut ($22.9M) for his first year of a 1+1, they can fit him with all the guys on the above list. That's a $3.7M discount in the context of his $300M deal with Nike and the $200M plus he stands to make over the next 4 years.

If he wants the full $26.6M he's entitled to next season, the Ws would have either renounce Ezeli's cap hold or trade Livingston. Not both.

Which city's fan base isn't comprised of mostly shitbags?
Memphis. Milwaukee. Indiana. Toronto (Leafs and Raptors fans both). Charlotte. Atlanta. OKC. I could go on.

Boston fans have a rep for being particularly dickish, both in-person and on the Internet. It's a thing.

I'm aware and not trying to defend Boston fans. And as dejesus noted, I'm aware Boston, Philly, NY, LA have notoriety. I just think if you're delving into the comment section or Twitter replies, you're generally going to find ass hats (and that doesn't pertain to sports only). Ymmv.

That is horrible.
Apparently (from comments on that tweet) it's a repeat of the same tweet from April for some reason. Also for whatever reason he doesn't mention any of the numbers of other fans from other teams that commented there... Not excusing the behavior, but it's also a bit odd for Royce to do.

Royce was discussing his Instagram account, not his twitter account.

Boston, NY and Philly are the main shitbag cities. Fact.
Funny how the shittiest fans come from the most represented teams. I'm sure the only reason Boston, NY and Philly has the reputation for having shitbag internet fans is because there are just more of them. Exposure.
