A Scud Away from Hell
1st sweep by an AFCE opponent since 2002? Don't think so. Two Game Balls & A Dildo!
  • Brady: 4 TD / 0 INT with newly found accuracy on deep routes
  • Ghost: huge 51 yarder at the end of the half
And the Dildo goes to yet another undisciplined outing by Rexy's units, with several dumb penalties and blown calls.

Bonus Game Ball to BB for sporting this early Santa/Grinch combo look:

On to the bye at 7-1. Couldn't have asked for more.

Brady was great at everything today.

Balanced offensive attack

Bills' penalties... Rex will always be Rex

Halfway mark game ball to the training staff and lady luck -- can't remember the last time this team was so healthy this far into the season.

Most of the Bills hands issues seemed to come early in the game when it was absolutely pouring. I think the gameball there should go to Rex for thinking that a gameplan based on threading balls into tight windows along the sidelines was a good idea in a rainstorm.

And I think Hogan absolutely deserves one - Brady seems to be able to hit him (or he adjusts well enough with the ball in the air) to give them a legitimate deep game - which opens a lot of other things up.

Knocked down pretty hard. He didn't even move when the Chargers receiver was pushed into the sidelines.
Obviously wrong thread, so sorry, but when we came from commercial Gumble said "Wade Phillips just collapsed on the sidelines." Not the most accurate account. Hope he's ok.

Brady's the MVP at this point in the season right? Who is close besides maybe Elliot?

7-1 and not close to peaking. D needs to get better though
OK, Bill. ;)

Brady was in terminator mode today. That was a dismantling.
Is there anyone else in the league where sitting him is an aggressive act... against the opponent.

"Aw shit, Brady's sitting. He ever sits..." Like an FU sitting.

Hogan deserves a mention.
Hogan has been passing the casual fan test. Like, when someone who likes the weekly watching of the Patriots and knows stars but not all the players keeps going, "Who the hell is THAT guy??"

Frankly, this was a gloriously boring win. It's great--an opportunity to catch up with friends, relax, and watch some football excellence. Good times.

Brady and Gronk up, of course, but I'll throw out Chung's name for the bottom of the list.

Down: Rowe, Collins (kind of invisible today, holding notwithstanding)...

The OL protection and run blocking wasn't its best, but I'm pleased with the lack of penalties.

Brady- maybe he can play until 44 what the hell do I know.
Dola
Hogan and his deep play ability has been something this offense has been missing for a long time.
Malcolm 2 weeks in a row where's he's looked like one of the best corners in the league.

This is printed gold.

Chris Hogan (ahem) was the Patriot involved in the play with 3:38 left in the third and New England running a quick throw out near the left sideline. Asked if he noticed the foreign object, Hogan said, “I think I did, out of the corner of my eye, but I wasn’t really focused on that.”

Tom Brady thought a flag was thrown on the play, according to running back LeGarrette Blount. "I said, 'No, that’s a dildo!' " Blount related. "They got that thing kicked off the field quick. Nobody was touching that. You don’t know where that’s been."

A locker over, running back James White sat slack-jawed. He had no idea.

Neither did wide receiver Julian Edelman. I asked him for his reaction. "What are you talking about?" was the reply.

I showed him the illegal and inappropriate GIF.

"Bills Mafia," he said. "Doing it up big."

McCourty was really hitting out there -- the whole secondary laid some licks. I haven't seen such a hard-hitting game on both sides in a long time.

Deadspin has a great item on McCourty hitting Tate.

I was in the car when the dildo appeared. I hope someone can upload a clip of the 98.5 broadcast. Zolak is going on about a flag on the field for a bit, and then he and Socci go on to observe that something yellow came out of the stands. I cannot remember exactly what Socci said, but he made it clear it was something he could not fully describe on air.

So we've hit the bye week, let's see if we get any news on extensions. Butler is a particularly interesting case. While it's great to have the first round tender, I could definitely see a top tier team throwing out some cash and a late round first. The good news for Belichick is they have more money than anyone else, though they also have a number of players hitting free agency. Is Belichick inclined to reach out with an under-market 3-4 year offer to Butler, or would he rather let it play out?

As for the rest, I'd love to see one of Hightower or Collins signed. The good news is Roberts looks legit, so I wouldn't be as terrified if we lose one of them and upgrade at another position like DE.

Did Rowe really play as bad as some were suggesting? I thought he was usually in decent position, and was victimized a bit by every single ticky tack contact he made being called DPI.

I thought he played pretty well personally... and a lot of the PI was either phantom or stuff that is either not typically called and/or was hand checking by the receiver as much as it was on Rowe. Also the Pats D def seemed to play a bit more prevent at some point so that may have made him look a bit worse than he was.

On the later PI called on Rowe, the receiver was GRABBING Rowe's hand the last five yards, which is what the offficials mistook for DPI. Ridiculous.

Game balls. TB12, Gronk, Julian, Amendola, High

I think also in the first quarter the receiver had his arm behind his back pushing Rowe off so that his arm was then pinned there when Rowe jumped to try and bat the ball away.

Brady looked like Roethlisberger today; just buying time with movement and delivering big plays down field.

This will forever be known as the dildo game however. Me and my father laughed about it for a solid 20 minutes during the game; including some gems from the game thread which were just outstanding. Might be the hardest I've laughed all year.

Speaking of Dola, what a great game all around. I can't find a still or GIF of it but the block he had on Edelman's TD was tremendous. Rewound it and showed my oldest 3 or 4 times how it cleared the way for Jules to get up and in.

Brady was textbook with his pocket movement and seemed to read everything that the Ryan defense threw at him. Scrambles for a key first down and threw a nice deep ball. It's kind of like watching Michael Jordan in his prime.

Gronk, Amendola, Hogan, and Edelman all deserve kudos. And, Edelman was back over 9 yards per reception; should be a well timed bye for both him and Bennett.

Goat horns are still due:

- Defensive front 7. Too many missed opportunities to drop Taylor for a loss. And too many holes for the RB's, just like the last time they played the Bills. Hightower is the one exception; he's having a monster season. And how the hell do you let the punter scramble for 15 yards after dropping the ball?

- The CBS broadcast. It would have been nice to see how the punt team reacted when Schmidt couldn't get the kick away. Don't they have cameras up high anymore? The broadcast team was awful in all other phases of the game as well.

- Refs. 'Nuff said.
