My first thought is I hope Dominguez can eventually take some heat off Judge because nobody else did the past two years. Dominguez works the count, which is how the Yankees used to hit up and down the lineup. Since centerfield has always been hallowed ground, Dominguez might get the first crack. He has been playing there for the past two weeks.

It's all but official and the news is all over Twitter. This is very exciting and gives us something to pay attention to other than how much the Yankees suck over the final month.

Oh yeah!

10 days ago I talked about how NY had it in their own power to promote four guys to try to reinvigorate the team whenever they wanted, now all four will be up.

Makes a lot of sense. Give live MLB reps in relatively low stress environment for a month and see what you've got. If Jasson hits .125 in September, you know he needs more seasoning. If he performs well, he hasn't won the job in 2024 but you have a pretty good sense for roster planning in the offseason. Volpe is has cut down the strike out rate a decent amount and his ABs have been better on the occasions I've seen. He also has a pretty low BABIP. If he finishes strong and Jasson has a nice month, things look more promising for this franchise.

Surprised no one posted this, but Dominguez grudgingly admitted (with a smile) that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were his favorite players growing up. When you remember that he was born in 2003, you see just how early his dad fully immersed him in the game.

I like the fact that Jasson wanted to give that interview with Karl Ravech in English. He seems to have a quiet confidence about himself.

ESPN also reported Jasson is named after Jason Giambi. Father was and is a Yankee fan.

That part we knew from the start, from page 1 of this thread:

"Before Dominguez was born in February 2003, his father, Felix Dominguez, and his mother, Dorca Gonzalez, were trying to settle on a name. His dad had the perfect one: Jasson, like Jason Giambi. Yes, Felix Dominguez, an enormous Yankees fan, really did name his son after Jason Giambi, and, yes, that second "s" really is superfluous and it's pronounced like Jason."

Thanks. The memory fades at 76. I truly did not know the pronunciation was Jason.

Ha, reminds me of the report on Rocky Marciano I gave in a college Spanish class. The professor asked after why he was nicknamed the Martian. Rocky’s original name was Marchegiano, for trivia purposes.

“Dominguez (20 yrs old) is the youngest player since at least 1901 with 3+ HR and 7+ hits in their first 5 career games“-Katie Sharp

You guys are getting soft. A Yankee super prospect won't be able to get back until the All Star break next year when he'll be all of 21. What a tragedy! I guess I'm a little sad that they'll get to control his rights for another year in his prime. That sucks.

Boone said surgery has not been scheduled yet. Recovery time for a position player is 9-10 months.

Also per Dominguez: he felt pain Last Sunday, tried to play thru it. Then told the yankee training staff on Wednesday. But then played Thursday/Friday and Saturday..
,
Dominguez said he didn’t feel any pain in his elbow until Sunday, played through it, told trainers about it Wednesday and it just kept getting worse.

Will they? Shouldn't he accumulate service time even on the IL?

Happy 21st birthday to our favorite Martian!

Pretty curious to see how he looks in a few weeks, they're not going to rush him back but reports over the winter were that he was progressing very well.
