Getting tons of hate in western PA today.  People just can't fathom that the Patriots won and they are not hesitant to tell you about it.  I must've heard 50 cheater/deflategate comments today.  I just told them to keep the hate coming.  I've had 15 and 16 year old kids telling me it doesn't matter because the Steelers still have 6 Super Bowl wins.  I just laughed and asked them to tell me their memories of those 70's glory days and they just stare at me.

You mean those Steelers teams that were filled to their fucking gills in steroids?

So, here's what I want to see:

1--BB's final speech the day before.
2--Pats locker room video. Patriots.com usually has it.

I wanted to hate Dilfer, but he has begged for forgiveness (and did so before last night).  In the spirit of the moment, I'm willing to forgive him.

There are plenty of others who ought to be up against the wall long before Trent Dilfer.

It's really funny that while the Pats as a franchise are so despised, there are pretty much nothing but likable players on the team.

Put aside Brady and Belichick, is there anyone that people would irrationally hate?  Who doesn't like Gronk?  Wilfork, Revis, Edelman, Vereen, LaFell, Collins... I've never heard of opposing fans disliking those guys.

That was everything I could've imagined. The sheer joy after Kearse, the chants for "Beast Mode" ringing out, then all of a sudden, the horror of the interception. Also, there was one jersey in that crowd that predates their newest 2012 uniform revamp, and nothing from their pre-2002 redesign. Ask any of those kids who "The Boz" was, and I'm sure you'd get nothing but blank faces.

That is also awesome, but for different reasons. After the regulation Bergeron goal, they all knew what was coming and marched forward, like cows into the abattoir. The Seattle crew, on the other hand, were given hope, and it was violently ripped away.

Nah.

A) that TV is old and he was probably looking to upgrade, anyway.
B) he knew he was being recorded and went uber dramatic in a deliberate fashion.  He's basically sitting there for 7 seconds trying to decide whether to go for it or not.

Yeah - that ancient projection TV was slated for demolition. That might've been staged win or lose  - with it getting smashed in a victory dance with a different outcome.

I consider myself a millennial and I would never do this for the exact reason other posts allude to - it's one thing to record the final play, or a celebration, but a whole game?!? This may be another example of the proposed divide between two subsets of millennials - leading Ms and following Ms.

I felt bad for the Leafs fans in that video.

I feel the same with this one, especially since Leafs fans tend to be very loyal and very diehard despite their team dumping on them continuously for the last 50 years. That was as brutal a nut punch as there is in sports. We've had our share of those.

That said, I am enjoying the Seahawks videos and all the salty tears of fans of other teams today. The Patriots have dealt with so much shade and BS, I feel justified in enjoying it. There are two Seahawks "fans" at my workplace who are sudden enthusiasts and who have been complete dickbags the last couple of weeks. Ergo, fuck them.

And everyone there is with their cameras out filming it. And no one finds a pretty insane event the least bit scary? It's gotta be staged.

Still funny, but staged.

I can't get over Cris Carter.  After watching Dilfer bodyslam him for about the 4th time, another thing stands out.

Early on, Dilfer mentions that TB/BB are on the "Mt Rushmore" of the greats.

Carter responds by saying something like "We hall-of-famers don't do comparisons..." blah blah blah as if to rub it in that he's HOF.  If Dilfer were a more petty man, like me, he would've said something along the lines of there being no such restriction amongst Super Bowl winners.

I believe that CC's tears are the sweetest and most voluminuous of all.

Thinking about this today, and this is the biggest load of unadulterated bullshit going. These athletes absolutely compare themselves to each other. Carter probably doesn't want to admit that Rice is the greatest receiver of all time and if he does, he certainly believes that he's the second greatest...

There's little question that Cris Carter is the second greatest wide receiver ever

in Vikings' franchise history.

Those old projection television screens are plastic. The real danger is the wood/screws around the edge, and if somehow you dove so far in and broke the glass the image if projected off of. I mean, it's dumb regardless, but it's probably safer than running into, say, a wall. Or falling onto a glass table.

To Monbo's point, though, the fact that they were videotaping it leads me to believe that regardless of the outcome, that TV was getting destroyed. It could very well be real emotion there, though.

I think it speaks volumes that you never see any Seahawks fan with a Reebok branded jersey. Ever. I was at the Nike employee store on Friday and you wouldn't believe the amount of uppity people buying Seahawks gear. The person at the register said it had been like that all week. Or, everyone is so rich that another jersey doesn't matter much. Maybe I should go back and see if they have Pats championship garb. Should be plenty of inventory.

Edit: Didn't realize this was already brought up.

I just wanted a Method Man reference.  Yeah, the TV dive was probably staged, and didn't even hurt all that much.  It was still a stunt worthy of Steve-O.

I know that New England has its fair share of bandwagon fans, but I think I saw a max of two or three pieces of fan gear that were made and purchased before last year.

When does the statute of limitations on joining the "bandwagon" end?

The Pats have been the premiere franchise in the NFL for the past 14 years, and one can argue that the fan base truly mushroomed as far back as 1996 during Parcells' Super Bowl season, 19 years ago.

Maybe what I think of as bandwagon is different from what other think, but at this point it would be like making the claim in 1986 that Sox fans who go back to 1967 are bandwaggoners.

Reading through the Russell Street Report (Ravens forum) Super Bowl game thread is great. In particular, one poster goes from proclaiming God will stop the Patriots from winning to full righteous outrage that the "cheaters" won, proving that cheating pays, etc. etc. while sporting a Ray Lewis avatar. It's delicious.

The video of the Seattle fans is just the best-pure elation followed by pure devastation.

Has there ever been a championship moment where total victory was so close only to be ripped away that quickly? Maybe the Indians in 97?

Super Bowl XXIII - on the last offensive play called by Bill Walsh in his career. Montana drove 92 yards with 3:20 left in the 4th to score. Cinci got the ball back with 30 seconds, but two incompletions (wait for it.... Boomer to Collinsworth for both) ended it.

2001 World Series was close but not quite: the Womack double off Rivera moved Arizona's win probability from 0.35 to 0.85 in an instant.  It went from the Yankees being a GIDP from the trophy to Arizona having the winning run 90 feet away.

The ridiculous Laettner no-look basket as time expired from the NCAA basketball tournament in the early 90s was a dramatic and instantaneous turnaround.  That may not have been in the finals though, maybe just the final four.

I have to say, I kind of dig that. It's corny, and I wouldn't buy one of them, but the Seattle fans are super into their young and exciting team and I like it. I was at the game and they were twice as loud as the Pats fans, and although there were some dummies afterwards, the majority of them I saw or talked to were courteous and pleasant (SSS alert, I guess).

I know this is an Eff tha haterz thread, but I don't include the Hawks fans in that group FWIW.
