I miss deflategate.

At least we had something to do.
Well this fun little article (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/25/tom-brady-will-pass-jerry-rice-as-oldest-non-kicker-in-a-super-bowl/) led, of course, to the comments section being loaded with Deflategate nonsense.

And someone posted this that is just a great reminder of what that was all about.

Berman: What is the evidence of a scheme or a conspiracy?
Nash: There is clear evidence in the texts (between McNally and Jastremski) that (Brady) knew...
Berman: On January 18?
Nash: No, not for that specific game.
Berman: That's the only game we're talking about. The Wells Report relates only to one game. Whether it happened before, who knows. There is no finding in this case that there was anything done by Mr. Brady (in the AFC title game).

From: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/judge-grills-nfl-brady-on-evidence-in-deflategate-case-3-things-to-know-25267657/

It is still astounding to me that Chin said there was clear and compelling evidence that Brady led a scheme to deflate footballs in the AFCCG when the NFL itself, in federal court, SAID THEY HAD NO EVIDENCE OF IT.

You sure you miss Deflategate? :)

Chin was a Jets fan and said “fuck it, I’m going to ignore my professional responsibilities and rule agains Tom Brady because I want something to brag about in cocktail parties for the rest of my life...and besides, it’s just football.”

Brandon Marshall is a white hat. This should be read with care:

“The league is not competitive. We all should be ashamed. Even you guys that’s been covering them on TV should be ashamed,” Marshall exclaimed on a radio guest spot, per Shalise Manza Young of Yahoo Sports.”

Though, Marshall did not stop there. The rant continued.

“Players should be ashamed, coaches should be ashamed, owners should be ashamed. How do we let these guys do this year in and year out?,” Marshall shouted.”

Marshall then addressed the Patriots’ organization.

“Congratulations, you guys are phenomenal, you guys are great can’t get any better. But how do 31 other organizations let this happen?

In a nutshell, this explains Deflategate. Head coaches and GMs have no defensible answer to his questions, certain owners get pissed, and so ...

Speaking of movies, any guesses on what the inspirational film BB will show the team in the days before the game?

My guess: Eastwood's latest, "The 15:17 to Paris"

He should talk about how the NFL is supposed to be all about parity

And then show them Kayaanisqatsi: A Life Out of Balance.

Hey any word on those Jags that just so happened to get dinged up on back to back plays with time running out in the 4th?

No?

I DO hope they make a full recovery.

Maybe the reason the Rams lost is because Isaac Bruce didn't pray hard enough.
Apparently it was because Buckley was picked up off the street and sucked but knew exactly where to be because the Pats cheated. One of the few times I appreciated Hank coming in with a minor snip at the guest.

I was stuck in a car today in which the driver was listening to Fox Sports Radio. The only talking dolt worse than Max Kellerman -- Rob Parker -- was one of the hosts. Within a five-minute span, he said:

-- The Jaguars had a 10-1 differential in penalties in the AFCCG
-- Everything about the Patriots success is tainted
-- Nick Foles was going to lead the Eagles to multiple touchdowns on the Pats defense in a Philly win
-- It would be "for the betterment of the NFL" for the Eagles to win
-- and Tom Brady was the "LOAT" (Luckiest of all time) because he couldn't have led the Pats to those SB wins w/o everything else going their way

If I had a hammer, that radio would have been toast

So I found out to my horror that Rob Parker is allowed to vote for the Baseball Hall of Fame and after making sure the same wasn’t true for football (it isn’t, thank God), I checked out his ballot:

1. Chipper Jones
2. Jim Thome
3. Trevor Hoffman
4. Gary Sheffield

5. Barry Bonds
6. Sammy Sosa
7. Roger Clemens

I thought that was funny.

That's great.

Given that Sheffield has admitted to steroid use, what is the conceivable argument for him being in and Bonds being out? Or for Sheffield over Bonds? It's Rob Parker so I know the answer either doesn't exist or is ludicrous, it is just such an obvious logical fail it's hilarious.

I’m not sure why the list is printed that way, but he did vote for Bonds.

https://www.theshadowleague.com/story/rob-parker-s-2018-baseball-hall-of-fame-ballot

His criteria is still head-shakingly bad. He professes not to care about PEDs (fine). He also has certain “magic numbers” (no problem with that), one of which is 500 homers. Sheffield hit 500, as did Sosa and Thome, so they’re in, no question. One problem with that: there’s no explanation for why he didn’t vote for Manny Ramirez, who also hit 500 homers.

If you dig deeper into this guy’s brain, you’ll find that he, for whatever reason, distinguished between positive PED tests (Manny) and just general knowledge of PED usage (Sheffield, Bonds). The latter is fine, the former is disqualifying. Ooo... kay.

Back in Sept of 2014, Rob Parker was on a panel that was asked if Brady would ever get back to another Super Bowl. His response? "No way, no how".

Guys like he and Kellerman just move the goal posts when these statements are brought up. Didn't Kellerman say that Brady is on his way down (when the fall off a cliff statement is brought up). I believe he said that Brady is "falling through ordinary" right now.

Kellerman has been claiming Brady’s flaming collapse has begun for a couple years now. After every great Brady performance, he a amends that to “I’m telling it’s coming. i’m not sure when but he’s going to stop being great or even good”.

No shit, Sherlock. The sun in going to burn up at some point too.

Kellerman has now officially reached Henchmen #2 status from a bad movie. He is waiting and waiting for the GOAT to stumble and then pull a muscle patting himself on the back claiming he was first in on the idea.
I thought that 1st Take couldn't be worse than it was with Bayless but Kellerman and Stephen A have proved me wrong.

My mistake on the extra space, but he voted for all seven. My issue is he goes on about how Brady is the biggest cheater and everything is tainted and shouldn’t be respected and then votes for four steroid users for the baseball Hall of Fame.

Kellerman has all but ruined HBO boxing. He's one of the worst sports personalities in the world, and perhaps the most arrogant. Seeing him try to argue technique or strategy with Roy Jones or Andre Ward is galling.

A little strange, but accurate. But how many non-Pats fans will actually watch it? And if they do, will it change their minds?

Hey, whaddya know, Goodell wants the catch rule changed!
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22257695/concerned-roger-goodell-wants-nfl-catch-rule-changed

Bank on it: next year Gronk gets the game-winning TD on the same play.
Oh yes...so that collective heads can explode and we can salt the earth with everyone's tears about how the league is in the tank for the Patriots.

"I'm not just somewhat concerned [about the rule]," Goodell said in an interview with FS1's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd." "I am concerned."
More likely than not, I am more concerned than not, that there is general knowledge of concern about what may or may not have likely (or not) happened with the catch rule emphasis change technicality worship meeeeee...

I'd say if you presented it right, to the right person at the right time, especially face-to-face, they'll watch it to be polite. They might even nod and say they get it now. To your face. Then go right back to spewing the same junk to their friends. I feel like most of these people know deep down they're full of shit already.

Strange.
Goodell revealed that he convened a summit earlier this month of five Hall of Fame receivers and several coaches to discuss the rule.
Nobody whose job it is to study, understand, and enforce NFL rules was invited?
