Has the Ravens twitter account said whether Janay apologized for her part in Ray's waiving?

It shouldn't have taken this long.  It's going to be interesting to see how they explain this one.  Unless they were completely lied to they are going to look like the only reason they took action is that their image was taking a hit.

If you believe they didn't see the video until now, I guess you can make an argument. If you believe they saw it earlier, as Mortensen reported, it makes them look worse. Ray Rice got what he deserved, though, so that's a good thing.

I think you also have to wonder whether the NFL essentially made them do it behind closed doors in order to save their face Sheriff Roger. I think he escapes with his job now, unfortunately.

Oh boy - dude's going to be REALLY mad about this.  If I were his wife, I would make myself scarce for the next couple of days....

Oh no doubt they are despicable. I know the Patriots would have released this guy the second he got into trouble.

You win.

Rice hopefully has played his last game in the NFL. I wouldn't have been shocked if Baltimore stood by him though. This is the same organization who honored a double murderer instead of cutting him.

The Player's Association has to object to this, don't they?

Sort of like every other union, though I'll have particular fun comparing them to the teacher's union.

Contracts aren't guaranteed in the NFL, so I don't see what they could possibly do.

Goodell needs to be next.

They can object all they want, but player contracts are non-guaranteed. The Ravens can cut whomever they want, whenever they want.
I think his salary number still counts against the cap. But yeah, he won't get any of it.  That'll fuck up the monthly budget at home.

We learned a valuable lesson today.  If you are going to hit a lady you best kill her.  The Ravens hate having things half done.

You don't think the Player's Association will say this is wrongful dismissal?

No....Did they fight for Aaron Hernandez and he has not even gone to trial yet?

Nope. You don't need to kill her. Just make sure you are not on camera.

What a joke.

Yeah, that is pretty weak. They have turned this situation into a shit storm because they were trying to sweep it under the rug with the 2 game suspension.

I hope this isn't the end of the matter. I hope Goodell, Harbaugh, and the Ravens twitter people still get called out. Sadly, I expect a lot of writers to say something like, "They cut him, case closed, let's move on, let the healing begin."

Is his salary this year guaranteed since he was released after the first game of the season?  Or no b/c he was suspended?  (Not that it really matters, of course.)

It's really what America has been doing best since the North allowed the southern treasonists to skate and abandoned Reconstruction turning their backs on thousands of formerly enslaved men and women. Healing > Truth and Justice

Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.

Good thing the new NFL domestic violence rule was just implemented to justify Rice's 2nd 1st offense. As an above poster stated, what an absolute joke.

Goodell is ahead, by leaps and bounds, as the current grand wizard douchenozzle of sports commissioners. Was Selig ever this hated? Bettman definitely is/was, but fewer people noticed.

As a Pats' fan I've hated him from almost the get-go and we all know why. But, I have no idea how he's perceived by other fan bases.

Rice's career is likely over. After his execrable performance last season, I can't see any team absorbing the PR hit associated with signing him, even assuming Goodell's indefinite suspension is lifted or overturned at some point.

I'm happy that I won't have to watch Ray Rice play football again, but I worry about the incentives that this punishment and the league's new DV policy create for the next woman who finds herself in this position. Regardless of whether you want to leave your man or work things out, it's not in your interest to see him lose his livelihood.

Which is at least one reason Rice's wife was willing to say whatever was necessary to help him after the incident.

It does create a perverse incentive, but what's the alternative?
