Behold this monstrosity: Most 50 Point Games in the NBA

I wanted to start a discussion about this particular basketball trivia. It is hard to score 50 in the NBA. Really Hard. Some highlights:

  • The immortal Corey Brewer dropped 50 on 4/11/14 against the Rockets
  • Andre Miller had 52 back in 2010 against the Mavericks
  • Tony Delk
  • Dana Barros
A lot of the older players I am not familiar with, but there are 58 players who had exactly one game with 50 points. Wild!

Tracy Murray was always the one that shocked me growing up.

More surprising to me are some of the multi-game people on that list. Would not have guessed/totally did not remember that Antawn Jamison scored 50 twice and Jamal Crawford scored 50 3 times.

Barros, Murray and Delk were either lights out shooters or the kind of streaky shooters that could get hot and go off. Andre Miller is really surprising.

Yea, Millers always been a pass first guy. But I have always loved the way he uses his ass as a point guard. Its a lost art nowadays, although Marcus Smart knows what to do with his bum.

Willie Burton scored 53 for the same Sixers team that Barros was on. And he did it on only 19 FGA.

Even stranger, (After doing the research for the Bill Russell Thread) Bill Russell, one of the top 10 players of all time (Did we finalize this LOL) never scored 40.
