Yea, I read that too, but then there are Portuguese speaking people that have Anderson taunting and berating Maia during the fight. Saying things like "where is your jujitsu" or "show me your jujitsu" and calling him a "playboy." Apparently, playboy in Brazil is a fight starting word when dropped. So I don't really know what camp to believe in the whole he disrespected me story.

Boring night of fights from Strikeforce. I still watched every second because I love MMA, but blech. The best fight of the night was Miller Vs Shields' corner, the Diaz brothers going nuts. Just giving more ammunition for the people that are still critical of and are on the fence about MMA. Dana White, on the other hand, tweeted (twittered? whatever) ":)." God knows he must have been laughing hysterically about how this night went. Three pretty boring decision fights and a brawl to end the night. Complete and utter win for the UFC.

The big thing, for me, is Henderson looked old tonight. And that was depressing. Dan is probably my favorite fighter and I had envisioned him coming to SF and steamrolling everyone. But he didn't look to be in very good shape, his BJJ was awful and he seemed unable to keep up with Shields. I don't know where he goes from this. Obviously he is still under contract and will continue to fight, but the first round aside, he looked depressingly bad. He has never been very good off his back, but that was just unacceptable.

All credit due to Shields, he survived a beatdown in the first round and kept his composure. I am going to guess he now heads for the UFC and gets a massive contract to come and fight GSP.

God, i want to see that video again. I could only pick out Melendez, Mayhem and Shields in the mele. I love the Diaz brothers but I missed them in the action. Awesome night for the UFC. Not so much for Strikeforce.

If only Nate Diaz wasn't in the middle of it getting in some soccer kicks it would have been the perfect night for the UFC and Dana White. Be interesting to see what, if any punishment comes from all this now.

Wow, I turned it off before all that went down. Mayhem is a regular on the Jason Ellis show on XM radio and he has been pretty outspoken about Shields not giving him a rematch after their last fight where, in typical fashion, Shields just laid on to of him for 25 minutes. Pretty sore loser-ish move on his part but relatively amusing.

That said, Jake Shields is awful. This fight was so so bad, and so very similar to most of his fights. He is so good at getting guys on the mat and staying on top, but he doesn't really try to advance his positions, he doesn't try to get submissions, at least when he fights real fighters, and he lays on top for round after round. It's unfortunate because he very clearly has some real skills but my god is he boring.

Um he repeatedly advanced his position against Hendo but since he has the punching power of a 5 year old girl he couldn't do much the numerous times that he got the mount on Saturday. It's been a bad month for MMA. Hopefully Machida/Shogun and Daley/Koscheck can fix that.

My guess is Shogun/Machida is five rounds of the same. The technical striking will be entertaining for some fans. However, I'm not expecting an amazing knock out or slick submission. No Rashad Evans repeat; but Koscheck/Daley has some potential.

Couture v. Toney being targeted for UFC 118. That's the event being held in Boston.

God, please, let this happen. I want to see Toney on his back with a helpless look on his face.

Aldo/Faber tonight! Fireworks, man.

Chael Sonnen confirms he's getting his ass kicked at ufc 117 against Anderson

"That is true on one condition: if diplomacy fails," Sonnen said. "I am giving Anderson Silva the fair chance to back out. But as sure as night follows day, if he does not heed my warning, I will declare war, and on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. his 15 minutes of fame will come to an abrupt halt."

Sonnen is going to get steam rolled

I don't know, but I hope it is soon. I can't think of anyone in the WEC that can really challenge him. Someone with his striking and ground game should be fighting higher level competition. I want to see it and I want to see it soon. I think he is going to be a massive problem for anyone who fights him.

Very disappointed about Griffin dropping out against Nog. Griffin isn't the most talented guy out there, but I love watching him. Lil Nog is dangerous and I'm not sure how many people are really going to want to step in on short notice to take that fight.

Yahoo is reporting that Jason Brilz is taking Griffin's place.

Anyone else Google Jason Brilz to find out who he was? Man, talk about a disappointing turn of events. He has an outstanding record and I'm sure he is a fine fighter but that fight just doesn't have the same draw as Lil Nog/Griffin.

Just ordered 113 for Saturday. Hopefully the fights don't disappoint.

I am pretty intrigued by the Mitrione-Kimbo fight. For all the folks who called Mitrione a pussy on TUF, the guy is strong as an ox and hits like a truck. Hopefully Kimbo decides to try and throw with him versus that nonsense with Houston Alexander.

We've had guys faking injuries, post-fight brawls and cowardly sucker punches - then Shogun not only knocks Machida out cold but he stops as soon as he realizes it and before the ref even moved in. Awesome on all counts. RIP the Machida Era.

As someone who much preferred Pride over UFC I've been intrigued by Fedor for a while in a way that only a young Tyson has been able to do for me in boxing. I was poking around the internet during the Williams-Cintron fight tonight and searched You Tube for Glazer-Fedor. I'm also a Jay Glazer fan and figured if anyone had done a special on Fedor it would be him. I was right and it doesn't look to be very old as there are very few viewings.

It's 5 parts and around 45 minutes but if you're a Fedor fan it will fly by. I'm just posting the links as I figure anyone who watches it will want to watch it full screen. Based on the number of viewings I figure most haven't had a chance to catch this documentary.

His ability to concentrate is unmatched in my opinion. The guy barely celebrates. Any way, it's a phenomenal watch.

We just saw two fighters fight their last fights in the UFC. Kimbo was never a MMA, in my opinion, it was all hype and he has been exposed. He has no knockout power and pretty huge holes in his game. Basically, you can beat him by letting him gas and hen cutting down his legs.

Paul Daley got cut, as right he should. That sucker punch was wrong but I loved every second of it. Josh Koscheck is a douche of high quality and I hope GSP beats the ever living snot out of him.

Machida.. I'm still shocked. I still haven't processed that whole thing. Shogun is awesome.

Kos v. Daley: Exactly the expected outcome. The only thing I can say, at least for the actual fight itself, is I don't know why Koscheck didn't try harder to finish. He knew he had the extreme advantage. I am going to guess he just wanted to impose his will, show his dominance and walk away cleanly. However, he looked like an absolute bitch for the second fight in a row. The only thing I wonder is how he got scratched on the bridge of his nose? I kept trying to see how it could have happened, and maybe it happened before the illegal knee that wasn't, but I don't know. He isn't going to beat GSP, everything he is good at, GSP is better - GSP is a much better striker. He'll be great on TUF, everyone is going to hate the eve rloving fuck out of him, should be entertaining. As for Daley, I was 100% in his corner before the fight, I wanted him to win badly. I always fall in love with strikers like him, dynamic, explosive, powerful, but its always the same thing, their grappling tends to be terrible. I didn't expect him to be able to stuff Koscheck's TDs, but I was hoping like hell he'd offer him something. It just proves the point, like Rogan states ALL the time, wrestling is absolutely the best base for MMA. I hope he gets taken to the woodshed for that punch, while it was on PPV, unlike the SF debacle, that shit does not need to be happening. The sport is growing by leaps and bounds right now and that shit is completely unnecessary, even if I did kinda want it to happen.

Machida v. Shogun: Not much to say here. Shogun did what, when healthy, Shogun does. Destroy people. Instead of trying to be more patient and not run into Machida, like everyone claims you shouldn't do, he was aggressive and crisp. Machida looking for those TDs was a big clue. He didn't want to stand toe to toe with Shogun, he got beat up in the first fight and he got beat down tonight. Shogun put the exclamation point on it. It was also pretty interesting to see him get up and stop punching Machida, Lyoto was clearly out, but the ref hadn't intervened yet. Its something that gets questioned a lot, unnecessary punches when a guy is out/late stoppages. Shogun is a classy, humble guy, I hope he holds onto the belt for a while. Shogun holding the belt presents A LOT of interesting opportunities. Rampage, Rashad, Jon Jones, A. Silva, Lil Nog are all in the hunt for that belt. I love the LHW division.

I said this before the TUF, which obviously was not a unique opinion, except that I wanted him to fail badly because I felt like he was nothing more then a sideshow. I've come to like the guy and respect him, but hes not an MMA fighter, at least not one that should be competing on the big stage. I wish the guy well, but I hope we don't see anymore of him, in the UFC at least.

Yup. I was rooting extremely hard for him to lose in this fight because I saw right through all the hype. But as soon as one sideshow exits we have a new one entering in James Toney.

EDIT: Oh and forget about GSP/Silva. Let's see Silva/Shogun after they both defend their titles!

Just noticed I typed A. Silver, but yeah. One of the reasons I was hoping Shogun would win the first time was to see Shogun and Silva go at it. I'm praying this is a reality now. That is a dream fight.

Let's see Rampage vs. Shogun first, provided of course Rampage wins in two weeks. Shogun breaking Rampage's ribs in Pride was awesome and sets up a nice little storyline.

White said Daley will never fight for the UFC again. Even if he goes somewhere else and becomes the best P4P fighter in the sport, he'll never come back.

Daley already booked a fight for July in Australia. I really hope he can get passed this and make it with a bigger org.

In a way, it's good for him that Koscheck laid on top of him for 15 minutes, just like it was good for Hardy to get 25 minutes of some GSP grinding. Wrestling or some form of ground game is essential in the UFC and hopefully Team Rough House will start bringing in some Wrestling gurus or they can venture out and train with someone like ATT.

Overeem was just too much for him. Puzzling, because in the Fedor fight he gave Fedor trouble. I'm not sure what it really means and who its says more about. Overeem and Fedor needs to happen ASAP.

Not any time soon....

Fedor pretty much hand chooses his opponents and Overeem tends to avoid fighting in states where they test for steroids.

We'll see the fight in 2014 or something

Anyone know why Tito is backing out in favor of Franklin? Obviously they'll talk about it next week, but I was just seeing if anyone else knew now. I couldn't find anything on MMAjunkie.

Dana & Tito have both kept oddly silent. All Dana has said is he & Tito are still friends and Tito is not fired from the UFC.

My guess is that Tito had an injury before the show started and still went ahead with the show knowing full well he wasn't going to be able to participate in the coaches bout at the end of it. There is a preview of Chuck saying he knew Tito was going to do this and warned Dana about it.

I'm also guessing they kept quiet about it for the sake of the show and to avoid lawsuits.

So what do we think about tomorrow? I have Rampage beating the living snot out of Rashad. 1st round stoppage via ground and pound.

Looking at the kind of training Rashad has been doing on the Primetime shows, I have a feeling he is going to try to become the GSP of the 205 division. Oh and speaking of GSP, he admitted that he fights safe now, so suck it, hunter05. If he can admit it, so can you.

This is the most excited I've been for a fight in a while. I was pretty disappointed when it originally got cancelled. I don't really see how Rashad wins, though. Of Course, I didn't see him winning the light-heavyweight title, either. I'd pick Rampage by knock out in the second round. God, this is going to be awesome.

The fights start at 10, at 9 you get pregame countdown kind of show (prerecorded). It hypes the fights, the fighters give interviews, yadda yadda. Order it whenever, watch the free prelims on Spike - which start at 9 - until 10, and then switch over.

He didn't mean it like you meant it. You're taking it out of context a bit. He also said he felt unfairly criticized for being a dominate wrestler, which is true. The real criticism is, and should be, that he has had difficulty finishing opponents that aren't even close to his skill level. The idea that he should stand and bang with someone like Dan Hardy is laughable. If you're going to criticize GSP for not standing, why not criticize Anderson Silva for not going to the ground against Maia? Go out of your comfort zone, finish the fight, yadda bullshit yadda bullshit yadda

BTW, its difficult for me to believe that Rashad doesn't win this fight. Rampage hasn't fought in a while and there is no way I believe he is going to be in shape enough to last. If this fight goes past the first round, Rashad is winning.

Meh. He is just not going to jump into people's guards but if he is taken down he can do some serious damage on the ground. Anderson submitted Lutter and Hendo, that's saying something. There is a difference between both of these guys refusing to stand or hitting the ground. One of them does it out of necessity and the other does it because he feels like it.

Yep. A supreme athlete who throws a one-hitter each time out. Evans stopped Rampage from doing anything he wanted to do, and landed a few good strikes himself. Rampage said it himself, he put all his eggs in one basket, and couldn't get through.

Also, where can I get a Mike Russow shirt?
