So watching the first 2 rounds of the Falcao fight i'm thinking to myself "damn, this guy is looking like an early Anderson Silva!". Then in the 3rd i found myself thinking "bleh, it is Anderson Silva".

Score a big one for the 2 judges on getting the Rampage/Machida decision right. Pro-tip Machida: if you are going to do absolutely nothing outside sitting back to wait for the wide open counter, you did and *should* be penalized for inactivity. An exciting 30 seconds isn't worth putting on a snoozefest the rest of your fight. Especially when, you know, you don't even have the belt anymore.

Hughes =(

Missed the rest and hope to catch them in the morning.

George Sotiropoulos is a beast. He will compete for the 155lb belt soon.

I have yet to see the rest of the card but it sounds like Machida put on one of his snoozefests.

Oh, and BJ vs Fitch is being reported. My fucking god. I love this matchup.

Phil Davis. Wow!

Just to illustrate how strong he is. The kimura is generally regarded as a "strongman" move, that's why top level jiujitsu guys like Marcelo Garcia doesn't even incorporate it because he feels like he isn't strong enough to pull it off. Well, Davis landed it with one arm. That's crazy. He is a Lloyd Irvin bluebelt.

I'm not suprised at TUF finals. I did think that Phan would edge out Johnson.Johnson suprised me with his stand up but he seems to gas out quickly.

I was surfing the Bellator Fighting Championships website today and noticed Jhonathan Brookins is listed on their Roster page. I also
have seen him fight in the WEC.

Is there any doubt Brookins dominates Johnson in the finals? Brookins is a future star, and it's refreshing to see a person with his combination (as Dana said) of work ethic, talent, potential and humility. His days of fighting in Bellator and G-Force are over with. The matchup between Phan and Johnson was a good fight and tough to call, but I was expecting Phan to get his hand raised as well.

It has also been amazing to see KOS getting rocked in all aspects of the competition. It was great to see him getting mocked by his student. It will be even better when he gets dominated by GSP.

Also, Strikeforce has some bigger names fighting this weekend than the UFC. A couple over-the-hill fighters, but it should still be a good card.

Henderson and Babalu. Paul Daley and Scott Smith. Robbie Lawler and Matt Lindland. Mike Kyle and Antonio Silva. I might want to watch that over the UFC card.

Yea, given the optin, I'd watch the SF card over a TUF finale.

And I agree with you, kelpapa, Brookins is going to handle Johnson. I have Brookins via triangle or RNC. Johnson is billed as a wrestler and he isn't even impressive at that. He exerts all his energy in the first 3 minutes of a fight and then just fights surviving and scoring points.

In sort of a stunning outcome, Chael Sonnen's suspension has been shortened from 1 year to 6 months. Having already served 3 months, Sonnen will return in March.

Was anyone else completely and utterly stunned by Koscheck calling both GSP and Johnson lay and pray artists? What alternative universe does Josh Koscheck exist in? Did Josh completely wipe his smothering of Chris Leben on that show from his memory banks?

I sooooo want GSP to open a can on him and from the way GSP was talking, he seems to want to make a statement out of Koscheck.

BTW I too like Brookins alot and think he should be able to submit Johnson. I think Johnson has potential but is still very raw and got by on basic wrestling and athleticism. Springfield Fight Club had best instilled some serious sub defense and plenty of cardio in Johnson if he hopes to hang with Brookins.

The thing is Josh's stand up is pretty dangerous and it's amazing to see him now as to when he was on TUF 1. The man may be a douche but he has incredible athletic ability. If GSP stands with him, which of course he won't and why should he, I have to go with Koscheck.

You really think koscheck has superior striking in comparison to GSP? He has an edge in power, but his technique and skill are nothing special. I think people have forgotten how good of a striker GSP is because of his wrestling. I think we're going to see more striking from GSP then we've seen in a while, Koscheck isn't going down easy and GSP is going to have worker harder for those TDs. That said, if GSP loses this fight I'm taking a break from MMA. I've never disliked an athlete as much as Koscheck.

I'm really looking forward to Nam(masterbater)Phan against Leonard Garcia tonight. A really tough fight for Phan right off the bat against a highly experienced fighter. Phan has probably been training with Kos at American Top Team. I do think he'll have a good future in fighting.

I also expect that Brookins will win fairly easily tonight against Johnson. I hope I'm wrong and we see a great 2.5 to 3 round back and forth fight.

Yea, I think the power in the standup is more than an edge, it is by far in Koshcheck's favor. But I agree that GSP has the technique. His technique is superior to everyone elses which is what makes him one of the best ever.

Kosh winning that belt would be one of the worst things ever for MMA.

The KO of Smith was one of the most violent one's in recent memory. His legs were stiff and in the air for what seemed like forever.

Surprised there wasn't any talk about the TUF finale. Brookins got dominated in the first round, showing major flaws in his standup. It was impressive that he came back to win the final two rounds and the contract. Johnson probably has a future in the UFC. Phan got Shogunned in his decision loss to Leonard Garcia, but Dana gave him the win bonus, and the fight earned fight of the night honors. Maia beat Grove unanimously.

Garcia fought like a bar room brawler against Phan. I would have been much more respect for Phan if he went for the kill at anytime in the Third round. He obviously got hosed by the judges . He out classed Garcia in every aspect but layed back a little too much . Brookins showed some holes in his stand up but will get the best training available now. Same goes for Johnson, He's a young pup that will/should improve tenfold.

I really like Cody Mckenzie. He has that Forrest Griffin mentality and charisma(doubt he has the same chin though) along with some scary Guillotine chokes. Everytime he catches someone in it they go nighty night very fast. He'll improve and Dana will find a place for him in the UFC.

As far as Brit Talent Aaron Wilkinson impresses me and looks to have a good future. I wouldn't be suprised to see him in the top ten for a chance at the belt some day. Great stand up and good chin. Needs any kind of ground game badly. Wilkinson is a great kid that I'd love to see go far.

After seeing the Finale I was impressed with both fighters. Brookins has a hell of a chin. He needs to get into a striking camp pronto however. Sam Stout would have TKO'd him in minutes if they squared off Saturday night. If he can get that squared away he can be a legitimate threat in 155. I see Brookins having a career path much like George Sotiropoulos after his tour on TUF. Soild on the ground with suspect stand up and he's 8 years younger.

Johnson looked really improved on his feet and his Cardio was better, but still not what it needed to be. He's still raw but you can see how quickly he improved from the last episode of the show.

Neither of these guys look like a Tommy Speer or Brad Imes.

Sotiropoulos had boxing experience, and even won an amateur title. While the adjustment to striking in an MMA fight may have taken some time, the groundwork was there and its apparent when you watch him fight now. Brookins doesn't have that kind of background and I don't think he is ever going to have any kind of worthwhile stand up, the best you can hope for is he learns to protect his chin and doesn't rely on blocking punches with his face. I like Brookins, I'm glad he won the TUF, but I don't see any kind of real future for him. The 155 and 145 divisions are stacked right now. Brookins will finish lesser opponents when he is able to get them on the ground, but its not going to work against top tier opponents. I think Johnson has a better future if he can fix his cardio issues.

Following GSP for the last few months and leading up to his fight with Koscheck I've come to one conclusion. GSP is the closest person in the world to being the Perfect Fighter. He loves the life of being a modern day Gladiator. His whole life is mixed martial arts and learning all aspects pefectly. Were lucky to be seeing him in his prime.

I hope he tears Josh Koscheck apart Saturday. Not just because I dislike Koscheck, I just love watching Georges St-Pierre turning a fight into a piece of Art.

Granted George had boxing experience. Like I said, Brookins is 8 years younger and is obviously much more athleticly inclined than George. Plus the kids a sponge. As much as I hate him, look at how much progress Koscheck made in striking from his TUF days. He looked hopeless on his feet. I think Brokins can learn in the same way and isn't a nearly the egotistical meathead Koscheck is. I think if you give Brookins the same long build up that George got and he gets into good camps, he'll have much improved skills on his feet.

As a life long B's fan it is going to be very odd rooting for a French Canadian in the Belle Center but I will be gladly Ole Ole Oleing from my couch as GSP hopefully turns Kos into blood sausage.

Alves looked great.

GSP Koscheck squareoff was intense. Both fighters were filled with adrenaline and couldn't stand still. You could read, "I'm going to knock you out" from both fighters. I can't wait.

I'm a firm believer that this will by far be GSP's toughest fight. It will be great to see Koschecks improvements against the Evolution of GSP.

Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva To Coach The Ultimate Fighter Season 13?
MMa bleacher report says so. I guess they got into an arguement about Sonnen disrespecting Brazil. Dana knows Sonnen will be seen as a villian(Kos) and Silva the Good guy(GSP). Supposeably Sonnen can still coach TUF even though he's suspended.

There is a video of Wanderlai and Sonnen riding in a van and Waderlai let's him know that it is okay to hype up a fight but to disrespect guys like the Nogueira's isn't acceptable. Brazilians take things person or whatever.

That would be a great, hard-nosed season.

"If you have respect, you don't lose your teeth"
Wanderlei looks pretty pissed.

Edit:
Here is a link to Dana's two latest video blogs. The final 2 minutes or so of the second video is the weigh-in of Kos and GSP.

It wasn't just the Nogueria comment. He made a remark about Anderson Silva bowing, and said that Brazilian's aren't known for it and its not a "bowing culture." He also made some remark about them being devil worshippers or something like that. He said some stupid things, which is going to happen considering how often he talks. I think he is funny, for the most part, just because he is so over the top. However, I would never want to piss off Wanderlei Silva, or any of those former or current Chute Box fighters.

I've also heard him say that BJJ is a gay martial art. He said the last thing he wants to do is open his legs for another man while training off his back every day. This struck me as funny coming from a wrestler.

I actually think Sonnen and Silva will be a boring fight. Sonnen will lay and pray for 3 rounds for a decision. His wrestling is too good for Wandy. I'd love to see Wandy catch him with a solid punch on the way in to end it though.

What is sad about Sonnen's idiotic comment about jiujitsu is that it probably would have netted him two championship belts, the WEC and the UFC MW, which he lost via armbar and triangle respectively that everyone saw coming.

Yup. I was fucking shocked that Miller got that leglock.

But just goes to show you that basic, high level jiujitsu always beats flashy, mid-level jj. Miller is a blackbelt and Charles is still a purple, with good reason.

I think were going to start to see more fighters utilizing the jab now. The leather was in Koschecks face for every minute of the five rounds. Very nice to watch. Koscheck looked suprisingly way over matched standing up. His take down defense was an improvement since they're first fight. I'll give him credit, for a guy fighting with one eye for 4 rounds he did his best to survive.
