Kid Yamamoto from DREAM has signed on with UFC, he'll be fighting at his natural weight class of Bantamweight (he was a Lightweight in DREAM)

He'll be fighting Demetrious Johnson on the main card of UFC 126 on Super Bowl weekend which is shaping up to be a huge fight card with Silva/Belfort, Griffin/Franklin, Jones/Bader, Torres/Banuelos and now Kid Yamamoto in action.

I would love to see Lesnars comeback fight to be against Struve. Struve impressed the hell out of me last night. He's starting to add some muscle and weight to go with his 6'11 frame. He's got a solid stand up, good BJJ and is tough as hell. Even if Lesnar takes Struve down it's a dangerous spot For Lesnar. Struve deserves a big money/big name fight.

Here ya go, buddy,

And you'll remember Jon Fitch.

AKA might have the HW champ in Cain but GSP owns their top 170lbers.

I don't know what else can be said about GSP at this point. He has faced a murder's row of competition and dispatched all of them. He hasn't lost a round since losing to Serra. He has out struck everyone he has faced. There is nothing he can't do and there is no one that is going to stop him. Getting to watch an athlete of his caliber in his prime is truly special. I wish MMA were a bigger sport so it could be appreciated on the level it should be. I'll have to settle for watching him destroy everyone that dares to step foot in front of him. I'm excited to see what is next. I'd love to see him beat up Shields or wipe the floor with Fitch again.

Shields vs GSP would be a lot better if Shields had an attacking guard. He is a Ceaser Gracie Black Belt and has "developed" his own jj which he calls American Jiu Jitsu, it's not really a new system it's just wrestling mixed in with jiu jitsu sorta like Dave Camarillo's Gorilla Jiu Jitsu which mixes in jiu jitsu and judo throws. But anyway, his style of jj is heavily dependent on having dominate position, being on top, and there is no way he takes down GSP and holds him down successfully.

I'd much rather see Fitch get another shot but pray that they don't try to do GSP/BJ III.

I said as soon as the merger was announced that Faber was going to be on the TUF at some point.

While I don't have any interest in watching Mir and Brock fight again, they'd be pretty entertaining as coaches. However, Brock being the recluse that he is I'd be surprised if he agreed to this.

What I want is Silva and Sonnen. The show, the build up, the war of words, etc. would be perfect.

I totally agree. It would make for a great seoson with the dislike Mir and Lesnar have for one another. I can't see lesnar leaving his comfort zone in Minnesota to participate.
Lesnar vs. Nelson, struve or even Big Nog would be a better matchup in the cage at this point.

While I agree that Mir/ Lesnar would be a fun hate-fest to watch, I really don't want to see Brock coaching. Plus, Mir/Schaub has already been announced, right?

I'd probably want to see Torres/Faber, and it would be a good move to hype the new weight classes entering the UFC. From what I've read, this doesn't appear to be an option, though.

How stacked are the cards, now? Plus, you add two weight classes with at least one superstar (two if you include Faber) and the WEC. It's a good time to be a fan of MMA.

I would love to see Shonnen and Silva as coaches just to see if Wandy brings the old Chutte Boxe mentality to TUF. Based on all the old stories, Shonnen's team might never need to step in the cage for the prelims.

I'd like to see Brock and Mir for pure entertainment reasons but i forsee a lousy season. It's got the makings of Tito vs. Shamrock. I think Mir was a pretty competent coach during his season. I think Brock is just a big, athletic freak who's a meat head like Ken and would probably be a lousy coach.

Ultimately, give me Faber and Torres.

Thank God. What he's been able to do in his mid-40's has been amazing, but fighting at 47 years old is insane.

He might not be retired, just yet.

He allegedly sent a text saying if he couldn't fight Lyoto or Shogun, he'd retire. It basically means he's going to retire, though; how could Couture fight either of those guys after beating Vera, Coleman, and Toney? I love the guy, but his fights are boring, grind-it-out performances. I doubt the UFC wants a fight with Lyoto and Couture, which could be a total snoozefest. The worst part about it: he could potentially out-wrestle Lyoto, setting up a title shot with Shogun where he gets dropped in the first round.

Edit: Another link, which talks about his upcoming projects in film. Seems like he's leveraging his film career to try to get a title shot.

WEC 53 weigh-ins are tonight, live on MMAJunkie and Sherdog. The final WEC fight takes place at 9 p.m. ET tomorrow night in (Edit) Arizona. It's being showed on Versus. Here's the card via MMAJunkie

MAIN CARD
  • Champ Benson Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis (for lightweight title)
  • Champ Dominick Cruz vs. Scott Jorgensen (for bantamweight title)
  • Donald Cerrone vs. Chris Horodecki
PRELIMINARY CARD
  • Bart Palaszewski vs. Kamal Shalorus
  • Danny Downes vs. Tiequan Zhang
  • Shane Roller vs. Jamie Varner
  • Ivan Menjivar vs. Brad Pickett
  • Ken Stone vs. Eddie Wineland
  • Danny Castillo vs. Will Kerr
  • Yuri Alcantara vs. Ricardo Lamas
  • Renan Barao vs. Chris Cariaso
Ben Henderson will be an great addition to the lightweight division in the UFC. He's been ranked by Sherdog before, but it looks like he just dropped outside of the top ten in the lightweight division recently. The winner of that fight gets an immediate title shot at the winner between Gray and Edgar. Dominick Cruz is the number-one-ranked-bantamweight fighter in the world by Sherdog. Cerrone and Varner are also good lightweights that have fought for (Cerrone) or held (Varner) the WEC title. Palaszewski has about a million fights under his belt and has beaten guys like Kyle Watson, Chris Horodecki, Anthony Pettis, and Alex Karalexis in his career. He also lost a split decision to Jim Miller.

Here's a pretty cool article from Sherdog about the WEC.

Anthony Pettis is a beast but he'll get smashed by, who I believe will be the LW champion by the time the dust settles, Gray Maynard.

Sooo, we all had it wrong.

According to this, Sonnen and Silva are out, Mir and Brock are out, and Faber and Torres are out. The fighters that are in will be announced tomorrow in a press conference. though. Any other guesses?

Looks like Cruz just did the same thing to Faber. That will be a great fight. It will be my first time rooting for Faber. I can't help it, I hate The way Cruz fights, I get extremely frustrated watching him . The wrestler in me wants to call him a fish but the Dude has great cardio and knows how to win.

I'm at work. Twitter is blowing up about that kick. I cannot wait to see that entire fight tomorrow. I really wish I had seen it live, though without knowing it was coming.

@arielhelwani Ariel Helwani Crazy thing is Pettis and Barry say they practice that kick all the time. I'm still in shock. I don't even remember doing the post show

Kelpapa, that's what made it so great. Bonner went fucking nuts when that thing landed. Holy shit.

Pettis said he and Duke Rufus practice that shit all the time and that he has about 10 more different kicks just like that.

With that said, he needs to go back to Milwaukee and work like hell with bigger guys like Pat Barry, Ben Askren, and Alan Belcher on his take down defense.

The single most spectacular KO/TKO in MMA history.

It was on TV and it was for two titles. Unreal.

Ben Henderson has every right to be grouchy. He knows he's on the wrong end of every MMA highlight reel for the rest of his life. He's Glenn Hall to AP's Bobby Orr.

Edit: Dumb ass. Not a TKO/KO. Serves me right for missing it. Just eeing the highlights I assumed Henedson was done after that.

(A note if I could? Pettis is a 23-year-old pro athlete and owns three businesses. What are you doing right now?)

Pettis-
"I play video games, and I like Call of Duty. I play a lot when I'm in training camp. When I'm not in camp, I run two martial arts gyms so I focus on running those, and I recently opened up a sports bar.

I'm a pretty busy guy inside and outside the cage, man. I also like to spend time with my family. I don't get to see them as much, so as much time as I can spend with them, I try to.

Owning a business is probably harder than being a mixed martial artist. It's a lot of work."

Edit- to add Quotes

Hermes Franca allegedly was shafted the other day. According to this, all three judges had him unanimously defeating Ferridd Kheder; however when the scores were being announced, there was confusion and a delay. The announcer stopped and spoke to some other people. The referee raised Franca's hand, but the announcer then calls for Kheder to get the victory. According to this guy's story, he spoke with all three judges, and they claimed they had Franca winning.

Here is a list of WEC fighters making their UFC debut. Faber is not on the list, which as the article notes, gives legs to the Faber/Cruz TUF rumor. Aldo is also not on the list.

It's funny when Tito thinks you're a dick. link
Why is Kos talking about Tito in the first place? I don't get it. Kos just got pounded by GSP. If Kos never wins a title he'll be an MMA footnote. You can say all you want about Tito now, but for a few years Tito was MMA. I used to see him on The Best Damn Sports Show. Pre-Griffin/Bonner That stuff just didn't happen.

Kos needs to realize that talking smack about Tito and asking to fight him now is weak sauce. Almost everyone believes Tito's best days are behind him. Kos beating him now proves nothing but I'm sure he would beat his chest about it. And if he lost to an obviously past his prime Ortiz, Kos would make up some excuse about Tito's size advantage.

How hated do you have to be to make Ortiz seem like a sympathetic figure, not to mention the level headed one, in a conflict.

If Kos wanted to get some people interested he'd fight Leben again.

Strikeforce has found an opponent for Diaz, their welterweight champion. Diaz will meet Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in San Jose. I think this is going to be a great fight. "Cyborg" has a great stand up along with BJJ. Diaz being the warrior that he is will fight to whatever Cyborgs strengths are. I would have liked to have seen Diaz vs. Mayhem Miller but I'm having a hard time believing it will ever happen.

Cyborg. Too many damn Cyborgs!

There is BJJ God Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, and of course, his wife Cristiane 'Cyborg" Santos.

Anyways, I have Nick in that fight. He belongs in the UFC already!

For what ever the reason, it's a shame that Nick won't be back in the UFC anytime soon. I would watch Nick fight anyone because he's always exciting. But there are at least 5 fights at Welterweight that would be at least be co-main events with him in the UFC.

I was kind of hoping he was going to announce the TUF coaches. Cruz/Faber is not a possibility, as Faber is now scheduled to take on Eddie Wineland at UFC 128.

I wonder how much Diaz got from Strikeforce. He is much more valuable to Strikeforce, than he is to UFC, so I wonder if they could come close to what the UFC would offer. He has a huge following, and he's very exciting, which is exactly what they need. I still can't imagine they would be able to outbid the UFC. My guess is Dana just doesn't want to deal with him.

Also, Cain will be out for the next six to eight months with a right shoulder injury he suffered during training. Link

UFC 125 is is stacked, on the low though.

Thiago Silva vs Brandon Vera - both are hungry, both need a win, both like to stand up and trade
Gomi vs Clay Guida - we find out how much of a jaw Clay really has
Nate Diaz vs Stun Gun - both of these dudes are grappling wizards so it might stay standing up.. still don't be surprised if Diaz scores a sub off his back
Chris Leben vs Brian Stann - WAR Leben.. it's going to stay standing up until Stann lands the takedown and starts working his GnP.. hopefully Leben can overcome that
Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard is interesting as fuck. Sure, Gray can and will probably take Frankie down at will but he has to catch him first. Frankie always improves and you have to imagine his footwork has gotten that much better since he beat BJ a few months ago.

Not a lot of hype because the big names aren't fighting and there is no main event bad blood between the two fighters but this is going to be a great great great card.

Dude... How could you leave out Phil big poppa pump Baroni?

Seriously, though, I'm excited to see a lot of fights including the NY Badass and Tavares; Greg Soto's last fight was impressive; I want to see little heathen vs. Marcus Davis if only to see if the welt on Davis' head has healed; Michael Brown and Josh Grispi are awesome fighters as well.

I think the cards have been getting deeper and deeper. I wonder if it's because the fighter's are more well known thru to TUF, MMA has gotten a lot bigger thus attracting more talented athletes, or if I've just been paying a lot more attention lately. The infusion of talent from the WEC only makes it better.

Did anybody see Dynamite this morning? I was planning on it until I found out when it was going to be on. Shinya Aoki was knocked out by Yuichiro Nagashima. Alistair Overeem won the Dream heavyweight title in less than 20 seconds over Todd Duffee. Other notable fighters: Caol Uno lost to Kazuyuki Miyata; Gegard Mousasi won unanimously; and a lot of other people fought.
