I wouldn't have been upset by offsetting PFs, but that was a long way away from an egregious hit to the head on a sliding QB. The game where Newton took all those shots and then complained afterwards, he had 2-3 absolutely legitimate gripes where he got smacked late without consequence. This one wasn't in the same area code as those.

aaaaaaand TD Redskins. Maybe we have a game after all.

Keep your adjectives out of this:cool:...."blowing up up" isn't necessary; "egregious" isn't necessary. It was "a hit to his head" and "he was sliding." 15 yards; do not pass go. Except Newton. Too many real 'mericans bothered by his end zone jive.

What attempt would have pleased you? The tackler was already lunging into his tackle when Newton made the decision to start sliding. The tackler went low, and it was a glancing blow to the helmet - his head basically didn't move even in slow-mo. If you want to call that a PF, you need to tell me what the tackler should have done differently up until the moment Newton decided to slide, and/or once he was airborne.
Not lowered his head/shoulder into him? Live full speed my reaction was easy PF, so was McDonough's and Gruden. That is called a PF 99 out of 100 times.

Cam and Gronk rules. They are obviously treated differently. Gronk, I'm biased. Cam? I don't give a crap. But he's treated differently. Is it just that he complains about it? Because it's patently unfair.

Still think Washington wins this, but These guys are going to be doomed to medocrity alongside their geographical cousins when they have to pay their mediocre qb a gazillion dollars this offseason.

That shortchanges Ozzie Newsome quite a bit. If anything, it's the Texans who will be closest to them in cap hell.

And there but for the grace of Gisele Bundchen go we. If Tom Brady at any point had said "I want Flacco money", he'd have it.

Someone please get Jordan Reed off the field before he dies out there.

Never mind, took care of it himself.

That was helmet to helmet on a defenseless receiver. Uncalled. It's not just Cam. These officials are very inconsistent.

He's got a busted wing and his concussed brain is out there transporting him from the football field to the boxing ring.

These players must take some kind of speed that along with playing a physical game makes them lose it. Remember when Bart Scott picked up the flag and threw it out the back of the end zone? I'm supposed to believe he was sober?

Seems like maybe he thought it was better than quitting on his stool. Better for him. Not his team. But he went out like a freaking man!

The NFL needs to start calling those hits on Cam. This is ridiculous. They care about an overrated shithead like Drew Brees but obviously have it out for Cam Newton.

What'd Drew Brees do to you? Guy is far from a shithead.

Challenges should be like in tennis: You win it, you keep it. You get two for the game.

Also, I hate those types of late-hit calls. The guy's running down the sideline, you have to stop him from, you know, getting a touchdown. If he's not already out of bounds - like, has landed a foot out of bounds - then when you hit him, it shouldn't be a flag. Particularly if you just push him out of bounds rather than put your weight into him for a big hit. If someone's running the football, the defenders have a job to do.

GJGE, Redskins. I hope this helps GB get into the playoffs. Need more potential obstacles for the Giants.

Not going to matter, but that was a brutal timeout with 2:29 to go by Washington. Carolina would have had to snap 1st Down before the 2 minute warning and you could use your 2 timeouts after the 2 minute warning. Now you are looking at 4th down being snapped with 1:15 instead of 1:45 to 1:50.

He's not even overrated
He has a career W/L of 130-100 or a 0.565 winning percentage. Alex Smith, Andy Dalton, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo and Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Big Ben, Russell Wilson are just some QBs who have a better percentage. Great fantasy football player. Not a winning QB.

Super Bowl winning QB with a winning record isn't a winning QB. That's some A level analysis. He managed to not win his way up to the top of most all-time QB records, too. This is some of the worst analysis I've seen on this site, or did I click on a Yahoo sports article's comments by mistake.

what's your definition of a "winning" QB? Record above .500? SB title? Leading the league in yards 7 times? top 2 among active players in AV?

No one's saying he's Brady or Rodgers, but "overrated shithead" is pretty harsh for a guy with his resume.

Who's also done a ton for his community and from everything I've ever heard is a really good teammate and genuinely decent human being.

Awesome. Beautiful counterpoint champ.

So the 0.565 winning percentage doesn't mean anything. Lets focus on the one arbitrary season where he managed to finally make his lone Superbowl appearance and won due to a defense pick-6. I never said he sucked. He's overrated. He's 62-59 outside of his comfy dome.

He's 4th on all time loses by a QB and he has a realistic chance of being #1 by the time he retires. But hey, he won one Superbowl.

All time stats are fun. Where's he rank in terms of TDs and yards? I agree though, he's a terrible defensive back for a QB and his teams give up way too many points. Totally on him.

Two numbers: 26.5 and 6. The first is the average defensive DVOA ranking for the Saints over the last six years. The second is the average offensive DVOA ranking for the Saints over the last six years. The guy can't play defense, and when your defense is among the very worst in the league year in and year out, it's hard to do much better than .500.

He isn't Brady or Manning or Rodgers, but he's as good or better than just about anyone else over the last dozen years.

If he plays long enough to be #1 in losses, he'll have also played long enough to be first overall in TD passes, total completions and total yards.

What's your point here, exactly? What makes a "winning" QB?

Peyton Manning last year was a winning QB. Drew Brees wasn't. It's simple.

QB winning percentage is on a par with pitching winning percentage in terms of usefulness. And even though you're using it in a foolish attempt to justify calling him overrated, you still haven't explained why, in your words, he's a shithead

This is what it feels like to have to defend Tony Romo to dumbshit Cowboys fans. Feel my pain.

The "Tony Romo Gets a Bad Rap Fan Club", population: us.
My nephew gave me his hot take on the situation on Saturday: He said Romo is garbage. I then proceeded to rip him a new one for the next 30 minutes. I died a little inside that day.

At least Romo was a jerk to national sweetheart Carrie Underwood. I'm still trying to find out what fly Drew Brees ever swatted.
