That's one area that I think is affecting this team more than people realize. They have been historically good at the dot under Julien and this year they are below average. It's not surprising their PK and GA/G are worse this year with their faceoff numbers being so poor.

Their system is exciting when the opponent isn't getting a great chance but it's tough to win giving up 5 a game.

Rask has had some tough games but @7m, they need more. He started slowly last year too. They need him at .920+

It's going to be a bumpy ride along the blue line for a while. Just have to hope they get better game by game, month by month.

Yeah, he's been a little rough, but when this team can't win faceoffs and gives the puck away on the rare occasion they do win one, this is going to happen. Great goalies still have bad GAAs and save percentages when their skaters set up an opponent better than his teammates could.

That's the other half of the problem. Vintage Julien Bruins teams were much more disciplined with the puck. Tonight, they had 11 takeaways, but 13 giveaways. For better or for worse, they created just about all of both teams' chances.

4 on 3 for two minutes is fucking bullshit. It pretty much guarantees a win - that's too much ice to cover for 3 guys. If they're going to stick with 3 on 3, that needs to be addressed.
it's been like this for years. Even when OT was 4 on 4 if a penalty was called it was still 4 on 3 for 2 minutes.

Right, but not after its already been 3 on 3 and guys are gassed. You can't have 4 on 3 for half of the period. It's a disproportional penalty and I've always thought so.

It was a hit on a guy who engaged with another player who wasn't looking. Not the dirtiest play he's ever made, but not something a real player would be proud of.

Gotta get rid of shithead before he hurts someone else.

He muffed a floater and was barely in the net his angle was so bad on another.  He was shit tonight, turnovers and shitty line changes notwithstanding.

The good news is that it's all fixable.

He hit him in the chest.  Rinaldo sucks, he's a douchebag, and he's filthy.

I hate everything about Zac Rinaldo.  It was one of the worst signings I've ever seen, and I wish the guy was mowing lawns somewhere.

That doesn't change the fact that it maybe should have been a minor for charging.

How many times did we see Lucic make that sort of hit over the past few years and not get this kind of response?

Minus two of the top ten offensive forwards in the league, of course.  The defense can't be quite this bad over the course of 82 games, but neither can the offense be this good.  Krejci has produced more than a full PPG more than his career average to this point.

I'm down for the ride, but it's going to be a long season.

I don't really care for any coach public ally psychoanalyst get his players, but God knows Pasta hasn't done much to immunize himself from that criticism. I wonder how much more rope he gets before a trip to Providence is in order.

Exactly. The penalty was 100% about the name on the back of the jersey. Embarrassing.

You know what? I'm okay with him not getting the benefit of the doubt. He's made his bed. This is what happens when you choose to sign trade for shitheads.
I'll also fully admit I'm not rational about him.

Pastrnak drew Claude's ire last night (rightfully so), but Spooner's been pretty awful too. Early season, SSS and all that but Spooner's off to a pretty horrific start. 31.9% CF at even strength. Puts him at 476 out of 479 skaters in the league with 50 minutes of even strength TOI. He's also only 39.1% at the dot (lost draw last night set up his penalty and GWG). Basically a huge liability and no more than a PP specialist right now.

Lots of problems to sort out here. It's not all the 6 defenseman.

I believe in second chances and he's at least said the right things and appears to be trying to turn a corner. I also contend that he's been a pretty decent player so far and has shown some flashes of ability (was involved in a couple of scoring chances last night).

This isn't the hit that is going to get me fired up. So far, I think he's been better than advertised and has been on the up and up. Until he proves otherwise, I'll continue to root for him to wipe himself of the dirty guys stench and contribute to this team.

Sounds like he is not going to get suspended. DoPS cant decide if they will even have a hearing. They usually move quickly.

If (the collective) we are going to complain about that hit, then we might as well start complaining about every hit where a guy is carrying the puck with his head down. At that point, we might as well start watching women's hockey because what's the point of allowing checking?

The first thing we're taught in pee wee's is to keep your head up when carrying the puck. If you get popped, that's on you, not the guy trying to shake you from the puck.

He hit him a bit late so it was probably an interference.  Not dirty IMO but, again, fuck Rinaldo.

Between here and everywhere.
I don't think Rinaldo should be suspended, and he shouldn't have gotten a match penalty.

But fuck Rinaldo, and I HOPE he's suspended for forever.

I think he should be suspended indefinitely. That way other people that don't suck and aren't colossal ass hole dickface douchebags can play.

The hit itself wasn't awful. Rinaldo still is though.

Lots? Sure there were lots of "YAH DOOD, LOOCH!" apologists but I know a good number of posters here criticized his often boneheaded play, his overpriced contract, and weren't too sad to see him traded. There were those who felt some of Lucic's borderline hits over the years that resulted in penalties were a function of the name on the back of HIS jersey as well.

I agree that Rinaldo's hit last night doesn't merit a suspension. Even a match penalty was pushing it but I understand why the on-ice officials gave him one. That is absolutely the risk you take on when you acquire a player with his history.

It was a reputation penalty, and his reputation is well deserved. Sucks that it hurts the Bruins (well, actually it helped) but that's what they get for acquiring a player with his history and reputation. Part of the package that is Rinaldo.

It's easier to live with Looch doing that stuff since he at least put the puck in the net with regularity and contributed in other areas. Rinaldo has 8 career goals in 229 games. He doesn't contribute on either special teams and provides zero value in any area of the game. Why they deemed he was worthy of a 3rd round pick is beyond me. He'll draw a penalty from time to time but in others his dumbassery will leave us shorthanded. I can't see the positives to having him in the lineup. These guys are dime a dozen.

Edit: Lavoie back tracks. League hasn't made a decision yet.

Officially no suspension now.  The video explanation makes a case for it not being a penalty at all.  Not considered charging, interference, or illegal check to the head.

That was amusing.

"It is not charging. It is not interference. It is not a head shot. In fact he took an excellent angle in to the hit, tucked his shoulder and didn't leave his feet. But we support the 5 and a game he got."
