I'm completely jaded from growing up on the internet that pretty much anything said doesn't phase me anymore. Back when multiplayer gaming started to get big (and before any good-manners controls) it wasn't uncommon to have a string of racial/sexual epithets, body parts, and other slurs yelled at me by some anonymous sore loser who was hoping one of them would hit. I see any of those things and just tune it out, because that's all it is: senseless noise that I can get nothing from by listening. That being said, since I pretty much hit every check box on the "not getting discriminated against" list other than being an agnostic, I really haven't encountered anything like that, and none of them have the emotional background it would to someone like my wife (black, female, grew up really poor).
That being said, I don't think I've ever come across any of that here. Given that like 1/20 words in a gamethread is fuck or shit or some derivation thereof, I don't think anyone should expect to come here and be filthy-language free. If someone went on a huge rant against someone personally, used slurs to do so, and was really actually trying to hurt them, then I'd totally be ok with a temporary/permanent ban from the gamethreads. That being said, occasionally calling someone a twat does not mean that you hate women or wish ill of them. Its a British colloquialism too.
Basically, just don't be a dick.
