Stevens on with T & R right now:
TL was in a lot of pain when it happened
It was a very small tear, more like a "flap"
Had multiple docs look to confirm
Surgery went well
Brad's office overlooks practice court and TL is in the building walking well today

I was back marathon training within four weeks of this exact same injury and procedure. This bodes really well for Williams.

Pretty important if that means he can maintain some cardio. I'll defer to the experts here, however.
No expert but I’d assume these timetables are basic on an ordinary person/weekend athlete……and not a young (that part is very important), professional athlete who has access to the best rehab trainers, equipment and supplements along with the rehab being his full-time job right now.

Just need to be sure that we're still playing in 4 weeks.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back prior to 4 weeks either.

So TL can not only slow time but speed it up as well?
Of course. He is the Timelord after all. I am sure he will be back as quickly as he can. As long as he can do it without overstretching the fabric of time and space, tearing a hole in the space-time continuum and unleashing the eldritch horrors underneath.

In the meantime maybe Theis should slide into a starting role and keep Grant with that 2nd unit? or are fouls too large of a concern?

Grant's 3pt shooting probably plays better off the bench. I like when they have Grant/PP/Tatum/White + 5 unit to start Q2

IME has done a really impressive job on balancing rotations

One data point, but I was able to ride a bike around town 48 hours after a similar procedure. I would imagine Rob's already on the trainer getting the range of motion going, and will be able to ride hard enough to get some cardio in within the week.

He’ll be able to do low-impact cardio almost immediately but I still wouldn’t expect him back to full game duty before four weeks.

Looks like Lonzo Ball is about to be shut down for the season after experiencing a setback after his “slight” meniscus tear. Hopefully TL’s recovery is nothing like Lonzo’s.

These reports all sound great, but the main negative on Rob since he turned pro has been his inability to stay on the court for health reasons. I'll believe he's on track to come back early when it actually happens.

Back to everyday activities in a week! Great, every day activities for Rob Williams is being a dominating NBA player :)

In Karalis's podcast today he said he has a feeling that TL is back in round 1. Said that's not based on any "reporting" just what he thnks.

Ime definitely has sounded exceedingly optimistic in his comments.

Taking 2 games without him is such a big deal, particularly with how hard a matchup the Nets have been for Theis. I'd bet at this point that we see him in Game 4, unless the Cs take a 3-0 lead.

This was Rob on Saturday, which would have been about 2.5 weeks after surgery. He'll be at 3 weeks post op tomorrow. Not much to see here except that he doesn't appear hobbled, and has a little bounce in his step...

To me it looks like he’s favoring his knee.. not sure how restrictive the brace is, but looks like when he’s going sideways he’s trying not to put too much weight on it. He’s still a week out at least according to the four week time table, right? No reason to rush it..

I don't think we'll see him play against the Nets unless the series gets tied. Why force if if the team doesn't need him?

I had thought that as well, but then I wondered if when the Celtics get their third win, it would make sense to give him some run before the next series.
Yeah, my game 4 prediction might be too aggressive, but I think they will try to work him in as soon as they're confident things are ok, for exactly the reason you said.

Sounds about right.

I see people on Twitter saying to let him rest more, we’re already up 2-0 etc but I think that’s the wrong attitude.

Never know how any series will turn, especially with the talent level of the Nets.

A 4 week-ish return is totally reasonable for a partial meniscectomy with an unexciting smooth rehab period.

Waiting another few days or week isn’t going to make any sort of long term difference, this isn’t at all like a hamstring or calf strain/partial tear. In those cases, returning too fast does have some pretty significant risk.

I wonder i this is the Celts playing a little post-season poker: we see your returning headcase in G3 and bump you with TimeLord.

Give Nash and the Nets something to get distacted about.

Check the Round 1 thread, Simmons is out. Doubt he comes back at this point tbh.

Super happy that he's already signed to an extension. It allows everyone to be on the same page with regards to his future (not a small consideration, given that we've seen a couple of reports in recent weeks about teams and personnel not agreeing on the status of injured players) and while I'd like to imagine that TL would be all gung-ho about returning to the court in the minimum time with free agency and a big contract on the line, it's really good not to worry about it.

Pain free in 5-on-5 x two practices, 4 weeks out, basically as good as we could have hoped after the injury/surgery announcement.

Probably some rust but a part time role game 3 and something close to a normal game 4 would be awesome.
