Man, I hate to hear this. I'm no Jets fan for sure but I've always liked Bowles. Loved him as a player w/ Washington. He may be one of those great coordinators who can't translate that talent into a HC position. Hope it's nothing serious.

He had a great first season and his second season was destroyed by Fitzpatrick and the corpse of Revis. Not sure if I would conclude based on that that his coach skill can't translate to being a head coach.

Hopefully this is an argument we can have when it turns out that this is nothing.

Bummer.

I like him, too. When we first played him last year, I was worried the Jets were going to be a force going forward, and I found that without RR, I didn't hate them as much.

Get better!

i've always kinda liked the Jets, in a little-brother sort of way. their fans are loyal and really, really wish they didnt have to root for a laughingstock of a team. I sympathize - all Pats fans can sympathize, right? - and it's not like they have some historical dominance or crushing playoff win over us that they keep rubbing our noses in (before 2010, anyway, and it's not like their fans will throw that in anyone's face given the rest of the Belichick era).

Todd Bowles seems like the first genuinely competent coach they've had since I can recall, who runs the team with an air of professionalism and maturity and focus. The team stopped beating themselves and seemed to be playing up to their abilities. They were not far away from winning in Foxboro last year, and did in fact win (in OT) in NJ, wresting HFA away from the Patriots even if they didn't make the playoffs themselves.

I certainly wish him well and think he'll do a good job coaching somewhere. If the Jets get rid of him, that would be a shame.

Yes, calling 911 at chest pain and nausea would be the usual move, but hey, Jets.

I know it's the Jets but presumably the trainers have a good degree of medical training, at least enough to relatively figure out whether he needs an ambulance or not. That or Woody doesn't give insurance that makes calling an ambulance untenable.

I think the worrisome bit is the "after being given medication" part.

So, glad he's okay.

Wonder what this does for team's psyche.

The offense looked fantastic when they beat the Bills early on. They lost too many weapons, though. Decker out killed them, but the biggest loss IMO was Ivory. I love watching him run between the tackles- he punishes defenders. Just read Von Miller saying that Ivory is one of the guys he hates to face, that by the second half he dreads having to tackle the guy. Those losses, no TE to speak of, and an OL that keeps getting older- Fitz regressed to the mean, but he had less help this year.

Plus they pretty much gave up. Their effort has been more than pathetic the past few weeks. We'll see if they come to play today.

Should have stayed in the hospital one more day instead of witness this performance.

I feel bad for the guy. Certainly seems like a classy guy -- certainly a good DC, but....

The only thing that saved his job today is that he was in the hospital last night for how can he otherwise have been allowed to board the team plane back to NJ? That decision to kick a FG to stave off the "humiliation" of suffering a shutout was a gutless choice reminiscent of what I see on Friday nights at my local high school. For an NFL coach to wave the white flag and be more concerned about avoiding a show of zero points on the scoreboard makes it clear that his focus is not on what it should be (competing!!) and his priorities are very misguided.

Health issues aside, there's no evidence that he's an actual good NFL head coach. He caught lightening in a bottle last year with Fitzy and an easy schedule, and still threw up all over himself with a week 17 game to get into the playoffs, and he's obviously completely lost this year's team.

I kind of think he sucks so I hope the Jets keep him at least one more year. Glad he's not seriously ill, though.

I'm glad I was traveling because I might have been in the hospital had I watched this game
