We also don't hear about Amendola's workout regime.
We do. Dola comes in and says he believes in moderation – stretching *and* lifting.
Edelman has a future in some form of media. The guy is naturally clever and hilarious.
He’s also super good looking (as are all three of these dudes). So, yeah, I’m sure he’ll be fine.

I watched all three episodes tonight for the first time. Loved them. And agree, the car ride w Giselle was terrific. Brady was fucking ripshit after that loss (which itself is awesome).

If nothing else, it’s just great to finally see a little bit (anything really) about Brady after all these years.

Caught up on ep. 2 and 3 tonight. Thinking Tom and Julian's relationship/trust is more than I realized. Also, after having watched those, Danny 'playoff' Amendola makes a ton more sense now. Tom goes to those he trusts when it matters the most.

Edit - which we all knew, but it was reinforced even more during this documentary

I think you're right. He said, "if we beat the Jets, that's 4-2. Then that's a big game against Atlanta. And we'll pull it out. That's 5-2"

I think it shows that he was hopeful and they could get to the bye at 6-2. And I bet if he expounded further, he would have said something along the lines of, "honestly, I can see us going 14-2. Although at Miami could give us fits. So let's say 13-3"
Might as well post the clip:

It’s a group of friends busting each other’s chops. That’s it.

These episodes are outstanding. I love all of it and I want them to never ever end. I think my favorite parts are the little bits of family time we’ve gotten. But really enjoying every part so far.
there's no way a mid 60 YO guy like me can really identify with a guy like Brady EXCEPT, when I saw that last scene where his daughter comes in and she's got him totally wrapped around her adorable 5 YO finger. He's totally owned. And as a dad to a daughter that I understood. And it makes him very likeable and identifiable.

Totally agree. It even seemed like Tom was going to tell her to wait a bit and be patient, and then the director was like, "nah, go ahead" and he went. He has said in clips before that he can't say no to her and it causes some issues in the house. You can see why. She's adorable.

I loved the line (paraphrasing) “when I look into your eyes I want to see that you want the same things I want. When I see that it’s like let’s go”.

Read this before watching the 3rd episode and I feel like this is taken out of context. It was after the 4th game and they were 2-2. It’s a guy trying to map out a path to making the playoffs after a bad start. It did not come off as cocky whatsoever to me, the opposite in fact. He’s upset and he’s going through a mental coping exercise.

Damn right. Both my girls could work me. And now the three year old next door does and she is not even my granddaughter.

New one is out. Emotional Game. Focus more on the struggle between family and football.

Great scene with his Mom getting an official coach, player level ring from Robert.

and fun discussion with kid about $70 toy and chores has to do to earn it.

That scene (with mom) was great. They just seem like such a normal family. Sure, they live in a huge house and receive tons of media attention. But he drives himself and his family home after games. I guess I assumed he’d have a driver or something. And he makes his kid do chores to earn the $70 to buy a toy. It just is completely not what I pictured when I think about multimillionaires.

I think these would have already been great if it was just any recognizable sports star. That it happens to be Brady is amazing. These are really great to watch. I agree, they seem like a grounded, normal family.

Loved the last bit. Even his daughter is sick of the Patriots winning!

Stupid pissant daughter. She certainly got her wish! ;)

Gisele seems like such a normal sports wife. Cheering in the box, eating popcorn, leading the high fives. I love that.

A really good behind the scenes look there. One thing I had an issue with is there is no chance Jack made his bed, the kid was lying.

Few obs from episode 5
1. You’re Tom Brady, married to Giselle, have more money than just about everyone on the planet... park your car in the garage! Seeing Tom clean the snow off of his car was probably the first time I’ve questioned his decision making on anything!
2. His kids watch Super Why! Which means nothing except that my kids were (and still are) watching it while I was watching the episode.
3. Why does Michael Strahan get listed in the “special thank you” section of the credits?

Will episode 6 ever come out? Or is this one of those deals where he doesn’t stay on the field to shake the other QBs hand when he loses?

Meeting them outside the locker room with Gisele wasn’t good enough? I actually wonder if Chopra got any post-game footage.

They had to redo the whole thing because it had been edited based on the Patriots winning. Which is weird because thinking you might win and doing things like having a plan for possible travel or a potential parade or something like that is pretty much the worst thing you can ever do and is totally disrespectful of the other team. Or so I've read. Surprised I haven't seen more about it actually.

I’d imagine it focuses on the SB and they need time to do more interviews and edit. Not sure it’s more complicated than that.
Nope. It was scheduled to come out the week after the SB. Pretty disrespectful of Tom to just assume the Patriots would win when you think about it.

So, they want to build this religion of sports brand. They decide to do a 6 part series about Tom's preparation. Series stalls because the director is completely unprepared for the fairly likely outcome that an NFL team won't repeat.

Even if the Pats won, I still didn't like the timing of this or the self-promotion. Both Tom and Bill took one in the chin this month and it will be interesting to see how they respond.

Oh come on. Poor planning, maybe, but if they had won and needed time to shoot people would be saying “Pretty disrespectful of his team to not have confidence that they’d win!”

You think anybody goes around the locker room asking “Hey, guys, what if we lose?”

And I say that as someone who thinks the whole series is a little silly and vain to begin with.

Edit: I find it hard to believe. They’d have had to film and cut it with post-super bowl interviews and commentary regardless. Why would a loss take longer? You’re pulling our legs, right?

I found this note, posted on Feb 9:

A special note from Tom vs Time filmmaker and Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra:

"Everyone keeps asking me about Chapter 6 of 'Tom vs Time' and when it’s going to be ready. The truth is we had a plan, but unconsciously, it was tied to the Pats winning the Super Bowl and, when that didn’t happen (congrats, Eagles!), I felt like we needed to pause and recalibrate. While we have amazing stuff from the playoff run, Tom’s hand injury and the great comeback in the AFC Championship, once the Super Bowl played out, I started to wonder the relevance of all that other stuff and determined that we really needed one final exit interview with our guy before we could figure out what Chapter 6 was truly going to be about. This morning, we did that interview. It ran over an hour and we talked about a lot of things. I’m not gonna give anything away ... but for curious minds, Tom was both reflective and upbeat, very present and disappointed in last Sunday’s loss, while also gracious toward the Eagles for their impressive victory and already unpacking everything to find the lesson in it. As a fan, I can say I got some great closure and I hope Tom did too in just talking about it. I can tell he’s burning up still on the inside. But I am also reminded why the guy is the GOAT and it’s all gonna be OK. So, Chapter 6 — 'Coming Soon!'"

Who is ‘them’? Are you saying Tom met Eli Manning (twice) and Nick Foles outside their locker rooms and shook hands and congratulated them then? Because that’s not what happened. And I’m fully aware that Giselle stopped every Eagle she saw to say congrats and that Tom sent messages blah blah blah.

I love Tom Brady. And I’m sure I’m being Grandpa Simpson yelling at the cloud here, but I think it’s weak sauce that Brady has stayed on the field and met the opposing QB for the somewhat traditional congratulatory hug/handshake only when his team won the game. Five handshakes, three gotta go’s. Weak.

He’s still the greatest and super dreamy. He’s just a poor sport, too.

So you're saying it's okay for a team to assume they would win? And it's not presumptuous to plan things based on their having won?
Huh.

Dunno. Ask the filmmaker. I suppose it's possible he was lying though about the reason it was delayed though.

I'm saying, if the timeline was set in stone for the video, it seems perfectly normal to me that a highly competitive athlete would say "We will plan on us winning because I'm not going to go to a place, days/weeks before the Super Bowl while I'm preparing, where I imagine losing."

You're taking an unnecessarily harsh view of what is probably SOP leading up to a big game. Again: do you think the players sit around and openly talk about their plans if they lose? Do you think the coaching staff would be ok with that? With Brady discussing *his* legacy (in a justifiably favorable light) in a hypothetical where the *team* loses? Talk about shitty leadership.

Also...It could be that they want to wait to release it because it looks awfully tone deaf to put out what is basically a self promotion after a tough loss, and it could also be considered disrespectful to both the Patriots and Eagles not a wait a while until the dust settles. Had the Patriots won, that wouldn't have been the case.

The best possible episode 6 - imo - would have the same structure (and perhaps even name) of episode 1. Emphasizing the persistence and Sisyphean nature of what he has been doing for almost 2 decades would be fantastic.

So ... teams prepare for a game thinking they're going to win? And plan for events happening after the game has been won?
You're so so close to getting the point. And yet it continues to slip through your hands.

Maybe episode six will be Tom quietly walking the parade route, alone.
