Tagging Godwin at $16+ seems unwise with Evans’ cap hit of $16+, no?
Tag for a WR I believe is $16 flat. And no, letting a 25 year old stud WR walk for nothing is much more unwise.
Also, they’re not cutting Donovan Smith. $14.5 is a pretty good deal for an LT of his caliber

The Bucs organization should be embarrassed. They trotted out the Tampa Bay health care workers as props during the super bowl and then celebrate like idiots today. The whole team looked just like the fans that were condemned by the Mayor of Tampa for partying without masks.
I mean it's Florida, what would you expect? The entire state seems to think COVID is fake.

Brady also asked Nantz to "come closer" because he couldn't hear him in the post-game even though he was being broadcast over the PA. Great football player and thanks for the memories, but man does he seem like a complete Gwyneth Paltrow-esque bozo. "Naive" is a very gentle take.

No masks on the boats doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. We did a ton of boating last summer and didn't once wear a mask, although granted we were never in a boat parade like that. The optics aren't great I guess but that part of the celebration doesn't seem that bad to me (the other parts, not so great for sure). That said, Brady is clearly anti-mask, probably because he thinks he's got a super immune system fueled by whatever concussion water he's taking now. It's a bad look for sure but at this point you have to accept that Brady is a fucking weirdo about a lot of stuff. I've learned to compartmentalize but YMMV and I can understand if others can't. For me his off the field persona doesn't rise to the level of a Tyreek Hill or Antonio Brown, who I didn't want on the Pats last season, but I confess I haven't really sat down to think critically about it.

Brings to mind the old story of Brady drinking the guys under the table in Buffalo after a game one time.

Glad he let the mask slip a bit. Makes him more relatable.

The entire team, including the highest visibility player in the NFL, partied f******* maskless in full public view during the worst pandemic this country has seen in over a hundred years. Already over 400,000 fellow citizens dead. Individual lives, families, and communities have and continue to suffer.

I love what Tom Brady did for the New England Patriots franchise, but F*** him and his entitled, selfish, willful ignorance. The parade those ignoramuses put on should be a bridge too far for every conscientious human being on this board.

That second sentence seems to me an odd and poor choice of phrase. Guessing it wasn’t intentional.

EDIT. Nevermind.

But yes, it was intentional and not COVID related. It's a common phrase. Stand down private.

They were on separate boats in open space together with pretty much the only group of people who have been regularly tested and contact traced in the country. Is it the best look? No. It's not disgraceful either.

But yes, ideally there would've been no parade.

If you have a low risk of contracting the virus outside around ppl you’ve already been around that are being tested all the time plus an expected >99% survival rate, party on. Not everyone wants to spend the rest of their lives in a basement.

You know Florida has been pushing the vaccine hard and started vaccinating 65+ (instead of 75+) early on, right?
To not turn this into V&N this will be the last post like this...but they fired an employee for publishing accurate COVID data and recently conducted a raid on her home because she was vocal in calling out their lies.
FL has done nothing right when it comes to COVID and has actively fought against science.

This will get deleted or moved but that’s the same simpleton thinking that says: FL always fucks up the election! FL is all white, rednecks that have sex with alligators! FL is America’s nursing home!

not quite sure what V & N is but based upon this , I am thinking it must be about the same as Chiefs Plant when it comes to critical thinking.

There was nobody on our boat who wasn't already in our bubble (small family boat that holds 8 or so people). Similarly, the TB players have been practicing, traveling and playing together, and have been regularly tested. I get that the optics were shit but for at least the boat part not wearing masks doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Having a boat parade to begin with that will attract crowds is another story.

Edit: grammar

Some people don't want to be permanently erased from earth because a sports team was celebrating a trophy they give out every year.

Came across this interesting nugget when comparing Russell Wilson's playoff game log to Brady's (side note, lol)

Brady has 9 playoff games with 30+ completions, and another 8 with < 20 completions. In those games he is... 17-0.

Drew Brees has won one Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers has one. Russ Wilson has one. Even though pretty much all of us expect more, Patrick Mahomes has one. Peyton Manning won one when he was a great QB and a second as a bad QB because he had an historically great defense.

Everything is definitely easier with a great QB, no question. But winning a Super Bowl remains hard for everyone... except Tom Brady.
It's interesting to look back on the QB's whose teams were eliminated by Brady in the playoffs. All total, 27 QB's were eliminated at the arm of Brady; theoretically, each one could argue that they had a Super Bowl chance taken away by Brady. In some cases (Tim Tebow), that argument would not hold much water. But there are clearly some really good QB's and future HoF'ers that have less Super Bowl rings than they probably would have otherwise thanks to Brady:

QB's where Brady directly cost them a ring, by virtue of losing the SB:

Kurt Warner: Only 1 Super Bowl Ring in his HoF career
Jake Delhomme
Donovan McNabb: 6x Pro-Bowler that never sniffed the SB again
Russell Wilson: 1 and counting
Matt Ryan: Future HoF'er denied a ring
Jared Goff
Patrick Mahomes

QB's who were denied a SB appearance by Brady in the AFCCG or NFCCG:

Kordell Stewart: Steelers probably would have lost to the Rams.
Peyton Manning: Suck it! But the Colts would likely have handled the Panthers in a close game.
Ben Roethlisberger (2x): May have beaten a wounded Eagles team or the imperfect Falcons for a 3rd or even 4th ring
Philip Rivers: Would have been an all-time upset in the AFCCG, but the Chargers played the Pats right to the end, and Brady was hurt after the game. May have beaten the Giants in what would have been his first and only SB appearence.
Joe Flacco: That Ravens team may have handled the Giants more easily than the wounded Pats, giving Flacco 2 rings.
Andrew Luck: Probably would have lost to the Seahawks, but a talented QB never got back to the conference championship game.
Blake Bortles: If he makes a Super Bowl, it will probably be as the holder on the field goal unit.
Mahomes: KC would likley have shredded LA. 0-2 in the playoffs against TB12.
Aaron Rodgers: Will he get another shot at it?

Earlier round eliminations:

Rich Gannon: That Raiders team was pretty good, but doubtful they would have beaten the Rams had they gotten by the Steelers
Steve McNair: The co-MVP whose team was 1 yard short never made it back to the Big Game. Titans would have had a chance against both Colts and Panthers.
Peyton Manning: NFL changes the rules, and Peyton still loses. Would have had to beat Steelers and Eagles.
Byron Leftwich: He can tell his grandchildren that he won a Super Bowl coaching Brady. But he did win 2 rings as a backup to Big Ben.
Chad Pennington: He can tell his grandchildren that he beat Brady twice over his career. May not want to mention the 7 losses.
Philip Rivers (2x): Went 0-3 against Brady in the playoffs. 2006 most likely cost him ring; 2018 would have been more difficult w/ the Chiefs in the way.
David Garrard (2x): 1-2 career playoff record, with both losses against Brady.
Tim Tebow: His reward for that highlight reel pass to beat the Steelers was a matchup against Brady in his final playoff game.
Joe Flacco: The only QB not named Manning to beat Brady more than once in the playoffs. Should have been able to fend off the Colts; tossup if they beat Seattle.
Matt Schaub: Got to the SB as a backup, and thought his ring was secure once the Tevin Coleman caught that pass from Ryan.
Andrew Luck: Luck's Colts had 4 playoff runs, 2 cut short by Brady.
Alex Smith: Beat Brady in a regular season blowout once.
Brock Osweiler: Those Houston teams always came up short.
Marcus Mariota: Surprise upset of the Chiefs was rewarded with a courtesy appearance against Brady in Foxboro. Got revenge as a backup where he threw 1 pass.
Blake Bortles: Seems likely that his next appearance in a SB will be as a backup.
Taylor Heinicke: Something to tell his kids and grandkids, after he acquitted himself well.
Drew Brees: Saints probably were not good enough to beat either Packers or Chiefs.

Tom Brady saying his niece is the most dominant athlete in the family seems like the kind of obnoxious comment that someone really sure (or insecure?) of his own position makes, which is actually a bit insulting to the other person because it’s just a reminder to that person that the commenter thinks (or knows) he is better. Am I wrong about that?
On the flip side, how many people knew who Maya Brady was before he tweeted? We all remember her from that ridiculous dodgeball fastball but guessing most people have never heard of her. Assuming she is fine with the added attention, it's kind of a nice shoutout, IMO.

This is the correct take. He was throwing shade at Youkilis. He could have done it more artfully like - best hitter in the Brady family but maybe that was a little too hard of a dig at Youkilis. Brady is too smart and too good on social media to try and diminish the accomplishments of his niece.

How is it shade at Youkilis? Was there any risk that Youkilis was the most dominant athlete in the family? Still seems like a bit of narcissism, mixed with paternalism, to me.

It’s just some well-meaning bullshit about his niece that everyone knows is bullshit but it’s sweet. Because it’s his niece.

Right—that was my point. It’s bullshit in the way that’s supposed to be sweet, but actually is a bit cutting, because really it’s him commenting on how he is the most dominant athlete in the family. Like, the comment doesn’t really have the same effect unless you know Tom believes that her greatness will always be measured against his.

I’ll let it go. Not the first time I’ve overanalyzed something.
