I'm sure their audience is furious that they wanted to talk about something else in addition to diving.

Fred Toucher @FredToucher
@dimodapr In the future our interviews with public figures will be less personal and more celebrity diving focused.

It's always amusing when these PR people get all upset when they book a client on a show to promote something relatively obscure, and the show hosts want to talk more about whatever the client is actually famous for. This is the way the game is supposed to be played...in exchange for promoting whatever goofy product/show/activity the celeb is endorsing, they have to cover some topics of the host's choosing as well. And I'm sure there was conversation between the producers and the PR folks explaining exactly that before the interview. Good for T&R for not continuing the interview when they weren't getting their fair part of the interview.

Show should be outstanding tomorrow. This is the type of thing, like the Bobby V Press Conference fiasco, that gets Fred disproportionally wound up. Expecting an epic rant.

I thought that was a great interview. From the start with him actually listening to T&R and throwing that out, to the insight about the timeline of when he learned the deal was coming down, when agents were able to talk to teams, his stint in SA for FLA's team etc. He answered about 10 questions most people had on the NHL Lockout, the end of it and where we go from here for guys that aren't signed. Weekend shows were speculating about it for hours and in 10 minutes Mottau answered most of it.

Epic Fred rant on the Brent Musburger controversy.

My favorite segments are when Fred goes off ... he's the best ranter on radio.

T&R are looking to have Eric Van call them, seriously.

I missed the beginning of this segment, how the hell did they get on SoSH and Eric Van? Is it in the CHB book?

The Wiggins Chicken Parm stuff today was great.

Does anyone know Eric Van from the Sons of Sam Horn message board that according to the new Francona book John Henry hired?

Van was mentioned in the book. Pete Abraham had it yesterday:
It was interesting to learn that Epstein hired two "outside consultants" to put together proposed lineups for Francona every day. Eric Van was hired after Henry noticed him on the Sons of Sam Horn message board. Voros McCracken, a pioneer in sabermetrics, was the other.
Francona never met them and he wasn't mandated to use their lineups. But at one point Francona told Epstein he had enough of the suggestions and to keep them to himself.

Tito got fed up with being handed lineup suggestions every day that had Lugo hitting cleanup. Can you blame him?

Be prepared. The bare-bones narrative of EV/SoSH/Sox is a lot more compelling than the 'insider' story, and if T&R decide to make it a thing (they certainly found it fascinating), the conversation isn't going to get down into the methodological and moral shades of gray. I'm sure, at this moment, they think EV is the golden child of SoSH.

I almost ran my car off the road when they mentioned Eric Van and SoSH.

I thought Eric only worked for the Sox for a short time.
You and me both!

I was imagining which SoSHer would be the first to call in, and the odds that the whole thing would become a long-running T&R punchline.

Which still seems possible to me...

I wonder how many lineups Tito got with Tek on the bench due to his sleeping disorder.

I wonder what T&R's position on Mission of Burma is?

Edit :googling Eric Van I come up 2nd with this:

I probably shouldn't find it that funny, but they just had Eddie Money do the CBS sports Update with a clip from his show, hilarious.

That was great. The chachi one was good too.

That was the funniest recap in a long time. I'm sick of them usually but that chick was nuts and the two guys insistent on blowing players.

Weird thing is I'm at the airport in London and they just called out looking for Adolfo Gonzalez. Very random.

Adolfo doing "Vic" Reilly at open mic night was hilarious. ("I'll have what SHE'S having!") And Fred's hate of Rick Reilly is almost always gold.

I love Fred's hate of Rick Reilly. I always thought sucked on SI too when my friends were obsessed with the back page, but that's just me. That bit was from last week and during the Super Bowl, some listener started a Vic Reilly account on Twitter. He was posting horrible jokes and actually beat the real Rick Reilly to two of them. Rick deleted one after being mocked.

What they've done to Reilly has been my favorite media-related radio bit on any show in years and years. Adolfo reading one-liners at the comedy show is sublime. Reilly trying to be funny, and acknowledging his (probably Middle America) popularity, actually makes you think Leno is pretty damn good at pulling this shit off.

They need to get rid of the "What you missed (last night) with Rich" stuff from 6:20-6:45.  Its basically rehashing the Flash, with one or two stupid audio clips from the games.  People don't tune in to this show to hear what the Lakers did last night or who scored a goal in the Beanpot.  This has been a real problem for them since Crash left.  I didn't always like him and the News stuff, but at least they could make it funny.  The email segment was always more miss than hit to me, and now this.

Steve Buckley walked up to Rich and interviewed him for a video he was doing for the Herald.  Rich was starting random chants and acting like a real goofball and Buckley didn't recognize me.

I liked the perspective they took, not making fun of the die-hard fans who actually love this day but rather showing how Larry and the Dentist never miss a chance to capitalize on a marketing opportunity.  I will try to find the Buckley video and link it.

To be honest, with the beard and sunglasses I don't think I would have recognized Rich either.

The cheesy guitar riffs they play whenever they talk about Guy Fieri never cease to crack me up.
