If he wants to do that then he's probably on thin ice in general considering his job performance, bitching about having to do any of the street stuff, and brings nothing to the table other than street audio, which he doesn't seem to ever want to do.

He can't answer the phones right, he forgets to call guests, he hangs up on people. He's lucky they pity him.

It sounds like he's not even answering the phones anymore. They mentioned the other day they have a new intern doing that now.
They also had the new intern bringing the Wallach Head to Truck Day. It's sad when an Intern can start and in a few days take 90% of your job.

I haven't found them to be "awful", but they're not particularly engaging. They're... fine. In my opinion, anyway.

This is a lesson about why people like Felger and Mazz make the kind of show that they do. It may be stupid and full of scorching hot takes, but it's compelling. Isn't the #1 rule of radio: don't be boring?

Johnston and Flynn this week: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Oh thank god I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Flynn paired with anyone else I can handle but add Johnston into the mix, all I focus on is his monotony and uncharismatic personality behind the mic.

I usually like them but they were slow this week

Flynns stories from the Ravens locker room are always great though. The story of Sapp in the shower was hilarious.

Probably nothing. Would Comcast swoop in with an offer seeing as how two of The Sports Hub's shows are on their network?

Fred has said on T&R a few times that they get no ratings at all on Comcast and barely have any sponsors. Felger and Mazz may be a different story though.

If CBS Radio goes I'm not sure how I'll be able to live a complete life without the CBS Sports Minute with Jim Rome or Doug Gotlieb :(

I hate those cbs sports minutes with a passion. They have made my hate for Doug Gotlieb increase, something I did not believe was possible. If this means those are gone, I am all for it.

No, Jim Rome and his unnecessary use of outdated slang in his sports minutes I can do without. I hope DA comes back to replace Adam Jones's tired Felger-wannabe act.

Man, you guys are right about Jones and his Felger-lite schitck. It's even worse that he doesn't just own it--"I'm not saying we should be concerned if Price gets shelled today..." "I think the Jones trade is a good one, I'm just playing devil's advocate Brutal radio.

At least Keefe is funny. He had great chemistry with Fred the few times they've been on together. I wonder if that would get stale, though.

I'm at a loss to understand how the higher-ups at the Sports Hub don't see how much better Keefe and Ed Hardy are than Jones. He's so generic, it's almost uncanny. Of course, as long as the ratings are solid, there's not much impetus for them to care.

Ed Hardy?
What can I say? I think he's solid, occasionally funny, and typically makes even a show with Jerry Trupiano kind of listenable. He also produced some of the better 98.5 mile rap battles--so he's got that going for him.

But sure, YMMV, absolutely.

No one else finds this beautiful? The rest of you wouldn't want to listen to the creative genius behind this?

And yes, my middle-aged ears have listened to him off and on for years thinking Ed was his first name and failing to see his real name on his Twitter handle. So I'm an idiot--but Hardy is still miles ahead of Adam Jones. And so is Ed Hardy.

It was mentioned some point this weekend that they are mixing the weekends up. They are taking Hardy away from Hardy and Trupe.

I think they said it was going to be:

Hardy & Trenni (which I'm looking forward to)
Joe Murray & Trupe. (Not so much)

March Badness is a dreadful bit. Can't wait for it to be over.
Agreed. Really since around Christmas I've been tuning this show out more and more. I don't know if it's a difference in the show or if I'm channeling my inner Pitino but the negativity on this show stinks and it sucks. Since the Brady scandal that shall not be named I've been trying to actually enjoy sports and avoid the negative crap surrounding them. I usually love Fred's rants but lately they've just been so repetitive and like he knows best how to be a fan etc. Like he's too cool for anything that people like.

The March Badness isn't helping. Yes the Patriots touchdown song is cheesy but who really gives a shit? Every team has them and no matter what someone would say it sucks. You don't need to spend 5 days going over it. And Fred's Bruins/Eriksson rant is the same every single time. It's like he saw one guy on twitter say "watch when they don't make the playoffs" and rails against the entire fanbase for that.

Hopefully the Bruins do make the playoffs and that helps the show.

We need to get Sean Grande a new job. This show could really use some Rich Keefe to add a younger, lighter perspective, and he'd bring out he best in Fred.

That said, I did enjoy listening to the hilarity of the Ortiz spring training and subsequent in-season celebrations.

This sucks to read. I was a daily listener and at some point during the Patriots season, I can't recall when, I just stopped listening to F&M and T&R and started listening to Spotify.

Now when I try and listen, it's painful for both shows. T&R "Armpits of America", yawn I've heard that bit for 2 years now and it's not as funny. Hey another drunken recap.. woohoo.

Hopefully they will right the ship soon and bring me back as a listener.

I think that some boredom might be subconsciously creeping into the show. Both Fred and Rich have been on podcasts recently and mentioned that they'd be open to "taking another step" with the show. They've obviously mastered what they set out to do in Boston, and I can see how the scene might get old for truly creative, ambitious people. I think they're professionals and will always make a high-end show, but I wonder if they're not thinking a little bit about the next challenge.

I have been feeling a bit of the same way. It used to be must listen radio, but it's been stale for the last few months. I still listen to pieces of it every day and when i'm in the home office, i always have CSNNE on but it's been in a lull. Part of it is the Bruins are boring and going down the tubes again, the Sox are still in ST and how much can you talk about Fat Panda and people are still not fully on board with the Celtics.

The Celtics should be a much much more compelling story, but people just don't seem to care. I've been fascinated with the Celtics and have watched a lot this year because it's damn entertaining how they're doing it.

I also think Deflategate wore everyone down in sports radio over the last year. Between Deflategate, CTE (which is on right now) and the NFL being a deplorable organization, it has taken a lot of the fun out of talking football, especially this time of year.I hear CTE or DG, i just turn it off.

I haven't listened to this much public radio in years including WUMB. It's refreshing, really.

Fred is complaining about student sports broadcasts? Oy, he's really may be becoming a parody of himself.
That was really painful. He went on for like 15 minutes, too. All i wanted was to hear the UNC Radio call of the game and he kept interrupting Rich, basically to make fun of student sports broadcasts because they "miss out on the college experience"....aka, they are losers.

Everyone's a loser. I mean who would possibly enjoy traveling to college towns on your schools dime to call a game on the radio?! When one could be attending his 157th Tuesday night happy hour at the local dive bar??

I thought that Kennedy interview was solid as well. Give them credit for not just backing off and lobbing softballs at him, but actually asking him about all the stuff they make fun of.

I was hoping they'd ask if Flavin was actually on the payroll or a volunteer. Great news he'll be there opening day!

I wish they could find a way to hire Mike Gorman in Wallach's chair. He is incredible and gets along great with both Fred and Rich and seems to love it. What a great guy

I didn't want to get out of my car but had to get into work. His chemistry with T&R is amazing. Looking forward to hearing the rest when the podcast comes up.

Every time I hear Gorman on T&R, I'm mystified that he doesn't have a wide national profile. He's a superb play-by-play guy, a wonderful, engaging raconteur, and a bright and engaging person.
