Yeah, I caught the replay they did around 9:15 and almost missed a meeting because I didn't want to miss the end.
I'm not sure why it was funny but it was.

Can they get rid of Wallach and replace him with Hardy? Hardy was very good filling in this week so far and when Fred was out.

Only issue is he may be too much as a 3rd chair with Fred and Rich. He works well on Zolak And Bertrand because they need an active 3rd chair.

How will Fred die today was great.

Completely agree, I thought Hardy did a real well today. Quick with the one liners and has a good rapport with Fred and Wallach. I'm a casual listener, and usually automatically tune out if I hear that one of Rich or Fred is off, but they didn't miss a beat today. Its been discussed in this forum before but it reinforces the notion that Fred is the driving force of this show. I definitely notice more of a quality drop off when he is off. There's not many people that can make compelling radio out of a ten minute discussion of "Eddie and the Cruisers", but he's one of them. I run into him at random bars throughout Boston every once in awhile and he is probably the easiest guy to have a beer with in the world, he's definitely not playing a character on the air.

They lead off from the break playing "On the Dark Side" which got them riffing about how Springsteen should have filed a lawsuit against the movie producers if it was filmed in Jersey , then talking about how bad the sequel was. It tends to bother some people that want nonstop sports talk but I encourage the pop culture riffs, especially when sports are in their post Super Bowl dead period. A good riff on John Cafferty beats another round of hot takes about where Jimmy G might end up.

How will Fred die today was great.
I loved how the original premise was that Hardy made like 5 different bits and they were going to choose from one of those to play later in the week. How Fred would die was literally the first one and Fred basically said "yea, we are doing this right now" and then there were full phone lines.

Sarge is such a disaster it's not even funny at this point. What a creep.
I personally thought the whole segment was an unfunny disaster (just heard the replay today.) The prepared questions for Sarge were terrible as were his responses, although you could tell he was nervous. Just use Sarge for the sound bit games and nothing else, thanks.

Agreed on Hardy today. He's a great fill in for Rich, because he can produce alot of bits and seems to have some creative/funny flare. They should have him in even when both Fred AND Rich are gone (if possible.) There is nothing worse than flipping on and hearing Johnston and Flynn (click.)

Was listening to T&R this morning and right before break Rich went on a tangent on how "Gronk at Wrestlemania is going to the hottest take of the day" and that the whole take was ridiculous since Gronk barely even made contact and it's all made up. Anyone with that take is just stirring the pot.

5 seconds after going to break, went to WEEI and they were just leading in with the WWE audio and Gerry, Kirk and Alex were all upset and up in arms about how bad it was and he's going to hurt himself and he should ever have done it.

Couldn't have tee'd it up any better

He took a worse "bump" today from Brady at Fenway.

This morning, Rich had to go home sick & Fred overslept, so we're 10 minutes into a solo Wallach trying to tread water with the assistant producer until Fred makes it in...brilliant radio. Just talked germs and flu shots for five minutes before Wallach remembered he can suck two minutes out of last night game recaps.

Crazy it's been almost a year since Adolfo left. Nick has done a great job taking over street audio duties - Jagr, Backes Boys, asking Sarge dating advice, Pokémon GO and the Snow is "bonanzas" bit have all been pretty funny. Plus he seems like he's got an actual personality. On the other hand, bird sucks.

Fred made a guest appearance at Cask and Flagon today with Hardy during Zo and Beetle and was hammered at 12:30 or so. i missed the first part but the second half with Jaffey was a bit awkward.

They were going over the top ten Simpsons episodes and didn't know what Last Exit to Springfield was about and insisted it shouldn't be one the list, suggesting Canyonero instead. That's just ignorant.

Big Book of British Smiles, Dental plan / Lisa needs braces, Lisa's protest songs, Hired goons, Burns and Smithers try to run the plant sequence... It's one of the best episodes of comedy TV period.

They also shat on Monorail ("a Conan musical") which is just insane.

I think it's a compliment to how brilliant the episode was that will likely be included in the first paragraph of Conan's obituary. Also had arguably the best Simpsons musical number depending on your feelings towards "Baby On Board" and "Can I Borrow a Feeling".

Leaving out Last Exit and Marge Vs the Monorail? What was their list?

This sounds like the radio version of click bait.

In no way shape or form is Canyonero a better episode than "Last Exit to Springfield" or "Marge vs. the Monorail".

What? It was one song that was about two minutes.

"Marge vs. the Monorail" is perfection. It's incredible to think that O'Brien wrote that whole episode by himself.

"I call the big one 'Bitey'" is a top five line, too.

Funny thing is they wanted George Takei in the Leonard Nimoy role but Takei was on a transportation board in San Francisco or something and took monorails very seriously. They found the one guy who actually took monorails seriously.

Fred's been on a very amusing anti-ESPN rant this morning, reminding us that he and Rich began to despise the WWL 10 years ago when they were on BCN and got into it with Jemele Hill and complaining about the nepotism that allows Golic Jr. to remain employed.

That was a fantastic hour. He's not just playing it up and being on a faux rampage either, but really really hates how ESPN is run and has been for a long time.

Mike Golic Jr. is probably one of the most useless people on ESPN and that's saying something. I loved the line about how Mike & Mike has made millions of dollars since they're so bland and non-controversial that Subway wanted to dump tons of cash into it after Jared turned out to be a child molester.

I liked the part where he started to have to write down all the things he had an issue with before he forgot.

The Cassidy interview this morning was one of the best I've ever heard with a coach/front office type. Little light joking with lots of good questions and back and forth. It's well worth seeking out if you're a Bruins fan.

Refreshing for someone in the Bruins organization to step up and talk to the media. Really solid interview and echoing above really worth checking out.

Of all the major interviews on both stations I think Danny and now Cassidy are the best ones. They're actually real conversations rather than just a standard interview.

Agreed on Danny too. I'm not even a Celtic/nba guy and they're enjoyable to listen to.
I think the Gorman interviews are even better. I learn something new every time. Plus, he's got a great, dry sense of humor and is not afraid to mix it up. But he is always respectful in how he does it.

Only caught the tail end of the Cassidy interview but was struck by how at ease he was walking the line between being a quality guest comfortable in his own shoes and still representing himself and the organization well.

Look forward to hearing more from him... and I wonder if he is that personable on the air if we should be seeing decent written pieces about him going forward. He sounds like an easy interview.

I liked when Fred was busting on Mike & Mike interviewing Goodell: "Would you like me to use my hands or my mouth?".

Anyone listen to the Wyc interview? He kinda stumbled and tried to awkwardly change topics when Rich suggested Paul Pierce represent the Cs at the lottery...makes me think that's already their plan and he was caught off guard

Wallach made some comment about how you have to be a team official to represent the team at the lottery. So, they would have to sign him to something.
