You guys misquote me all the time. One of you said I stopped taking the medicine for my throat? I used to come here to get a read on what normal people were saying about the show. However, some of you have created this character of me in your heads that is so far from reality I had to step in.

I don't even know if this is really you, but if it is, this thread started in 2009 and has thousands of posts. I hope that shows how much you are loved around here. We love how open and honest you are about your life, and genuinely care about you and the entire show. Please know the positive outweighs the negative here.

RIP Peanut, you guys.

It’s cool if you guys are negative. In fact I appreciate it. I just don’t like making up things that I didn’t say or creating a false character. I suck some mornings I know it

I have no idea if that's really Fred, but if so (or if not and if he's reading this, or not), I hope all is well with you and that your voice recovers quickly. Fred - and the whole show - made some years of miserable morning commutes bearable and I have much gratitude.

Be well Freddy T!

We’re about to be blessed with the voice of a generation. At least the FanDuel ad will remind us of gritty, salt of the earth Fred for the next ten years.

Does smoking cause long-term damage to the vocal chords? Some people seem to have a "smokers voice" after a while, hopefully it's reversible if you can quit.

My best to Fred for figuring out what's going on and gettting those sweet pipes back into shape.

I hope for his sake that IF it's smoking related, it's *only* damaged vocal chords.

Uninformed speculation? Polyps on his vocal cords. I have a couple of friends who had this. Both had their polyps surgically removed (both in their early 30s at the time), however the raspy voice became permanent. Neither guy was a smoker, aside from an occasional cigar.

I work with a guy who was about 40 with the same thing. He had them removed and couldn’t talk at all for about 12 weeks. He’s been fine for 4+ years since then. The not talking at all for nearly 3 months was key but also so hard.

Same Here. Hope it’s not cancer or something long term.
I know he went to a top of their profession specialist today but it seems like he's been to the doctors regularly. Would have to imagine if there was anything life threatening they would've flagged it long before today.

Obviously not important, but I imagine his time off the radio will coincide with the B’s playoff run. One more bummer. Get well Freddy.

Rich just read a statement from Fred that mentioned this latest doctor potentially saving his life, so unfortunately some pretty serious bleep going on. Get well soon Fred!

Fred also added that he was able to get in touch with the doctor because of a listener who connected them.
Also added that the doctor doesn't take insurance so between this and the divorce he's f'ed from a financial standpoint.

Good to see him doing what he needs to do to get better.

And it is not surprising to hear it took him going to a private practice to get anything accomplished, workplace healthcare plans are just absolute trash today, not surprising to hear they kept telling him all was fine when it wasn't.

Yes. Dale called in Hour 2. Jaffe was an on-air guest for his weekly spot. Rich and Jaffe once again congratulated Arnold on his career after Rich had played a montage about the Arnold Curse (Arnold shrugged it off). Arnold also made Wallach feel super awkward and embarrassed by apologizing to Wallach for whatever is was that caused such vitriol from Wallach. Arnold said he had no idea what it was that has caused Wallach to say nasty things about him but whatever it was he’ll (Arnold) own it 100%. Wallach squirmed a bit while Rich laughed at him. Was pretty gracious of Arnold to do; he even complimented Wallach on the career he’s built starting with his time at EEI. It was all sunshine and puppy dogs, with a side order of Wallach awkwardness.

Thanks for the recap, that's interesting will have to check out the replay.

I'm old enough to remember listening to Dale & Neumey followed by Dale & Holley, think (could be mistaken on this part) Wallach served as the Sports Flash guy for both shows.
After 98.5 started and Wallach moved over to T&R Rich used to try and coax it out of Wallach about why he didn't care for Dale. Eventually he gave in and talked about how Dale was adamant that Wallach was to never speak during the show outside of the flash segments which was a flex at the time given that Meterperol and Pete the Meat were the flash guys in the morning and afternoon shows yet also essentially third hosts. There was also some stuff about how Dale was very much the "Do you know who I am?" guy where he's the star and you just work here.

Arnold said on some podcast a few years ago (Minnihane?) that Wallach basically danced in his grave when Dale was laid off by WEEI back in the day. I’m guessing Dale did stuff to piss Wallach off before that as EEI seemed toxic but it was a bad look for Jon.

Arnold's instincts were correct, frankly. Wallach just isn't very interesting.

Wallach is awful

Mary is on right now for a push to raise money for Monday. The lead in was (I think) the WBZ story from a few years when she ran in the rain, stopped, then finished hours later with Rich

Wallach: So lets ask the question EVERYONE is thinking about...are you going to finish it in one shot this year?

Way to step all over one of the best T&R stories that ever happened....

I didn't know one of Mary's complications was needing to have a hip replaced. Running a marathon after everything she's been through is some major badassery.

Yea, Rich touched (no pun intended) on this recently. She knows it will be her last time that she has a shot at running and finishing. What a great story.

That being said...Rich, you don't have to play the ENTIRE Mike behind the Mic songs as the intro to your show. Cut off the last verse or at least the last chorus.

With Fred out I don’t think Rich will be producing as many comedic bits. Most of them build in “Fred reactions” as a big part of the humor. Wallach, to put it mildly, is not walking through that door. The supporting cast isn’t bringing much comedically either. Which means a bunch of time they’re just going to have to BS about sports (which without Fred isn’t great), pop culture (ditto), or gambling talk (blecch).

They can coast on NBA/NHL playoffs for a bit, plus the NFL draft, but if this stretches on they need to bring on either a really seasoned sports talk voice, or somebody Rich can run bits for who can improv and bring some humor to the show. Maybe there’s a local comic out there who could step in for a bit. Hey Bill Burr, want a break from selling out arenas?

There's zero chance Beasley is going to pay anyone to do anything outside of the core teams. They don't even want to pay the employees they have.

OK forget the Bruins or Aaron Rodgers/Jets - now people at Fenway are drinking beer out of shoes? What a time to be missing Freddy No Pockets.
