I had no issue with any individual player (unlike the 1998 Olympic team, who destroyed hotel rooms. Chelios was their captain, and wrote a check for the damage.)
It was just a badly constructed team, with the wrong coach picked. But, the coach did probably match the roster. I can see the case for needing a penalty killer or two. But grit will rarely beat talent, and with the team Canada compiled (which was no secret) they aren't really lacking in grit. It would have been tough for the US to win, anyway, but they were completely dominated by a more talented team. And the grit factor also did them in against Europe, where more talent might have made the difference.
