Dortmund and Chelsea and Club Brugge and Benfica on now.

Gio Reyna on early for Dormund due to a Julian Brandt injury.

Sterling with a fairly embarrassing whiff . . . and then gets by his man and fires it into the back of the net to get it level on the aggregate. Funny sequence.

Interesting handball call against Dortmund there. The upper arm was fairly tight but the forearm was sticking out a decent bit, maybe a little harsh but not unfairly given, I think, but goes back to the inconsistent way those have been called.

Havertz hits the woodwork anyways.

This ref is in over his head. That’s a shitty call on top of a questionable call

So - there were both Chelsea and Dortmund players encroaching - why should that advantage Chelsea?
It's interesting, the laws of the game don't seem to specify what to do when members of both teams encroach.

Given the Chelsea player was farther into the box, I think it should have been allowed to stand as a miss (or given a free kick to Dortmund).

Edit: I stand corrected, Google returned the 2018-19 version of rules when I looked, but the newest version of the rulebook has that exact case outlined. Rule was applied correctly.

I believe the rule is if there is encroachment by players of both teams, the kick is retaken. This is true regardless of if the kick was successful or not, so if he buried the first attempt it wouldn’t have counted. Agreed, that's an asinine result. Whenever they decided to allow the stutter and stopping by the shooter the whole thing went to a deeper ring of hell.

I'd like to know how Scott Parker fails at Bournemouth and Fulham but still ends up...getting the same scorelines BOU/FUL in the UCL with Club Brugge

How was Joao Felix? I suspect he has no interest in returning to Atlético, so I hope each good performance drives his price a bit higher or at least doesn’t diminish his value.

Unfortunately my friend Luis has been sick for a couple of weeks. But fortunately for me, I just got his ticket for the Union Berlin-Union St.-Gilloise game tomorrow night.

I’ve noticed it’s been getting harder and harder to win the random drawings for all Union Berlin tickets lately. Well, they just announced their membership now exceeds 50,000. That means it’s now probably about 1/3 chance to win the lotteries to buy tickets (accounting for season ticket holders that don’t enter). Just for reference, membership costs €10 per month.

So PSG basically has a striker pair composed of the best striker of the past 15 years and one who should be the best for the next 15 years.

Spurs looking like they have no idea how to get a goal, 2/3 CBs on yellow cards. Don't feel great about it so far.

de Ligt with an incredible sliding clearance off the line on an empty net to keep PSG from going level.

The Spurs match is pretty dull. 34 minutes in and we've had 4 combined shots, none on target.

I still can't get used to seeing Emerson pop up on the ball in central attacking positions.

Son and Kulusewski have both badly botched good crossing opportunities so far.

It's a problem because the team has zero other offensive ideas than crossing.

One of Kulu or Son really needs to get it together and fast. We can always bring on Richarlison but it's not like his form is sparkling either.

Finally a shot on target by Spurs. Keeper had it well covered. Milan look like they could score on the break though.

Kane trying to head the ball on the deck, not a good sign. Richarlison coming on in a minute though.

From an entertainment perspective, I’m a little disappointed Messi and Mbappe are out already. On the other hand, Ramos is a big dumb idiot and he’s a loser. So not all that bad I guess
