Barca need a goal or they are headed for Thursday night football next spring.

The whole “sell portions of future revenue so we can buy stars so we can become the biggest club in the world again so we can drive even more revenue” strategy doesn’t really work if they’re slumming it in the Europa League.

This Barca-Inter game is nuts. 89th minute goal for Inter to go up 3-2, then a stoppage time equalizer from Lewa.

What a finish in Barcelona. Barca climbed back into it twice and had chances to take the lead, but Inter ultimately see it out.

A game where both sides were dealing with short benches and everyone on the field left it all out there. Exhilarating stuff. Barca ultimately couldn't survive with their first, second, and third choice CBs being out. Both Pique and Garcia (2x) responsible for goals due to failing defending 101.

Inter firmly in the drivers seat to nab 2nd in the group behind Bayern. Even if Barca beat Bayern and Pilzen, Barca need Inter to lose to Bayern and drop points to Pilzen.

Liverpool need a point from their last 2 matches to secure a place in the knockouts.

Catching up on some highlight cuts from Paramount Plus. Onana is an absolutely horrible goalkeeper. He’s athletic, I guess, but has the worst technique I’ve ever seen. Positioning is meh and he doesn’t seem to have any sense of when to go for a cross. How does he keep landing gigs?

Inter got him on a free to be the backup and see if he could put it all together and take over when Handanović hangs it up. It’s a good low risk, high reward move.

But agreed, he looked bad today.

I didn't think he had a great game, but I came away more impressed by him than not. I firmly believe that somehow shotstopping has become an undervalued trait for keepers, with all the new emphasis on footskills.

I don't think he has any fault on the first goal. He cheats towards the cross as much as he can, but he doesn't abandon the near post which is his highest priority. IMO Skriniar gets caught ball watching, as Inter had good numbers in defense.

The second goal was a deflection that he didn't have a chance to react to, but I also didn't think his positioning was a problem. He's shaded a bit to his left, but otherwise pretty central, which is where the initial shot was taken from.

I think the third goal was a case of good offense beats good defense. That's a perfect ball in by Garcia and Lewa buried a difficult header. I mean, I'm not sure what you want Onana to do there. He certainly didn't have a chance to come out and get it.

His athleticism in beyond question, and IIRC he made a couple of pretty good saves yesterday.
