Great showing by UConn DT Travis Jones at the Senior Bowl. He destroyed a bunch of offensive linemen throughout his time there. Showed great power, nice moves, and looked like a legit high level NFL prospect.

"3. DEFENSIVE LINEMAN, TRAVIS JONES (UCONN)

Another player who was outside of pretty much every Top-100 you can find published, Jones will make his way onto plenty of them now.

Big, powerful, and literally moving large men from one spot to another, against their will.

Jones got to the quarterback in the game as well, which helps, but it's his motor and ability he put on the practice film that's going to get him drafted in this year's selection meeting."

From: https://bucsreport.com/2022/02/07/five-senior-bowl-winners-who-fit-the-buccaneers/

"Travis Jones, DT, UCONN

There are some players who establish themselves at the Senior Bowl and there are others who solidify themselves. Connecticut defensive tackle Travis Jones falls into the later category. Jones was definitely on the radar as a mid day two pick coming into last week. Now he could easily be a top 50 pick and even sneak into the late first round.

Jones looked like a man among boys through this week of practice. He’s 6’4 and 326 lbs with the power to anchor the middle of the defensive line as well as legitimate pass rush upside. The Bucs will love his size and ability to stuff the run. Don’t be shocked if Jones is Ndamukong Suh’s replacement next year."

From: https://www.yardbarker.com/general_sports/articles/football_travis_jones_climbs_up_nfl_draft_boards/s1_16964_37187033

"There might not have been a player that raised their draft stock higher at the Senior Bowl than UConn Huskies defensive tackle Travis Jones. He was dominant in the middle of the field all week in Mobile, continuously outmatching his opponents. Jones was able to win with strength, athleticism, leverage, and pure determination."

He's 6'5", 333 pounds, an absolutely mammoth individual. UConn was godawful this past season, but Jones was pretty consistently good. If he could be had for a second round pick, I'd love for NE to add him and pair him with Barmore in the middle.

Nice showing last night against Marquette. Need to hit the 3 ball so that Sanogo can take full advantage down low. Got Xavier on Friday night and the Johnnies on Sunday at MSG so still a tough stretch. Need to win both.

Hawkins helps with that. And Polley. But not much from long range in the current starting five. And Cole is terrible driving and trying to put up lay ups in traffic.

We should win both of these games. Xavier will be tough, St. John's is not a team we should lose to.

Nice home win against a good Seton Hall team. Sanogo is a beast. If they can shoot from outside they can play with anyone in the country. Defense and offensive rebounding are stellar

Hawkins to me is the key. He's been wildly up and down but when he gets hot he really helps give them what they need from the perimeter. And his defense seems to have picked up the past few games.

He's been a roller coaster emotionally though - which worries me when it comes time for the Big East Tourney but we'll see.

He's a freshman. Playing with adults. The Covid extra year means Whalley, Polley and Cole are all playing a fifth season. Lots of that around the Big East. Makes it tougher on a kid to break through. I mean, out of the highly rated recruiting class, he's the only one who is seeing the floor. Even Akok can't get minutes.

He will be fine. He and Polley are the only consistent 3 pt threats.

Flipping through channels, got to UConn/Xavier and I think I saw James Bouknight gets thrown out of the arena. Lol

What an embarrassingly pathetic showing by James Breeding tonight. Danny Hurley gets a tech for banging on the scorers table and another for revving up the crowd. Absolutely pathetic.
Yeah I don’t have a huge issue with the first T but the second one for amping up the crowed was an absolute joke. Ref let his feelings get hurt. Pathetic

Really was. I’ve been on them irt not being able to finish strong under Hurley. Didn’t look good with 30 seconds to go but they got it done somehow. Proud of the team. Not sure about the court storming but the students haven’t had a lot of fun moments/big wins in the last 5 years. Let them have fun I guess.

Solid game. Sanogo killed them tonight. Missed about 4-5 layups right at the bucket. Hits half of those it’s a different game.

And / or make his free throws. He missed 4 of 7. For a guy who takes all his shots from inside 5 feet he misses a lot. I like the guy, he works his backside off. But in a game like this he can't go 6-15. That's not going to cut it.

A great BE tourney game, great atmosphere. Nice to see it, even if UConn came up short.

Sanogo needs to think backboard every time on his bunnies. Or try to dunk it and get fouled. He somehow consistently short arms shots that travel 3 feet or less. Meaning 3 feet from hand to rim.

He’s easy to defend. Pressure him and his misses a lot. Collapse on him because he’s not good at passing our of double teams - he will force a shot up. If they play someone with a relatively strong big, he’ll struggle immensely. PnR still not working great with him, although that’s not all on him, and they had a couple good ones last night.

Love the compete and athleticism of this team, but they’ve got issues finishing games against decent teams. If they get a set if refs who actually call fouls (non Big East style), it could be one and done in the tourney. Hope Polley and Hawkins get healthy, and can hit shots. That assumes Hurley would actually play them enough.

Heartbreaking loss for men's hockey at the Garden. I was there, was awesome to see them playing there and it was a hell of a game. That 2nd period goal they gave up is going to haunt me, just an awful turnover.

UConn will be playing in the PK85 Invitational this year. Here is the bracket on their side.

First Round(all games on Thanksgiving Day)
North Carolina vs. Portland 1:00 pm ESPN
Villanova vs. Iowa State 3:30 pm ESPN2
Oregon vs. UConn 8:00 pm ESPN2
Michigan State vs. Alabama 10:30 pm

If UConn wins, they'll play the next day at 10:00 pm and if they lose they'll play at 12:30 AM. The third game of the tournament will be on Sunday.

They have a chance to add another Villanova matchup which is always nice, but otherwise will be 2-3 major games to add to their NC unless they draw Portland. They already host Oklahoma State on 12/1 in the Big East/Big 12 challenge and are going to Gainesville to play Florida in December.

Well this really sucks.

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's basketball junior guard Paige Bueckers suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee on Monday and will miss the 2022-23 season.

Bueckers sustained the injury during a pick-up basketball game and underwent an MRI Monday evening to confirm the injury.

Bueckers will undergo surgery on Friday at UConn Health. An update on her recovery timetable will be made available following the procedure.

I wish we could consider this a big win but BCU just sucks
It was an ugly football game. The win comes with territorial bragging rights. UCONN has the best football team in New England… at least for another week.

It IS a big win. Huge win for the program. First time ever over BC plus keeps a bowl bid in sight. This is an enormous step forward for the program, even though BC sucks. If this was last year’s UConn team, they’d have lost by four touchdowns today.

I'd like to know if anyone can come up with any other NE teams that have beaten BC in football in the last 100 years (WW2 seasons perhaps excepted).

UConn, UMass (1978 last time), HC (same year), BU (1959)
