Milner and Matip, says it all.

edit: Maybe this will serve as a watershed moment...to highlight the need for proper upgrades in next window. Being embarrassed at home in the Champions League is a terrible look, the world is watching after all.

Frustrating game. Liverpool looked great in the first 20 and even in spells since then but they don’t have the legs to keep it up anymore and made a few lethal mistakes that Madrid will absolutely punish you for

The feeling I get is that Madrid could get into double digits if they wanted. They just cut that back four to shreds at will and Allison looks shellshocked.

I sometimes think other teams, particularly English clubs in the Champions League, are blinded by the glare of the white shirts.

Does Jim Beglin wear his 1980s Liverpool kit while announcing or does he pony up for a modern replica?
Thank God for you because I almost posted the same thing and hour ago. I'm multitasking here and need some sort of emotion to know when to look up, and my guy had nothing on that first Vini goal.

I hear that, but good lord are they ridiculous in this competition.
Sure, this isn't news, but teams lose their shit against them. Levels drop off in heartbeats. I've seen it time and time again. It's not all cos Real are fuckin great in the competition. The possibility of ousting the might Real Madrid fucks with teams collective minds when Real start to fight back. City, Chelsea, Liverpool in recent times have shat it...i give Real credit, but less than most people.

I’m trying to parse This Is Anfield’s player ratings. I think they get a 3 for showing up, then a full point for completing a pass. Nothing else makes sense.

I know nothing about football or Real Madrid. If there was an equivalent NFL or MLB team, who would be the comp?

Yup. Franco's favorite side.
So I suppose all of you are Rayo Vallecano fans then?

This is so tiresome when so many teams today are owned by the family members of current autocrats, have recently been owned by Putin enablers, have Ultras who are actually fucking Nazis etc etc

Oh and Barcelona as a City and Cataluńa as a whole owe so much of their wealth from the pillaging of the America's and slavery... so any want to be Culé should also refrain.

But I gladly will listen to the mockery from Rayo fans.

Posts like the above painting the whole sub as Chelsea supporters, along with teddykgb nailing himself to a cross any time Emirati money laundering is mentioned, are just incredible. Thank you

Did I say that all of you are all Chelsea fans?

I said it is incredibly annoying that Madrid gets a label from things that an autocratic thug who has been dead for almost 50 years did. Meanwhile a whole host of very living and nondecomposed fascists and autocrats own and support clubs throughout Europe and the indignation that is shown Madrid does not apply to them.

Your completely intentional misrepresentation of what I said is incredible

I just assumed all of "[teams] owned by the family members of current autocrats, have recently been owned by Putin enablers, have Ultras who are actually fucking Nazis etc etc" referenced Chelsea.

It was presumptive and lazy, but hardly incredible

Timid, timid is the only word for it...

Once the 3rd goal came, which was admittedly a beautifully worked set piece, LFC played with no purpose, passion, or intent. They played to control damage and played timidly. It was the death of them.

Klopp’s highest praise has long been “mentality monsters.” And he hasn’t used that about his squad in long time now.

Gomez crumbled. Fabinho fatigued quickly (didn't look awful to start). Salah disengaged. VVD isn't VVD. TAA is TAA (against Vini Jr., no less). Alisson had one of his Roma-style gaffes.

This was what we all knew was coming. The only surprise was the fast start and the 2-0. I wouldn't have expected Alisson's gaffe given his POTY performances and the timing may have contributed to he collapse (feels a lot better going in 2-1 up), but he wasn't root cause.

The team needs a rebuild. If they can somehow squeak in Top 4, that needs to be the focus. If not... The house of cards might collapse.
