California. Duh.
Donated. Obviously don't worry about the Pliny. In fact, I will be up in Healdsburg on Wednesday for work, I can swing by Russian River Brewing on the way home and try to grab some bottles for you.

Followed up today. There is a form I need to fill out, will get it in the next couple days and fill it out. There's actually a whole charity section here for organ donations, and my boss is going to help me look into it. Will report back if we can get more money for the cause.

OFT, If you have any issues with procuring this or need to find some other rare beers, please PM me. I have friends in lots of random places that would hopefully be able to assist.

OFT.

I was about to send out a friendly reminder for people to re-up their subscriptions (about to move servers and need predictable streams)

For anyone who buys a new subscription, SoSH will donate 100% of the first year to Harrison.  We have about 3500 unsubscribed users.  Should I send an email out about this or is a thread OK?

(BTW This would only be for Stripe/Credit Card subs, Paypal never fricken works right)

I wasn't around Friday and didn't see this until today. Donation made. I've had Pliny, it's great. I don't need any for donating. I just hope it all goes well for your Godson, OFT.

Cross posted from SoSH Secret Santa thread:

Opes and I had a Secret Santa lunch meeting this afternoon and agreed that all secret santa swag monies should go to Harrison's kidney fund.  We're not going to match folks up and we're going on the honor system that if you signed up for Secret Santa, that you'll make a contribution to Harrison's family fund.

Please note on the donation page that if you work for a company that will match your donation (click on the button that says MATCH DONATION), you should take advantage of that! If you're not sure if your company matches, call someone in HR to find out. Most big organizations do match up to a certain amount, so add more bang to your buck!

I'm fine with both as long as one of the non-me people are behind it.  I don't want to seem like I'm whoring for memberships.  Well, I *am* whoring for memberships, but, well, well you know.

Probably not.

It's actually an ok reason, lots of lifetimes would be a tax event for me.  Right now subs are more or less covering costs so it's tough to carry 'income' from year to year.

Or that's atleast what my tax dude told me to do.  I really have no idea.

ok.... If Harrison gets all of his cash and half of it comes from sosh, we'll also donate 10x Lifetime memberships to the people who donated the most (and for fun I'll count anyone who inspires someone to buy a membership as a donation.  The Girl Scout Cookie method)

Wow. I've been sick the last two days so I'm just catching up now... This is just overwhelming. Thank you everyone! Not sure how long it will take to get everyone their Pliny, but I'll figure that out!

Seriously, amazing outpouring of support. Secret Santa and SOSH memberships, holy shit. This is crazy.

Done.  Best of luck to your family, OFT!  Also shared to my Facebook page.  Hope Harrison can get through this and finally get to be the awesome kid he deserves to be.

Because of my own medical crap this year, I a) can't drink the Pliny, or anything else, so have one for me; b) know that being in the hospital sucks and is scary, and I wish him the best; c) can't give as much as I otherwise would, but I'm in.

Best to all of you.

That's my godson Harrison. He needs a kidney. It's expensive as hell: $300k and insurance covers 60%, so his folks are trying to raise $120k.

I've sent Plinys to a few of you on here over the years, and stopped because it's a pain in the ass to get them, but I was thinking that if people donate $100 I'll ship you four Plinys, if people donate $25 I'll put you into a random drawing for four Plinys. Is that a ripoff? I dunno, tell me if that's too much money and not enough Plinys. I'm not trying to make money here, just trying to buy human organs (kidding!).

Just floating the idea. If people are into it, make sure you put your email on the donation so I can contact you, and note in your comment field "SOSHPLINY" so I can know it's you.

And for locals, I can offer a round of golf at the Olympic Club Ocean Course if someone donates $300. Or non locals too I guess.

Update 11/3: This has been incredibly amazing. We're moving this, I'm told, to the main board, to increase its visibility even further, and Orange Julia has gone nuts including Harrison in the SOSH Secret Santa process (which I guess I have to sign up for now, because holy shit that's amazing) and Nip is even getting SOSH officially involved with membership purchases. I have to say that the response to this has been literally 10x or more what I forecast, so good on you, Sosh. Unfortunately, I've been in touch with Russian River, and while I think I can get all the Pliny that's been promised thus far (it might take me literally a year, but I'll make good on it), I am at the point where I can definitely keep the $25 lottery open but can't really do any more four-packs for $100. If any of you who donated $100 or more, I am not reneging: I'll get you your Plinys, it just may take me, like 12 months. I also got this email from the guy I know at Russian River:

"Oh, keep me posted. 8 cases is more than most accounts get over the course of two months... To give you perspective.
I can help with a few cases for sure. Perhaps if you spread it out over some time. Also, I can sprinkle in some sours to offset the Pliny numbers. (Sours travel much better anyway, by the time Pliny hits the east coast, it's a shell of its former self...)"

So if any of you are willing to take a couple sours (or any of their other amazing bottled beers, viewable here - http://russianriverbrewing.com/brews/) let me know as it'll likely accelerate you actually receiving the beers I owe you.

You guys are going to also have to take into account breakage; for every 5 pliny's Ev transports, only 4 will survive.

OFT, just so you know, I did SoSHPliny my donation, but if you get to me you get to me.  If not, it's not a big deal at all.

I just hope everything goes well for both Harrison and his heroic mom next week.

OFT,

A suggestion on the Pliny that I don't think that people will have a problem with.  Why don't you get say 20 bottles and then just enter everyone's name into a big pile and then pick 5 names?  I doubt that anyone is doing this for the beer.

Or alternatively get the 40-50 bottles and send one bottle per donation. Obviously a little more work but I doubt anyone would be pissed

His parents have become big Red Sox fans over the last five days. They are completely floored!

I think SOSH is well over 5k at this point and may have hit $10k. It's BANANAS.

YAY!

Can we also maybe send him some get well cards and some sox gear? Maybe OFT can get an address for him at the hospital or whatever and find out what size the guy is?  Maybe the SF Giants or Seattle Mariners will get wind of this and match all our donations.

As far as the Pliny shortage goes, I'm happy taking some mixture of their stuff.

Two bottles of Pliny and two bottles of something else - sours, Belgians, whatever - is fine by me.  Whatever helps out.

My donation is in. Whatever happens beer-wise is fine.  Very cool to see all the notes from Sosh in the donation comments.

Edit: If you end up drawing names for a beer raffle add another prize and I'll send a couple of bottles of whatever Maine Beer Co. IPAs I can get ahold of at that time.
