It's pretty cool to scroll through the list of donations and see all the Sosh comments.

Get over onto that Yankees site and get them to donate and whomever raises the most $ for Harrison can own his baseball soul.

I'm here so I don't have to be there.

I think there are a few folks who frequent it from SOSH though. Would be great if one of them brought it up.

OFT, I say we go full on fuck it style and bum rush the staff at Marriott Marquis to snag a keg of it. Then spend our afternoon porting it out into mason jars.

In the spirit of children and Christmas of course.

Just added a golf contribution. Any other Bay Area SoSH'ers want to round out a foursome? Perhaps we can even sample a Few Pliny's at the 19th.
Also - my personal fave beer is Supplication. Sour ale aged in Pinot barrels. Top 20 beer on Beer Advocate. Pliny is incredible but as a dipa doesn't age or ship as well. If you have t tried sour yet you
owe it to yourself to start at the top.

We're working on slipping in some sours... And btw SFIC just messaged me to say that he casually picked up a case of Plinys for the cause and will drop them off tonight. So if you're keeping score, SFIC got us 24 Plinys today, and I got us three. So, you know, onwards and upwards.

Yeah sorry about the sour/Supp comment, those are def more expensive and not a 1 for 1 sub if you can even get them. Personally love everything from Russian River. And not the point anyway. Go Harrison!

HAHAHAHAHA Yuckles decided to drink them all instead LONG CON BITCHES!

Just kidding. But seriously, SFIC is the man. I also found a place that will do all the shipping for me, which will probably be pricier but will save me 100 visits to the post office so things are looking up. We are also looking into doing a PR friendly event where for example my whole hockey team shows up in uniform and buys out two or three shops in a row. Good imagery!

Do we still do that thing where we auction off items or services for the jimmy fund? If not, maybe we can do that for Harrison? Im happy to sell some training packages or piano lessons to the cause.

I love the auction idea, but it is a lot of work. I am happy to assist someone, however.

I've got a bunch of old USSR stamps sitting in a collection somewhere. I have no idea what they are valued at, but I'd be happy to donate them for a good cause.

In.  Not worried about beer.  If I ever encounter a fellow SOSH member they can buy me a random beer.  Then I'll buy them one.

So I got the form I need to fill out for HR. Just have to make the donation and submit the form with a printed receipt. Like I said, they'll match up to 500$

OK, things have been amended a bit due in large measure due to the generosity of the fine people of SoSH, but in ways that I think we can all agree are good.

So we're moving it to the big board.

That's my godson Harrison. He needs a kidney. It's expensive as hell: $300k and insurance covers 60%, so his folks are trying to raise $120k.

I've sent Plinys to a few of you on here over the years, and stopped because it's a pain in the ass to get them, but I was thinking that if people donate $100 I'll ship you four Plinys, if people donate $25 I'll put you into a random drawing for four Plinys. Is that a ripoff? I dunno, tell me if that's too much money and not enough Plinys. I'm not trying to make money here, just trying to buy human organs (kidding!).

Just floating the idea. If people are into it, make sure you put your email on the donation so I can contact you, and note in your comment field "SOSHPLINY" so I can know it's you.

And for locals, I can offer a round of golf at the Olympic Club Ocean Course if someone donates $300. Or non locals too I guess.

Update 11/3: This has been incredibly amazing. We're moving this, I'm told, to the main board, to increase its visibility even further, and Orange Julia has gone nuts including Harrison in the SOSH Secret Santa process (which I guess I have to sign up for now, because holy shit that's amazing) and Nip is even getting SOSH officially involved with membership purchases. I have to say that the response to this has been literally 10x or more what I forecast, so good on you, Sosh. Unfortunately, I've been in touch with Russian River, and while I think I can get all the Pliny that's been promised thus far (it might take me literally a year, but I'll make good on it), I am at the point where I can definitely keep the $25 lottery open but can't really do any more four-packs for $100. If any of you who donated $100 or more, I am not reneging: I'll get you your Plinys, it just may take me, like 12 months. I also got this email from the guy I know at Russian River:

"Oh, keep me posted. 8 cases is more than most accounts get over the course of two months... To give you perspective.
I can help with a few cases for sure. Perhaps if you spread it out over some time. Also, I can sprinkle in some sours to offset the Pliny numbers. (Sours travel much better anyway, by the time Pliny hits the east coast, it's a shell of its former self...)"

So if any of you are willing to take a couple sours (or any of their other amazing bottled beers, viewable here - http://russianriverbrewing.com/brews/) let me know as it'll likely accelerate you actually receiving the beers I owe you.

Way to ping me after you edited this like you said you would. ;)

I was about to send out a friendly reminder for people to re-up their subscriptions (about to move servers and need predictable streams)

For anyone who buys a new subscription, SoSH will donate 100% of the first year to Harrison.  We have about 3500 unsubscribed users.  Should I send an email out about this or is a thread OK?

(BTW This would only be for Stripe/Credit Card subs, Paypal never fricken works right)

ok.... If Harrison gets all of his cash and half of it comes from sosh, we'll also donate 10x Lifetime memberships to the people who donated the most (and for fun I'll count anyone who inspires someone to buy a membership as a donation.  The Girl Scout Cookie method)

OFT,

A suggestion on the Pliny that I don't think that people will have a problem with.  Why don't you get say 20 bottles and then just enter everyone's name into a big pile and then pick 5 names?  I doubt that anyone is doing this for the beer.

We've worked to eradicate baseball ignorance in Africa in the past--and maybe do some workto fight AIDS on the side. Let's see what the power of this fully armed and operational thread can do.

OFT, don't worry about the beer for me.  I really appreciate the offer, but it's not necessary at all and it's much less of a hassle for you that way.  Maybe one day when I'm in your neck of the woods we can hook up and share some brews.

Did Nip get ahold of all the Pliny somehow?

I donated a kidney to my dad several years ago. He is doing fantastically, as am I. I am sure you have had many of your questions answered, but if you want any more anecdotal tales of before/during/after donation I would be happy to share (here on the board or in a private message)

Really glad this made it to the main board, as a fellow Oregon-dweller I'm pleased to contribute.

Also, my company is doing a "we will donate to a charity of your choice" for no-shave November, so if this is still up at the end of the month I might be able to add more.

I donated the $100 but don't want pilny.
That said SF has great access to some beers that we don't get in MA. If you can get some midnight sun arctic monkey or berserker, Firestone walker parabola or stickee Monkee,

I'll pay separately for those.

I'm in for $100, but I can usually find Pliny around here, so it's no worries on the beer. (That said if anyone finds a Kentucky Breakfast Stout and feels like shipping it my way, let me know).

New to this (I'm Rory's chauffeur to the hospital on Tuesday and a kidney donor myself): OHSU does specialize in pediatric kidney transplants. My niece received one there over 9 years ago and she shares the same list of doctors as Harrison. PLUS all of us who support the family are in town to keep the casseroles. pain meds and Pliny's flowing for Rory and Travis!

Donated, no Pliny needed but if you know of some password that would allow me to bypass the line next time I'm in Santa Rosa I'd be more than happy to take it.
