WEEI shortens cast working with Joe Castiglione on Red Sox broadcasts in 2020 via Boston.com

WEEI has shortened its rotation for its Red Sox radio broadcast team this season, and it should be a winning one.

The station and parent company Entercom Communications announced Friday that longtime play-by-play broadcaster Joe Castiglione will be joined by three primary broadcasters this season: Will Flemming, Sean McDonough, and Lou Merloni.
Marry Sean McDonough
Fuck Will Flemming
Kill Lou Merloni

Seriously though, really happy they are getting McDonough on board again. I don't think it will be the case but would love to see him get the lion's share of games.

I would enjoy McDonough full time, but think he would not do so until/unless he is out of the ESPN contract. I would think the Sox pay would not be enough to bypass his football announcing money, while the seasons don't overlap all that much he certainly has enough banked to be choosy and not work 200+ days away from home.

I enjoy Lou, either talking baseball on OMF or during games. He has a player's perspective and offers insights others don't, and he also willing to be critical of lack of performance. Sure he's not super-smooth in the booth, but Remy's first couple years as a full-time color announcer were pretty much unwatchable, and he stepped it up, too. Lou will get better with more reps.

Set your calendar. EEI announced that OMF (Ordway, Merloni and Fauria) will be calling the Sox/Rays Spring Training Game on February 22nd.
When the main page loads, this thread title appears as: "WEEI going with 3 man rot..." How prescient.

I know I can write WEEI and WFAN for this, but does anyone here know if I can find their radio broadcasts for the 2004 ALCS games online anywhere? Google isn't helping me very much.

mlb came out and said if games do happen the radio and tv announcers don't go to away games. instead will do the broadcast by watching the game on monitors.

As an aside, always felt trupe got done a little dirty with getting released by weei/ red sox. But, admittedly got tired of the crutches employed by many broadcasters a long time ago. After game 7 of the 2004 ALCS it was perfect, 16 years later it doesn't add anything to the experience for me hearing Castig trot out "can you believe it?!" after every 4-1 win over the Oakland As. It's just lazy.

You can provide color to the game without repeating shitty catchphrases over and over.
