Oklahoma City and Tulsa picking up CLE-CAR instead of the national game. Nice.

The Jaguars really have no fan base beyond Jacksonville. Even the Savannah market is opting for the craptastic Falcons, and Orlando is I guess picking up that game because it’s two of the Bucs’ divisional rivals.

Damn, I really, really want to watch the Herberts vs the McDanielses. KC vs AZ is a fine alternative, but the AFC West division games are by far what I'm looking forward to most about this season in the non-Pats category.

Reminder that the broadcaster lineup has shifted significantly

NBC/SNF- Tirico, Collinsworth
Amazon/TNF- Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit
Fox Lead- Kevin Burkhardt. Greg Olsen
CBS Lead- Nantz, Romo
ESPN/MNF- Buck, Aikman

Talk about a which one isn’t like the others list.
Burkhardt is OK. I think Olsen stinks but he's just a placeholder for Brady, they weren't going to invest in a big name filler.

I'm going to miss Michaels on SNF. I like Tirico, but Michaels on PBP makes any game feel bigger. SNF has always felt like the big game of the week. I do like Herbie's work on the college front so that should be an interest TNF duo.

Buck and Aikman on ESPN is going to be weird. MNF has often been an after thought. I'm not sure if the schedule makers adjusted and gave them more favorable games, or if ESPN is hoping that the A-List broadcasting duo will give the perception that their shitty slate of games is better than it really is. Bad games plus bad broadcasters was the MNF formula of recent years.

I get what you're saying, but it hasn't always been this way. Early in the Pats dynasty MNF was definitely still a bigger deal than SNF - the days when Al Michaels was on ABC calling the games with Madden. Their run together was from 2002-2005. In 2006 he transitioned to SNF on NBC. I think 2006 is probably the point of change where SNF overtook MNF, when NBC was awarded that contract.

Yeah, those two)BH and Olson) looked weird on that list. But you're right, Olsen is a placeholder, and maybe just a one year one at that. I liked Al and Herbie on the one amazon pre-season game I watched a little bit of. Think that's going to be an excellent team. And I agree, and I think posted at the time, MNF shelling out that insane money to Buck and Aikman, minus an upgrade in the quality of games on that schedule, seemed strange. Unless more people are announcer driven in their viewing habits than I realize. Those two would not motivate me to watch a blah game I otherwise don't care about.

Damn I was hoping for an Al Michaels game. These "Sunday Night Football on Thursday Night" games are annoying.

Jeez, Richard Simmons could be calling this game and I wouldn't care -- I'm so ready for the season to begin!

Michaels was on the pregame show.

He’s on TNF with Amazon now. Tirico does SNF full time. Today is Thursday but it’s a SNF game.

I do love overreactions from the first game from fans and the media - let alone the first drive
