Might as well try Marcus on offense. So desperately in need of some speed and shiftiness on that side of the ball and it’s not working at cb.

The Mapu play - Miami’s RT false started, no call. Miami’s LG held. No call. Dugger had a clear path for an INT (and maybe pick six) but the ball clangs off Mapu’s back, because he isn’t looking back for the ball.

Just unbelievable stuff.

Here
Him watching his 3rd round pick,, 25 year-old 6th year Div II, Mapu getting torched?
The defense managed to be pretty good/decent the past 4 years with mediocre talent and lots of injuries. Similar spot this year and it fell off a cliff. GM had issues last 5 years, but I miss BB the coach.

This roster is not a .500 roster under any coach. Like the data supports that this is one of the worst rosters in the entire NFL. I love BB but he isnt a miracle worker.
I don't think they'd be .500.... I do think the defense would be much better. Bill has shown many times he can get a decent defense out of dogshit.... also I think Steve was a very good playcaller, and I think Covington is not.

Yeah it was Mac. What has he done this year to make you feel otherwise.

If Kraft let's BB trade Mac and sign Baker, we're a playoff team right now
I guess I’m just saying, it was dysfunctional with or without Mac. Something was off.

If that Baker scenario was really on the table, it had have been fun to see.

Don't you think the playcalling an the defense and the overall preparation would be worlds better with BB?

This is fucking amateur hour.
I am not a Mayo fan and I suspect he isn't the one who will restore this team to competitiveness. But what I am seeing is a team that cannot execute basic stuff because the individuals are getting beaten routinely. I am not ruling out coaching delta but my lifetime of sportwatching leads me to believe that talent overcomes all coaching deficits. Coaching can overcome talent deficits but only briefly. This team has a huge deficit of talent, especially at most skill positions.

They have 4 false start penalties in one half. That is 100% on coaching. I don't care if it's fucking high schoolers out there, you cannot accept dead ball penalties from your team like that and yet Mayo does nothing to fix it.

Lazar has said all year all Covington has cared about is stopping the run with base defense. The Shanahan offenses just carve up this defense with the passing game.

But there are clear things that are coaching, like penalties and tackling, that are absolutely killing this team. The coaching is a bigger problem than the talent.

Zooming out, this feels like one of those “two steps back” games you get when you are rebuilding. Kind of like that awful first game against the Jets where you play so badly on so many levels it just feels like the sky is falling.

I still maintain Tua sucks. McDaniel’s game plan and the talent are carrying him.

I enjoy your posting, but some of your takes are insane. Like you were completely a Mac sympathizer, yet think Tua sucks? I don't get it.

Tua has incredible touch. But he’s definitely the kind of guy that needs a deep, strong supporting staff.

Don’t worry, this is all because Bentley is out.
I'm sure they miss him. Our current linebackers blow.
But he's another slow guy that is easily exploited by a real NFL coach.
He won't be any faster next year.
And Barmore's return has done nothing for them. I'm assuming he's still not 100% (I hope)
They are in deep do do on defense. And the coach has zero clue. Not helping.

The most depressing thing about all this isn’t the OL. It’s the glaringly obvious reality that the defense sucks and needs to be completely retooled.

Qb pressure has been a problem for us as well. I know tua has been getting it out quick (prom night?) but ...

Jesus christ.

Miami didn't have an OFFENSE when Tua was hurt. Literally, no offense whatsoever.

With Tua, they score points. Tua doesn't suck. Jesus christ.
