I have been in Mayo's corner from the minute they hired him--and even before. But every time this team looks like it's turning a corner into bad but promising, they regress to unwatchable incompetence and unpreparedness. I don't know how significant an upgrade Vrabel or Ben Johnson or anyone else would be--but outside of Maye, Gonzo, and a handful of others, they seem too clueless too often.

So that WR pass screen.... that was not a bad play, you aren't picking up 3rd and 17 dropping back, he ball gets to RHam he had good blocking.
Relying on Kendrick Bourne to throw the ball accurately 35 yards across the field seems pretty bad to me.

Here
Sure, but they are getting nothing on traditional dropbacks, so they tried something.... and like everything else, didn't execute correctly.
A quick out to Douglas prob gets 8-10 there easily with the D sagging back

Meh, I'm sure they've run it and he can make that throw, but really he doesn't have to fit it in a window, just not one hop it, guy is completely uncovered and not running a route. People are just pissy because the team stinks and is getting smoked.

Vrabel and Ben Johnson are upgrades because they know better assistant coaches around the league.

Has anyone mentioning Vrabel's name heard about his reputation? From what I have read his "leader of men" act gets old quick with players and faster with owners. That feels like a Jeff Fisher hire where you are gunning to be a 10 win team.

I mean Jonnu literally ran over Dugger to the tune of turning his ankle. Wish he would have gotten those calls with the Pats!

At the beginning of the year, I thought the biggest needs were OT and WR, now it’s OT, WR, CB, S, LB, DL, edge rusher, C, and OG. Possibly punter.

I want an offensive head coach. I would go that route and pay a veteran defensive coordinator if I was Kraft.

Vrabel somehow doesn't know any offensive coaches....

But really, if the Patriots move on from Mayo (they won't) they should interview 6 offensive coaches who can call plays. I'm higher on AVP than most, but getting an offensive coach so you can develop your QB and not worry about churn on coordinators is smart.
