I feel like there’s got to be some movie plot level of intrigue behind this Saturday hire.

Hey, more OBJ watch/talk. I share the exasperation @johnmd20 has on this topic. Has anyone else ever parlayed a few highlight catches, in an otherwise pedestrian career, like this dude has?
It's infuriating.

I understand why guys like Lebron get all the attention by sports media. He's one of the best players of all time. But Odell is treated like he's a combo of Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, and Jamar Chase. And he's a guy who just gets hurts. A lot.

His greatest play happened almost a decade ago. And he's coming off another ACL. That happened in February.

OBJ is getting attention mainly because he’s the only remotely difference-making player who’s available. Every contender, with the possible exception of the Bengals, would benefit from adding the 2021 version of OBJ. No one else who’s available is close. Blame it on the NFL’s relatively early trade deadline.

And yes, it gets some extra attention because OBJ was a top-5 WR for a few years and therefore has a name that’s recognizable to casual fans. The announcers would probably worry about turning off those fans with repeated digressions about, say, Robert Woods.

Odell tore is ACL 10 months ago. He's not going to be a difference maker. And he's had 4 huge injuries in the last few years, including two ACL tears, a bad high ankle sprain, and a torn hamstring.(on top of like 8 other injuries he's had that weren't catastrophic)

He's played 1 full season since 2016, which also happens to be his last great season. It is going to be 2023 in 3 weeks. Dallas would be out of their minds if they signed him. Odell takes up way too much oxygen, too, especially when things aren't going well. It worked out well last year with the Rams because the kept winning. But he had 537 yards in 14 games last year. Some of that was with the Browns, but it wasn't like he was even putting up great numbers with the Rams.

That was before he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl. The media is acting like Odell is coming back as prime Odell. That Odell is gone. And hasn't been since in a half a decade.

Idk anything about his recovery. In the NFC Championship and the SB, he was good. He was pretty solid in all the Rams playoff games.

In 4 playoff games last season, OBJ had 21 catches for 288 yards and 2 TDs. That’s nowhere close to elite production, and it came in a system where the defense had to key on others, but it suggests he’s still a useful, short-term option when he’s healthy. I’ll agree the announcers didn’t say enough about the uncertainty of whether even the 2021 version of OBJ is walking through that door, but I don’t think anyone thought Tirico and Collinsworth were implying OBJ is still a star.

When OBJ goes looking for a one-year contract for 2023, I think he’ll discover his antics in Cleveland have scared off some suitors, but I wouldn’t be all that worried about his behavior down the stretch this season if I thought he could help my team.

Yes, he was good, for two games. Then he tore his ACL and ESPN is acting like Odell is going to be Cooper Kupp when he comes back from an ACL tear 10 months ago. It's taken Gallup like 7 weeks to get into playing shape after his ACL tear 11.5 months ago.

Odell isn't doing anything in 2022. Any team signing him really would be taking a risk that doesn't seem like it would have much reward. Maybe next year with a little more time, he can become as good as Josh Palmer.

I keep waiting for TB to pull it together and it just doesn’t look like they’re going to. They’re just pure mediocrity this year.

Most prominently, their OL is not good, they’re down their best pass rusher, and they went from Gronk to Cam Brate.

They don’t have the talent edge that they did in 2020-21 which let them muddle through the year until turning it on late. Seemingly every week the coach and key players are at the podium talking about not having ‘answers.’

I don’t think people gave Bruce Arians enough credit. He wasn‘t Belichick or anything, but Todd Bowles just doesn‘t seem able to transfer his success as a coordinator to a head coach.

Arians was garbage. Bowles is worse but Arians was a bottom 10 coach in the league.

I think Todd doesn’t control Tom airmailing these passes. Seems more like a Gisele thing.

Tampa has Tom Brady, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin (who would easily be the Pats' best two WRs), and Leonard Fournette, and they're averaging fewer points (18.2) than the Patriots (20.8) this year.

Why might that be?

I know Kamara hasn’t been as good as other years but how do you have a guy like that on your team and basically just not use him ?

I need Chris Godwin to make one more catch to win my fantasy matchup and I'm growing pessimistic.
