No…Mayo does not know what he is doing…Maye is fantastic. Very different. Is this what 1992 looked like?
You’re assuming the game plays out as it did. Nobody knew what would happen. You have to play to maximize the amount of time you have left.Wouldn't have had 50 though, unless they used all his timeouts, IND would have let the clock run on their plays instead of using their own timeouts once they got to and-goal situations.
Options were:
1. win the game with a stop
2. win the game stopping the 2pt.
3. Down 1, 12 seconds and timeouts
4. Down 1, 20-22 seconds no timeouts.
Yup. Play calling going conservative when they should have been looking for the kill shot changed the entire gameI blame AVP. After that turnover, 3 and out.
I think it was spotted where he started to slide.I am wondering about that last spot. I thought he made it across the 50-yard line but I guess if it was a 68 yarder they were on their own 49?
Two runs into the line…made absolutely no sense.I blame AVP. After that turnover, 3 and out.
That's probably correct.I think it was spotted where he started to slide.
Yup. And especially when it is clear to see that your best player on offense is Maye. Put the ball in his hands and let him win you the game.I blame AVP. After that turnover, 3 and out.
Nah, what if he runs, though? Can't break him, can't ruin him! Best to just make him suffer terrible defeats every single week without even trying.Yup. And especially when it is clear to see that your best player on offense is Maye. Put the ball in his hands and let him win you the game.
I don't agree, because letting the clock run down minimizes the ability to run... they scored on 3rd down on a pass.. but they couldn't run there, which had been one of the more effective plays because if it was stopped time runs out. Assuming they will score on you is surrender, make a play, and play to win the game. You’re assuming the game plays out as it did. Nobody knew what would happen. Belichick.Maybe they could get an experienced Assistant HC who could mentor Mayo?
Colts had time/timeouts for maxing out plays on their end. They scored on 4th and Goal anyway. Mayo should just use the timeouts and control what he can. You gotta use them there.I don't agree, because letting the clock run down minimizes the ability to run... they scored on 3rd down on a pass.. but they couldn't run there, which had been one of the more effective plays because if it was stopped time runs out. If we control for the Henry drop/pop on the one TD throw and the pre-snap penalty on that other one… but then throw in 60 yards on the ground! This is where I've been for the most part. Would be just fine watching Maye throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs but get outscored by Indy despite a good individual performance from Gonzalez. This roster needs all the help it can get.
Idk. Let's see who's available. It's pretty clear Mayo is not up for this job. It's malpractice to throw good money after bad in this league. Maye has a chance to be awesome. You don't squander that on pride. If some shiny object turns up, Kraft may think hard about it. Ultimately he looks good if the team wins and that's not looking likely with Mayo.We are stuck with Mayo for another year. It would make Kraft look bad if they fired him and that isn't gonna happen.
No. There was a Patriots game in 1992, or 1993, thereabouts, on Monday night. We never got a Monday night game in those days we were so lousy. Anyway, it was pouring rain all game and for some (lighting?) reason, the field looked red. It sucked, man. We lost but I think I turned it off before the end.Is this what 1992 looked like?
why do they need to “mentor” Mayo?Maybe they could get an experienced Assistant HC who could mentor Mayo?
You're right I was off by a down. Meh, I'm fine with trying to end the game with a stop, I can see the case for extending it, but I think compared to his normal problems it's a defensible strategy, defense just failed to execute as normal.Colts had time/timeouts for maxing out plays on their end. They scored on 4th and Goal anyway. Mayo should just use the timeouts and control what he can. You gotta use them there.
Mayo has to be Eberflussed tomorrow. This shit cannot stand.I’m gonna go ahead and guess he wasn’t good from 68 before the game
3-10 makes Kraft look bad.We are stuck with Mayo for another year. It would make Kraft look bad if they fired him and that isn't gonna happen.
If they have to keep him (because Kraft won't get rid of him), I'd at least like to see someone come in and help teach him how to become a better HC.why do they need to “mentor” Mayo?
The head coach of a football team shouldn’t need a mentor on the sideline (which isn’t to say they should have advisors or people to bounce ideas off of). Maybe if he was some incredible coordinator and wanted a veteran on the other side of the ball (like McVay and Phillips).
but Mayo sucks and is completely unqualified. There’s no reason to waste years having a babysitter looking over his shoulder every week. Just dump him and find someone who doesn’t need hand holding
And on the heels of 4-13 no less. NEP starting to look like the other bottom feeder franchises.3-10 makes Kraft look bad.
Why would firing Mayo make him look worse?
Anyone think that has ever happened in NFL history? I doubt it.If they have to keep him (because Kraft won't get rid of him), I'd at least like to see someone come in and help teach him how to become a better HC.
He's bad at that. along with bad at coaching.Mayo’s PC is an unmitigated disaster lol
Summary for OOT folks?Mayo’s PC is an unmitigated disaster lol
Holy shit. Is his headset actually connected to anyone else or is it just a prop?Mayo didn’t challenge because they didn’t get a clear look at a replay.
its doesn’t really though once they got inside the red zone. They had all their timeouts. They have every play in their bag at that point. You to maximize your time for the next drive.I don't agree, because letting the clock run down minimizes the ability to run... they scored on 3rd down on a pass.. but they couldn't run there, which had been one of the more effective plays because if it was stopped time runs out. Assuming they will score on you is surrender, make a play, and play to win the game.
Three fourth down conversions plus the two point conversion on that last drive. That’s four do-or-die plays by Indy andthey got them allwe couldn't stop a single one of them.
And a year of Cam too.Drake is so good. Just really happy we (seemingly) won’t be in QB purgatory for the next 10, 20, 30 years. To only have one Mac Jones between your HOF QB and a stud 22-year-old Josh Allen redux is pretty fucking lucky. Especially after 6 championships. We deserved to be in QB hell for much longer than this.
Starting? And on the heels of 4-13 no less. NEP starting to look like the other bottom feeder franchises.
Someone should tell him him he's not getting into the Hall even after he's dead if he hangs on to Mayo.We are stuck with Mayo for another year. It would make Kraft look bad if they fired him and that isn't gonna happen.
Yes. 1989-1993 were my college years, in Boston, this is absolutely was 1992 looked like.Is this what 1992 looked like?
Not really. Both teams were relatively devoid of fight. This team has sucked but based on talent and coaching they should not have a win or really a close game.Is this what 1992 looked like?
Those two Stevenson runs after the pick….they would have been better off kneeling it for fuck’s sake.Yup. Play calling going conservative when they should have been looking for the kill shot changed the entire game
