He's back but then Cris mumbles I don't ever think he went anywhere

This is the lead analyst for NBC.
It's a huge insult to Peyton Manning that they think this kind of performance doesn't represent a noticeable downgrade from his peak.

The all out blitz in that situation is unforgivable. Literally any other call would result in zero or--at worst--three points. The Lionz are fucking stupid.

The Lions even called a timeout prior to that play.  What a horrible team at situational football.

1.) Dumb rule.

2.) Good to know the refs know what's going on.

Yeah, this is an issue the NFL might want to look into. In this age of such a high % of touchbacks on kickoffs, players (especially defenders) can indulge themselves in a post-TD personal foul without too much consequence. There needs to be more options, as in allowing movement of the LOS for the extra point kick, or letting the team kicking off to get the LOS moved back 5 yards after the return/touchback is done.

Anyone watching halftime where they said Big Ben had a "bone bruise and sprained MCL". Isn't the MRI tomorrow? They are really hanging their hats on their physical exam skills. Kinda crazy.

Reports floating around indicate he got the MRI tonight. The main Pitt hospital and the hospital Dr. Bradley (team doc) work at certainly have the ability to do MRIs all night long. There are also MRIs at the Steeler's training facility / sports medicine complex that I'm sure they could rouse a tech to run if needed.

So that grimace and full wind up for a throw that went 10 yards shows that Peyton is back?

Well no shit, I know anyone famous can get an MRI whenever you want. Then just say you did the MRI, don't know why they need to lie.

The Broncos and Manning really don't seem as bad to ke as everyone else seems to think. They have an awful lot of big play playmakers on both sides of the ball.

The bolded part doesn't work.  What happens if the return goes for a touchdown?

MRI revealed Ben Roethlisberger did not tear his ACL, but he sprained his MCL and now is expected to miss "probably 6 weeks," per source.

Tweet by Schefter.

Don't know why the Steelers kept lying about it.

I'm just glad the refs didn't try that "we ruled forward progress stopped so it's not reviewable" thing.

Haha. Ok. I didn't hear the half time stuff and how they phrased it. Just the Tweets indicate MRI was done.

And that should totally be a fumble. But I doubt it gets overturned.

So the throw for 10 yards earlier tonight that he had to put his whole body into like a CF'er throwing to the plate seems okay?

Terrible officiating. Call it a fumble and get the automatic review, but nope lets call him down when he clearly is not.
I cannot understand why they don't follow this line of logic

Meh, you deferred enforcement and took a chance. It didn't work out when you yielded the TD return. Not a big issue to me.

the NFL right now is like the nightmare worst-case scenarios that people were dreaming up in the 90s when they first started talking about implementing instant replay. The games take forever, the calls are still wrong half the time, and there's barely any flow to the games. If they had let the play finish, the Lions get 6 on the board and it's automatically reviewed (and then probably upheld). Now the Lions don't get the ball, have to use one of their limited challenges, and then won't be able to score after getting the turnover they deserved.

In 20 years the NFL is going to have 4 second plays with no contact and then cut away to a bunch of guys in New York flipping through rulebooks and doing frame-by-frame analysis to decide on what happened. It'll be like a tabletop rpg or strat-o-matic played by lawyers.

Isn't a sprained mcl + a bone bruise a much bigger deal than just a sprain? Bone bruises don't sound fun.

He's not what he was, but he's still a top 12 qb, still has very good clock management instincts, has great receivers, and a fantastic defense. I want him to suck as much as anyone, but they just aren't as awful as everyone says.
