Granted this would take a minor miracle for the Rams, but the 49ers refuse to let me live stress free. Pick there seals it obviously.

I watched this game on a delay. Some thoughts:

Aikman saying “I got his name wrong earlier and I apologize to him and his family” cracked me up for some reason. Aikman is way funnier than I ever hear or read anyone mention.

Cousin Sal said on Twitter that Hamm brought up their fantasy kick-out rule with the Mannings, which is 1. Too funny but 2. What a waste it is having the Manningcast against Buck/Aikman. I loved it when I could watch it instead of shitty announcers but now I’m torn.

Stafford looks a lot worse than Zach Wilson. What is going on? 9 points and a pick 6?

Ok, this question is mainly for @CFB_Rules but anyone can give it a shot. A fan was just on the field in the Rams-49ers game. So imagine this scenario.

Rams ahead 27-23 with three seconds left in the game. The 49ers do some crazy thing and as Deebo Samuel sprints for the end zone, there's a Rams player in hot pursuit. Unclear whether the Rams' guy will chase him down, but it looks like Samuel will make it. Big enough lead. But...the Rams player (say, Ramsey) is closing, so it'll be close. From the 49ers side of the field, a fan wearing a 49ers jersey sprints on the field and tackles Samuel at the 5 yard line, preventing Samuel from scoring. Clock reads 0:00.

The game is in SF. The fan is wearing a SF jersey. By all appearances it's a SF fan in his favorite team's home stadium. His "tackle" of Samuel prevents the 49ers from winning the game, and there's no time left on the clock.

What's the ruling on this? Is there a penalty? If so, on who? It's a SF home game. The fan *appears* to be a 49er fan. Why would he do this? Who the hell knows. Drunk. Maybe he has a lot of money on the Rams even though he appears to be a 49er fan. Maybe he's a closet Rams fan and this is all a ploy. There's no time for an *investigation* into this. A ruling on the field needs to be made.

Is there a penalty? Why would there be a penalty on the Rams? What did they do wrong? Would the ref make a ruling that Samuel would have scored and award SF the touchdown?
NFL players at the pinnacle of strength and athleticism can't take Deebo down. Some schmoe on the 5 yard line would get put in the hospital when Deebo runs him over at 20 MPH and strolls into the end zone.

I'm pretty sure this game is over. These Rams don't have the weapons they had last year.
Don't they basically have the same exact weapons as last year, except that Allen Robinson has replaced OBJ?

2021
RB - Michel, Henderson (Akers missed almost the entire season)
WR - Kupp, OBJ, Skowronek, Woods, Jefferson
TE - Higbee

2022
RB - Akers, Henderson
WR - Kupp, Robinson, Skowronek, Powell
TE - Higbee

I forgot about Van Jefferson - pretty major oversight on my part there. Woods too. So yeah, I guess you're right - the downgrade from OBJ/Woods/Jefferson to Robinson/Powell is pretty significant. I don't think the switch from Michel to Akers is anything though.

I thought it was funny before the half when he was like "I'll bet everything that Stafford is just going to run out the clock" and then the Rams went for it and he was like "well looks like I'm walking home tonight".

If its obvious a TD would have been scored, use the god rule and award a TD. If it was going to be close, use inadvertent whistle provisions. In this case the 49ers would have an untimed down where the "tackle" happened.
